I understand your pain and disappointment. You've been on this Ghana / Nigeria music issue but to no avail. I think you should adopt a different approach and trust the process. You can't compete with Nigeria just ignore whatever Nigeria or others are doing and trust the process. Nigerians did the same 10 to 20 years ago and are now reaping the reward. They had no obsession or had that competition mindset. They put the wheel in motion, moved at their pace and trusted the process. I pray your industry wake up and represent instead of having that competition mindset.

One thing I noticed about a lot of Ghanaians is this unnecessary competitive attitude esp towards Nigeria and Nigerians.
Just bcos Naija music is doing well globally Ghanaians feel theirs too must do well....This Sam fellow has that mentality in quantums and u can see it in almost all his videos- how obsessed he is with Naija's musical growth and how Ghana can overtake Nigeria.....if it was any other African country, Ghanaians won't be bothered, but once it's Nigeria, they get triggered and want to compete
Guy, it's not a COMPETITION! ! Just do your own thing and if you are good you will succeed. If yiu focus too much on what others are doing, you can't succeed. Maybe that's why our industry is in a mess and will never grow
Get sense bcos your reasoning is wack

    • @chidozirimokorie9356
      @chidozirimokorie9356 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Well said. If it were other country, they would have let it slide. Amampiano is dominating clubs in Ghana but its not an issue. Its always an issue when its Naija. Naija is not competing with anyone. Obsession brings about limitations. And let me make one thing clear for Ghana music to rise, the whole creative industry must be in sync. Movies, comedy, music, reality shows etc. All must function as a unit to push the industry across the world and Nigeria and south Africa is a case study. If you think music alone will put your creativity arts on the map, then you must be dreaming...

Dear Sammy Flex, you probably recognize me as one of your ardent critics. Now, you know why. I absolutely feel vindicated.
I use words like "timid', 'selfish', 'stingy', 'jealous', entitled', empty- vessel', 'unsophisticated', 'lazy,' 'narrow-minded', 'born with envy', 'emotional, and 'uncivilized' to describe Ghanaians. I employ these words based on years of close encounters with Ghanians here in the US. They are the most selfish and backwards people that I ever had to deal with.
Ghanaians are talkers, not doers. Ghanaians like to be breast-fed and carried along to reap the benefits of someone else's (Nigeria) hard-work. Ghanaians like sympathy hand-outs. That is why the whole brouhaha about 'Nigeria don't support Ghana music' debacle was so offensive to many Nigerians.
I hope you see the light, my friend.

Just to add to the one about Ghanaians and their 'sympathy hand-outs' culture, the National Arts Theatre in Ghana, that's the national and most important space for arts and culture in Ghana was built by the Chinese as a gift to Ghanaians in 1992. Just as the Indian government partly funded Ghana's seat of government, the Jubilee House, Ghana's so-called presidential palace, just as a Turkish Foundation gave them a National Mosque. Now a country that wants to be seen as arts/culture/entertainment powerhouse should at least be able to invest in arts/cultural spaces like a National Arts Theatre. But not Ghanaians. Now this deluded people who are so incapable of actually doing those little but important things in life for themselves are deceiving and consoling themselves that they are in some sort of competition with Nigerians. Now if you want to compete and be taken seriously as a people genuinely interested in arts/culture/entertainments, you should at least demonstrate your commitment by using your own initiative to build structures/spaces/infrastructure for those things. No amount of 'sympathy hand-outs' would make you good at something you are not good at. The truth is Ghana suddenly realized it wants to do arts/culture/entertainments because they want what Nigeria has, it doesn't matter that they are so manifestly bad at it.

@@crownjewel3533 When u live in Ghana, u will know that laziness is almost a lifestyle there. Nigerians are fun loving people and partying is rooted in our culture. And Nigerians don't mind spending money partying be it in clubs or anywhere we find ourselves. Would you encouraged Ghanians to practice or emulate this type of cultural appropriation known to Nigerians? Well, I am not too sure. Cultural traits like music is hard to copy but Ghanians should take solace by coming out to show confidence and support to their crafts be it in music or in any sphere of life where they find themselves. Ghanians should also try to invest in critical sector such as club house in some key countries for the promotion of their music. In USA, UK, Canada Nigerians had invested in radio stations where mainly Afrobeats songs are being played making Nigerian songs to be popular in the western world. If Nigerians can do this I think Ghanians can do it too with planning and the willingness to learn from Nigerians.

