Fun fact. Bobcat now makes electric full size skidsteers. They had to detune the electric actuators cause they were so fast n had so much power it was tearing the skidder apart.
@@SuzukiKQ700owner Plenty of industrial equipment has been electric for a long time now, batteries are just making it a more portable option. Not sure how that's unfortunate. The poor build quality and engineered obsolescence is unfortunate but that's happening with everything.
@OvalRC I guess someones voice sounds like the guy who tests all tools, etc. on a TH-cam channel called Project Farm ( I think that's the channel- he's really good and thorough). It was a good video, thanks
Not everyone can afford to buy the hydraulic excavator is true! You forgot to mention that most of the electric excavators can be upgraded at a later date as hydraulic retrofits are available for most makes & models!
Ok those prices are very good! I saw some at over $8000 usd, i laughed since a chinese mini ex, that is a real one you can actually use is $6000 usd. At that point, i would buy a real mini ex and dig some real dirt. But even at 1800, these are sweet.
Great comparison video! The electric excavator arm dipper and bucket speed seems more "scale". Gotta say id rather splurge on the hydraulic one though. Are all the functions proportional?
nice video! I was eying up the electric one of these. looks great and im a big volvo construction fan. Ended up with a electric huina 1599 mostly due to cost.
Thanks for the video. Q : have you come across any scale models that FEEL like full scale and handle as such? Cars, machinery? You seem to cover lots of types.
I sell full size farm/construction equipment. I am working on an FPV RC hydraulic excavator and the video will be uploaded soon. It feels like your sitting in the real thing. I'll be releasing several videos on this topic. The Tamiya trucks and hydraulic excavators are amazing... but real expensive. The 1/14 scale stuff is mind blowing. If you can go to Cabin Fever Expo in January you should go.. over 1000 RC vehicles that look like the real thing. I'll be there!
@@OvalRC Cool, looking forward to it. For me it's the little things like the steering and initial acceleration etc being too quick that seems not scale.
@KikoFJGS Oh that's cool, yeah I think it definitely needs slowing down a bit from what is shown in the video, to give it more of a realistic heavy machinery look with its movement, in the video it kind of looks like video of an excavator working that has been sped up, the electric one seemed to have more of a realistic speed to it when digging.
@ats-3693 you can operate a full size excavator that fast, its just not good to be going so fast, can be dangerous and can break something, but they definitely can
@braxtonmarshall1883 Yeah I know you can operate an excavator fast but the fast abrupt changing of direction puts heaps of strain on pivot pins, bearings and hydraulics etc. I think the way it looks moving in the video is maybe also related to the scaling of it's size and the scaling of it's speed, for nice realism the speed needs to be scaled down a bit to match the size scaling, I've noticed it before looking at videos of RC model heavy machinery working, they often seem a bit fast and it makes them look light and toyish, slowing it all down a bit gives it more of a realistic "heavy" look to it.
Mark, good quick review of the Double Excavators, would You compare them against Huina models? I have seen several of your videos on TH-cam, does any company actually make a good RC Road Grader? RC Sparks on the channel had one of the best collections of construction equipment, but Graders seem to be very rare... Thanks
There was a road grader at Cabin Fever 2024. I asked to buy it off of him and he told me $6000 . I want a grader so bad.. i'll end up building one soon. I have a short video on my channel of one
I actually prefer the speed of the electric, the hydraulic moves the arms too fast, if you could slow that down on the flow it would be perfect though !!
I have been thinking about getting into this hobby and after your video I feel as though the electric one is better in a way because I am not as serious as some hobbyist are but i am concerned about parts like extra batteries and things failing. I see nothing on their web site about being able to call and speak with them directly does everything have to be done thru emails.
if the designers put 370 gear motors in the electric model and better escs it would be a killer machine. the electric ex is beautiful on the outside, on the inside its a rushed poor quality controlled machine. Really they should be cheaper due to the crap inside it your eventually going to have to re do.
I really like the hydraulic one best and in the l9ng term it's not that bad for price its a h obby after all and I have way more than that wrapped up in some of my crawlers and all they do is go over rocks these things can move rocks.
Are either of them limited in simultaneous boom / arm and bucket functions, meaning does it handle operations the same as a real excavator, with the ability to raise the boom while pulling the arm and curling the bucket? I purchased a similar model as a gift once and found it limited to two simultaneous functions. That was quite a let down. Thanks.
The hydraulic version allowed you to curl the bucket and move the dipper arm at the same time. I am currently working on an FPV excavator that will have SAE and ISO controls just like the real thing. The video will be up on the channel soon and can be seen at Cabin Fever this year 2025
Would take a long time digging footings for a building 😂 Each to their own but I personally don’t see the appeal playing with these things? No disrespect intended.
The hydraulic excavator moves the boom, arm, and bucket using hydraulic oil and hydraulic pressure. The electric excavator moves those parts with electric motors and actuators.
Nice job Mark! I just typed out a big long description of the difference between the two in your comments to a guy saying they had it at his hobby shop for $800 😅 see you at Cabin!!
1.49 million subs and you pull 3-10k views... the company that sent you these aren't bright and your channel is dying, at best if there aren't other shenanigans going on.
I have long form, short form, and LIVE videos. Each video format has a different audience. My short form content gets the most subscribers and the most views. Videos with no one speaking gets the most views. That's why my short videos are so popular. Videos are viewed worldwide but only a few people speak the English language. That's why some short videos get a lot views and some long form videos don't. Been doing this for 7 years now. This didn't happen overnight. Hope that helps you understand how it works
I'm sitting in a real volvo ecr235e while watching this! On a cargo log vessel, stowing logs! 😂👍🏻
Fun fact. Bobcat now makes electric full size skidsteers. They had to detune the electric actuators cause they were so fast n had so much power it was tearing the skidder apart.
Unfortunate that everything is turning electric now.

