Thank you for the comparison. I was looking for one ever since the 2nd edition came out. It really helped because I was not sure wether I should try to get the first edition or simply buy the second. After watching your video I'll get the second edition.

I saw the new version have a "learning mode" or ultra easy mode, I recently discovered Galaxy Trucker, and I can't find the old version, so im waiting for this new version, I'm in love with the game for the app, and I'm wanting for the future to get the aliens and marines expansion reboot. 👍 good video!!
Glad my video was helpful. The app is awesome too. I love playing it a lot. Fingers crossed we get new edition aliens and marines. That one brings so much hectic fun. :)

Thank you for the comparisons! Do you think there will be expansions coming to the new version? I picked up the new version a month ago and I’m wondering if I’ll need to pick up the old edition for the expansions.

I don't know for sure, but I sure hope they will bring new versions of expansions.
It is a nice re-print of the game it would be a shame if they decide not to print the rest of the expansions.

Меня напрягает сборка корабля, как попало все открывают тайлы, а после копаются в них как в мусоре, да еще и на время. Получается игроки со временем будут строить один и тот же корабль для себя, так сказать подберут себе фит корабля и будет не очень интересно. Мне кажется нужно было эту часть по другому обыграть: к примеру берет игрок тайл и оставляет у себя (применит сейчас к сборке корабля, попозже или вовсе не применит это уже его дело, но тайл остается у него) и так по очереди игроки строят свои корабли из того что попадет к ним в руки. Так и честнее по отношению к тем кто мало сыграл партий в эту игру, ведь чем чаще играешь в эту игру тем ты лучше и чётче будешь понимать какой корабль строить и по сути будешь строить один и тот же корабль. В общем задумка у игры интересная, но игра недоработана и довольно быстро надоест, как раз из-за этих моментов.
I had to use Google translate so apologies if I misunderstood your comment. If I got it correctly you disliked the part I like the most. The chaos of building the ship itself. True, you'll most time try to build the same ship, laser at front and sides, engines on the back...but inside that needs to be protected is where the fun is. Will you go cargo heavy, or secure enough crew for challenges. Game is chaotic, and it is not for everyone...but I like the chaos of it. All of it. :)
Shield tile is an improvement, the shield area is smaller. In my first edition I had to paint some connector-lines a bit bigger on the tiles because the shield made it really hard to see the connection behind it.
To be honest I do not remember having any issues with the older version. But I'm glad they fixed it for you. :)

You mean what game dethroned Galaxy Trucker? Game is called Anachrony by Mindclash Games.

@@LifeofaBoardGamer yes! I didn't quite understand what you said in the video, sorry about that! I'll Google that game and hopefully I'll also enjoy it (even though currently my favorite board games are Pandemic & Horrified, although I'm working on a new set of custom house rules for Galaxy Trucker to make use of the credits in more meaningful ways).

Not so much fan of Pandemic but I do like Horrified.
Regarding Anachrony, it's a bit on a heavy side of games but don't be intimidated by it. Once you go through it it is pretty easy to grasp what to do and how. I showed game to a lot of people for the first time. All of them said the same thing. Looks complicated but it is not once you start playing it.
Not sure of the new art style. Looks squashed. But it may be I'm used to the old style. I feel the joint on the folding boards might not last too well. I just play the app at the moment, but was thinking about getting a physical set. Great review.
I have the app also. Play it a lot, but I still like face to face gameplay more. It's much more fun when everyone ship is falling to parts. :)
I love the artwork more than the old version, and regarding folds...I think they will hold. At least how much and how often I play the game.
Seeing you unfold into the III ship makes me very worried. The seam is so visible and it did not look like the board went nice and flat.
I have not noticed that issue with the game when I played it. But I'll gladly take a second look and report back. :)
I did the research. When you open them up they are slightly raised on the very edges. But not much (maybe 1-2 mm) to make tiles slide to the middle if that is your worry.
@@LifeofaBoardGamer Cool, my worry was that I would have to weigh down the corners, yeah
I am almost 100% confident that weight of the tiles will keep it down. Through my play I never noticed that edges were raised even a little bit.

It has more content, for sure. But if they decide to print out everything from the old version with the new artwork...I'm switching for sure. :)
