    Looking forward to the 2020 models with the new Bosch motor and the 625 kWh batteries!

    I understand the battery in frame will be the norm , but I have to admit I do prefer having my battery separate from the frame and separate from the structural Integrity of the frame. I can still ride my 2017 Dual Sport Plus without a battery and it will not look out of place and it will not affect the structural Integrity of it. And even if the structural Integrity of those new frames is not compromised while riding without the battery, it leaves the open area vulnerable and it will sure look stupid.

      Yeah, the price is higher on these ebikes but I also really like Trek. Great innovation, very reliable products, professional staff that's easy to work with, and lots of shops to provide support.

      @@ElectricBikeReview Hey! Happy New Year. Thanks for the reviews, they have been very helpful narrowing down what I should consider making such a purchase. So many options out there and new innovations on a weekly basis it seems. I bike about 1300+ miles a year, mostly on the road and plan on some light offroad/trail riding if possible. Thanks once again!

    Does Trek have an electric comfort/commuter bike? Now, if there was E-bike version of my old Trek Navigator 300 I would certainly jump on it!!

    Great review Court! Would like to touch on a few points with Trek:
    Curious to know what the Carbon edition retails for and at what price points for any upgrades.
    Not a big fan of the Purion display. Would like to see an Intuvia upgrade on the higher end models (as standard equipment) or as an available option if possible.
    Love the integrated motor on the carbon model, however would also like to see the same integration with the motor tilted on all of the other models reviewed in this presentation.
    I also may opt for a custom build (ie: LaMere Diode with Shimano E8000 Motor) over the Trek Carbon model for superior components and low weight in that class. Thanks 2019 will be exciting for E-bikes!

    • @RickyG225
      @RickyG225 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stefanievanderlaag5784 Exactly cheapo it is. Not sure why Trek is still using Purion on their upscale models at this price point. They s/b giving us a better interface on higher end models. A little skeptical at this point. Trek E-bikes are still great quality though!

    • @ElectricBikeReview
      @ElectricBikeReview  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, that's interesting to me as well... just because motorcycles seem more complex and weigh more. Maybe they've just been around longer and since they don't come with the expensive high-end lithium batteries you end up paying for "fuel" separately and ongoing. I think they cost more over the long run.

    • @jiw71
      @jiw71 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ElectricBikeReview only if you buy from the big guys. Price points ( (with good quality frames, suspension and components) are much lower on 'direct to consumer' and smaller manufacturers. They just don't get the 'ink' that the 'big guys' get. Do your internet homework and you will find similar quality bikes at less than half the price.

    • @petercreagh8797

      You save money not having to pay annual resistration though and in some countries it is quite high on motorbikes due to them being more dangerous.

    • @rzu7120
      @rzu7120 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ElectricBikeReview Some wonder why there are many cars that are less expensive than a lot of motorcycles! I suppose some of that boils down to mass production, and then there are manufacturers who will charge as much as people are willing to pay.

    • @novacolonel5287
      @novacolonel5287 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's not that many different tech variations, if you get a mainstream drivetrain like the Bosch, Yamaha, Shimano or Brose. Those are very common and spares will be available for a decade at least.
      You can even get new delorean spare parts today, over thirty years after they stopped making them.

    • @danimayb
      @danimayb 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's only 3 levels display available for the bosch systems, And they have changed little in the last few years! The purion seem to be the display of choice with manufacturers for it's size and simplicity... And I guess cost, Which they will give to you if you want a different display fitted.

    • @ForbinColossus
      @ForbinColossus 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@danimayb the new Bosch KIOX display is out. As one of the big three bike brands, Trek should have it on its 2019 models:

    • @danimayb
      @danimayb 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ForbinColossus Again, They prefer simplicity and keeping costs down, No doubt they will give you the option to upgrade at a cost to you rather than run with the new one, As it appears to clutter up the cockpit and will be a heavier cost. This is mainly a thing for mountain bikes for obvious reasons, The hybrids and roads you can see the manufactures going for it from the start.

    • @bsauced
      @bsauced 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ForbinColossus If they're going to skimp on any one component to meet their profit margin target, I'd rather it be the display then anything else. It's already a $6000 bike without the newer display.

    • @ForbinColossus
      @ForbinColossus 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bsauced I'd be happy with the older Intuvia display. it has to removable! Theft protection seems to be an after-thought to so many designs. Personally, I'd be scared to park thousands of dollars in public when a thief could make it vanish in 60 seconds. Back to displays, I dont need COLOR or silly images of a rider climbing a hill. Mostly speed and battery life and what power level it's set to. I still haven't learned the insurance I'd need in case it gets stolen- I'm in city using the bike for commuting and too many crooks on the prowl need to be factored into my buying decisions.

    • @novacolonel5287
      @novacolonel5287 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      An ebike takes you a hundred miles for a quarter worth of electricity. How far does your motorcycle take you for a quarter worth of gas?
      Hang on I like calculating. 50mpg, 3 bucks a gallon, 12 quarters in there so that's 50 miles divided by 12 so a tad over 4 miles. That's not very far.

    • @robertopescatore3575
      @robertopescatore3575 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@novacolonel5287 Doesn't matter how far, it's not related to the topic. Point is that these bicycles are ridiculously overpriced, much much more complicated machines cost similar amount of money.
      I would love to have an E-bike, but I can not justify a rip off.
      P.S. it's apparent that you have difficulties of understanding a text, I recommend reading 10 times think about it and then read again so that you might eventually get the idea what's being said.