Definitely getting some Project Farm vibes from this commentary lol
Is that him? Sounds like it's him
Project farm? .. not sure what that means but I do sell farm equipment

Project farm is a TH-cam channel that reviews tools and other cool stuff. Your voice sounds kinda like his.

super cool.. another direction for my RC addiction. New sub

yes
yes the controls are proportional, you can move fast or slow to get that machine to look like the real thing
Damn good review, curious to know if i have other electric vs hydraulic construction RC's
nice video! I was eying up the electric one of these. looks great and im a big volvo construction fan. Ended up with a electric huina 1599 mostly due to cost.
Great review... what of maint concerns and costs to maintain?
Muito bom, parabens
Why do you want speed digging when it looks unrealistic? Don't you want the speed to be at scale?
ALSO congrats on almost 1.5 million subscribers!! You deserve it for all the time you and your wife put into the channel. 🤓
TH-cam is our life

nice demo

I really like the electric version with the cost being substantially less
Both cool, but actually the speed the hydraulic excavator works at when digging almost seems a little too fast, sped up looking faster than realistic.
That’s controllable…

Is there anything this good say under $400 preferably under $300? Anyone know
no. you can get a Huina electric one but its not hydraulic
Thank you
Good video 🤘
Both excavators are great out of the box. I am looking for a video of them after a longer use. Maybe some electronic issues will occure.
It's an Rc, you will definitely have some electronic issues.
and if you look closely, both have a little jar on the dash where the operators spit their tobacco. Sorry, maybe.
This a toy, ?
Most platines on the electric version goes bad half a year.

$1,800.00 the hydraulic shpuld have come with blade on it. And show should to Ecectric model.

Eu prefiro a hidráulica por parecer mais com a realidade.
The electric one clearly looks a little bigger
💪
Why not add a driver... at least the one that cost $1,7000...😂
Thought this guy was Ken Heron.
I got to find out who this Ken guy is?
😊😊😊😊
There's no way they're "identical" in size. You can clearly see that the hydraulic one is bigger. Can you get a sound card with the electric version?
yes you can get the sound card on both. They are the same size thou
Many times they were shot so that the hydraulic one was in the front. Causes a bit of forced perspective.
i will sthe orginal version why have i to lokk it in french jsut because i'm in france ....boring
The hydraulic one is cool and all, but honestly it's too fast. The electric one looked more scale realistic.
You can adjust all that with a proper set up and with these hydraulics they build up pressure unlike electric where it's instant power!
He just needs to adjust settings on valve servos to limit them especially the boom drop 🙈 drops like a rock 😅
