I do this stuff to an extent. I did a whole DIY Harry Potter party for my daughter. I made the signs for the stores, I made the candles that hung from the ceiling, the cake and everything. I don't do anything like that everyday but when it counts I do.
I did all of our Harry Potter Christmas decorations. I don't do that very often but sometimes I will. The kids loved it.

I hate that she said that being a Pinterest mom is "definitely something I wish I could do". You're raising two children and working full time (and commuting three hours every day). That's enough. What you are already doing is more than enough. I think it's fun and doable to make puzzle sandwiches once a month, but every day seems like even the children would stop finding it exciting and fun. Molded crayons are actually meant, amongst us "Pinterest Mom's" as a way to repurpose broken crayons that our little ones refuse to use. It's meant to save money, not make you spend more money to do it.
Plus, they become custom colors that some creative kids might find fun and feel pleased that they participated in making! She didn't seem to get that there's a time and place for DIYs: if you're forcing it, yeah it might feel like a hassle or a waste of money, but other times you repurpose what you've got and save money, with something new to show for it. Some of us are just naturally maker-minded, some of us aren't or don't have time to be (which is fine, because makers need there to be buyers and vice versa.)

These crafts are for adults... kids don't care. The competitiveness to appear like the cool mom who does crafty things for their kids is such a societal expectation. Some of our most fondest childhood memories have nothing to do with how decorative, cool, and over-the-top things our moms were... just the mere fact she "tried" makes for fun conversations. Stop competing to be externally acceptable mom - your kids love you no matter how fancy the cookies are!
