Shame on Copart for those needless gouges, you should definitely bill them for the paintwork. Very nice to see the precision that Chris insists on when using the jig and dollying the sill. Keep up the good work, guys.
Trouble is if Rob starts billing them then they might be awkward about selling to Rob and Chris in the future.
You cant bill them. You are buying salvage not a car
I’d send the invoice Copart. It’s all about good faith. You’ve purchased the car from them based on photos and since the sale it has been damaged beyond existing. When you think of all the custom that has gone Coparts way because of you guys!

Copart don’t work on good faith. It’s in the t&cs, you agree to it when bidding and buying. It literally says you may not receive this vehicle, and more damage may be on the vehicle than is visible in the photos.

Good evening Rob and Chris, firstly I think that the steering wheel airbag looks like it came like that from the factory, as it looks like the seats and the door cards. Car looks great. Well done trying to get them to pay for the paint damage. Thank you for taking the time to upload another video. Ged.

Thanks for another great video. To be honest I wouldn't bill copart, yes that damage is annoying but at the end of the day you need them more than they need you. I've worked for companies that follow the " oh well we made you mad and stop coming here, but the next guy was already walking in when you left ! " I don't see copart being any different with some of this stuff and a possible management attitude causing you problems later. Take care guys

I think most mild hybrids are 48V. When Rob said "starternator" I was reminded of the old Dynastart units!! I hired one of these last year and it was easily the nicest 500 I've driven - same colour, too.
To be fair the low prices you sell the cars for I can't see anyone not having it for the sake of a 2 tone steering wheel

The airbag is perfect. It’s embarrassing to think how many headlights and taillights have gone in the bin for a lug glad manufacturers are getting smarter. Thanks so much for sharing gentlemen. I love the color too

Totally agree with the sticker removal comment. Couple of years back I bought a van that had been wrapped and every panel was scratched when the wrap was removed. Not sure what the seller was trying to achieve as the history with previous owners details are sold with the van. Every time I got in the van for the years that I owned it I couldn’t help but think if I had been left to take the stickers off I would have taken my time and done it without damaging the paint. Obviously on selling the paint damage devalued it. Who in their right mind would think that a Stanley knife blade is the correct tool to use against paint work ?

New tyres should always go on the rear, on both
2 and 4 wheel drive cars. This is for immediate and long term protection from lift off oversteer.

I’d leave the airbag as it is as well guys it looks cool and matches the two tone in the car already. U guys should do the invoice idea and send it to copart for the additional paintwork coz they r not disclosing pictures or information of the additional damage that is on the car and they r getting away with it which is not on(a certain Audi q2 springs to mind lol)when u get it and it’s costing u more money that u expect which is an absolute pain for you guys with all the fantastic videos and content that u do.
Nice work Rob and Chris on this Hybrid 500,that subframe was slightly bent.with the parts it looks alot better.i would keep the white steering airbag as it matches the interior.

I completely understand the want to send copart an invoice for the damage they've done to the paintwork, but it might be worth talking to someone at copart rather than just sending an invoice
This is coming along nicely with Chris's skills he does make it look easy but we know it's not. I would leave the steering wheel airbag Gents, it is fine with a bit of custom trim. Who knows what they used to remove those stickers but I bet the apprentice could have done it better. It might be worth sending them an invoice just because you have nothing to lose, maybe they will take more care next time. Once again well done both of you for your hard work. 👍👍

I follow a few channels similar to this one. The amount of damage, extra damage, that’s pointed out on those channels is shocking. Within last week a Corsa which looked a tidy piece of repairable salvage had substantial roof damage on collection. Clearly acquired whilst in co parts care. Another thing worth noting is that the companies selling salvage through co part must be losing out financially. The Corsa was returned. The damage to this Fiat is just mindless. It’s been bastardised basically. I think approaching co part in such a manner as you plan is an excellent idea and others with same experience should do the same. 👍🏻

Airbag. It strangely matches the interior. Get a black one Rob, then it will not match the strange interior.

I’ve done that same sketch on an exact same car. The rivnuts were missing on my new front panel too but also check that your new crash bar has the thread for the tow eye, mine was missing, wasn’t even a thread on the opposite side.

Bought a 2019 Peugeot Expert from Copart Kent last week. Someone there had removed the sign writing with a scraper, causing so much unnecessary paint dammage on all panels, was so hacked off with them, was terrible, spoilt perfectly good paint work 🤬
Very much doubt Copart will give a dam.

On the headlight repair kits Audi A2 have had them since 2001, same idea with 2 screw holes to fit repair lug
