I personally enjoy Guilliman as a character he’s a pragmatist had a relatively normal childhood giving him a very down to earth vibe he can stay relatively level headed and his relation to his mom, adoptive father and the emperor is very sweet

@@mattmark94 that's something that a lot of people tend to miss/forget that the lion actually grew up without *any* human interaction.
Even Kurze had more of that. killing them, sure, but he was still around humans.
Here you have a demigod, that is allready detached from the rest of mankind just by being a primarch, not having any socialization untill fully grown. Even then he was surrounded by people valueing honor, duty, and keeping secrets.
He wouldn't understand what makes people tick on a good day.
If He had common sense he may have accepted to keep conspirators away from fresh new recruits... But hey that's just the biggest mistake he had ever done, though maybe in Lion's credit he didn't want to just kill an old friend.

The Lion has always been my favorite. He (and the Dark angels) really scratch that knight itch for me.

Everyone knows the Lion and Guilliman can't work together. The Lion needs his legion supplied and then pointed at the enemy so as to not interfere with grownup work on Terra.

Always liked the theory Lion was intended to be the warmaster but Big E chose Horus because of their connection since he was the first found and that was why everything fell apart
They both were great generals the big difference tho was that Horus had great charisma, he was able to talk to all the Primarchs in such a way that they liked and followed him. It was that charisma that was able to talk the others into turning traitor

There has been more than 80books to explain why it isn't as simple as that.
Good, better, best are subjective. In my opinion the lion is the best. By the books they are all flawed and have certain strengths meant to compliment each other. But even then the lion is the first, so I stand by my original statement.

Dorn brought in the Phalanx though. Arguably, that alone is able to take on the entire DA fleet... as you can tell by my picture I'm definitely not biased or anything lol
@@mattmark94 Yeah, they would be one of my top 3 loyalist legions/chapters, but them abandoning or outright attacking imperial forces if they "know too much" makes them seem a lot like bipolar renegades, and I love chaos (i like spiky demonic astartes and deamons), but DA portrayal is just silly sometimes. I can imagine Dark angels deploying with imperial forces to fight something scary and an Alpha legionaire sending them a message "there's a fallen in the neighboring sector" with a trollface, making them leave their allies or sth.

1993 Space hulk game for PC is what introduced me to the 40k universe, and the space marines used were the Deathwing, the 1st Company of the Dark Angels Chapter.
Dark angels were the legion that pretty much convinced me to start Warhammer 40k, although now my favorite are Imperial Fists, they still are my number two

Lion El'Johnson was pretty cool, but Jaghatai Khan was an absolute Chad and very relatable. He wasn't a stupid savage like everyone thought he was and didn't associate with his brothers because of it. He's one of the few people who saw no problem with Horas bring War Master and didn't want the title. Plus his sick burns are legendary.

I love both Vulkan and the Lion though, they're supremely based. Gigachads to the extreme.
It might be that Vulkan, unlike many of them, was .ore approachable. The last guy who questionned the Lion got his head punched off, no ifs or buts.
Vulkan (if were going with the *aspects of the emperor's persona* theory,) was never meant to be a warrior.
Vulkan is humanity. Grounded, curious, affectionate. Hell even his upbringing gives away that as a litteral demigod, he did not conquer his home world. He became a friggin blacksmith. Because that was what his father did and that was what was most useful to his people.
Vulkan is who you should aspire to be.

So I'm a big fan of the Dark Angels. This is largely due to 2 factors: Even though I haven't played tabletop since like 6th edition, that one pack that had the dark angel army, I picked that up. The other factor was reading the Dark Angel Horus Heresy books. From there I just kept reading more and more dark angel books.
So when I read this title, I click.
It's funny how every British, Australian, or New Zealander always has the Lion as their favorite primarch. He's definitely the most anglo of the primarchs, like how Gulliman is basically just an american.
Guillman is supposed to be from a techno Roman culture, he's not menat to be American.
- Never became corrupted despite growing up alone on a planet tainted balls deep in Chaos (barely remaining just shy of a Daemon World)
- Best swordsman of the Primarchs in terms of pure technique.
- Crippled the Night Lords beyond repair as a legion like they owed him money
- survived the Horus Heresy and the aftermath.
- Accepted psykers/librarians into his fold and never regretted it
I can see why The Lion has fans.

Theres one more thing to add about the chaplain that got beheaded. He wasnt just a random chaplain, he was El'Johnsons trusted son. El'Johnson couldnt relate to humans and kept asking him about things humans said or implied. Also, he regretted this incident deeply. It was just the Beast from Caliban surfacing in a stressful moment.

I want you to know I've always enjoyed your videos. Both for all the info and all the humor. But for once, I must disagree. Sanguinius is, and always will be, the greatest of them all. Even Horus admitted that the Angel should've been chosen to lead them. And even though he was exhausted and bloody from fighting for days straight against traitors, heretics, and daemons, and despite knowing he would fall, he still faced down the badly corrupted brother he had loved and gave his life for humanity and his father.
The Lion did amazing things too, and I am in no way knocking him at all. But the Angel did it all without any selfish wants or actions. He is literally Jesus of 40K.
Are you ever gonna do a video on knight worlds? We need a video on that subject, with the interesting spin only you could put on it.