It's the way you and some of your country men compete with Nigeria and make it look like we are in a war that put some of us off. We Nigerians want your artistes to do well and your industry to grow. We can work together if Ghanaians are willing. Success is not a gift,it must be worked for. Let other Ghanaian artistes learn from Camidoh, Black Sheriff and their management teams. They dropped good music and went on to push it outside their space, and you can see the results. For a change, why not invite a Nigerian music executive to your set and ask what Nigerian artistes are doing to make them successful.

A good music will always go to any length irrespective of where the singer came from.

Dear Sammie flex, 9ja music is the biggest next to America. Its not all about spending, Good music sell itself regardless of advertisements. Ghanaian need to improve on their craft; especially the beat production, mixing and mastering. I was at a bar yesterday and KIDI's Touch it was played after kizz Daniels song: the mastering was very low and not heavy enough, this little technical aspect matters a lot and its a determinant factor in producing hit songs.

Is it a crime, if you keep losing to Nigeria in the Music scene? What sort of obsession is this? Why do you want to win over Nigerian music? Why not compare yourselves to Togo and Benin republic that is closer to your borders as compared to Nigeria? A number of your artiste these days naturally speak the Ghanaian variation pigin English, but switches to the Nigerian version to sound like us and it's cool cuz we ain't see any issue with it. If it doesn't get a commensurate appeal the way a Nigerian song does, you would suddenly bring one topic to stylishly undermine the work by making outrageous comparisons. Y’all should try and learn from Nigerians and stop d comparisons and hate. Smart artists from other African countries has featured Naija artists and it has helped their carriers. For the first time a genre from Africa is cutting across the globe and everyone is feeling it, instead of y’all to follow up with the trend and make afrobeat bigger for the whole Africa so it can be well recognized as other genres like pop and hip-hop y’all are trying to compete.

Same thing the Nigerian music industry is growing very fast and getting bigger and bigger, so it's not about who support who, it's about this Afiacan Gaint that a smaller country like Ghana can not compete with. You could have just called on Ghanaians to come out in their huge numbers to support this event and call on Nigerians as our neighboring brothers and sisters to also come and support, this Ghanaian and Nigerian music analysis you are making doesn't make sense.

I am a Nigerian living in Nigeria, I love Ghanian music, but I am sad to see it fade away, because Ghanian artist are losing their rich identity in the name of beefing and always trying to compete with Nigerians, do you have any idea how crazy about Ghanian music Nigerians were during the time of VIP and R2B??? They were all over the place... But I guess their income did not match their popularity, simply because they did not understand or activate the power of networking, Ghanian artist are terrible business men with senseless empty ego, they think this game is about competition, not realising it is about contribution, innovation and collaboration. My brothers, love is a seed, it grows, money and fan base are just benefits some of the nurtured ideas propagated in love.
Failure is a feed back and an asset, it helps you identify areas that require improvement.
You have identified a problem, I hope they don't bash you for it, instead find ways to improve your market activities. It's only when I listen to Ghanians that I hear things like 'Ghana vs Naija', Nigerians don't even think about Ghana that way, you don't occupy a typical Nigerians mind rent free...
Ghanian artist are creative, but they are distracted by petty things, envy and empty ego. There are rooms for everyone in this business, guys, you just need to find yourselves again and throw away that sense of entitlement, if don't get your mentality right and pick up your inner self, Nigerians won't have time for you, TIME NO DEY!!! I am reading the comments section of this video, most of them from Nigerians, Ghanians, when will you learn to be supportive of anybody, even your own??? This Ghana matter get as e bi. But any way what I have observed is this. If u want to make a song go global or acceptable, u have to look at 3/major factors.
    1. Song written
    2. The beat
    3. Language.
Now let's pick KIDI' from Ghana song Touch it and Lojay from Nigeria song Monalisa. Now check our the lyrics btw Touch it and Monalisa u will observe that will Monalisa lyrics makes u want to ask for more and puts ur mind in the mode of suspense. But that doesnt mean Touch it isn't good but the difference is to wide. That is one aspect Nigerians are very good at song writing.
Let's come to beat. The truth is that Ghanaians don't produce danceable beats. Check out Nigerian and South African music u will notice that the beats will make u move ur body. Even if the song doesn't make sense the beats will do the job.
Lastly make songs that are relatable in English so that it can be globally accepted.
