Another true gem of a lecture. Bless you Sister Wilson for not being a "lazy learner" but in all things applying significant effort and love with an eye of faith in Christ. My husband is not a member of the Church and Paul's words have been a beacon of hope to me these past 14 years we've been married. I love the added layers of understanding the creation. I recently read a Hebrew explanation of the letter 'reish' and the root to the Hebrew word for 'head', roshe. Just as you expounded, head points to the seed, or lineage, from the head (father) to the son (seed) - as in the head of the river flowing into the individual streams, or the head of a mountain that are the highest physical points on the earth. Instantly I understood through inspiration the connection to the Priesthood lineage, in the same way that Christ is always honoring His Head, who is His Father. It has added new insight to the way i read Lehi's counsel or pleading to his son Lemuel, if only he could be like unto this river, continuously running into the fountain of all righteousness! And Laman, to be steadfast and immovable like the valley set between the two rising cliff mountains on either side of the 'wadi'.

Sis Wilson, your point about the seed of the Gospel needing time to germinate and sprout forth is how I have felt impressed around taboo subjects like the Priesthood ban towards our brothers of African descent. An impression came to me that the timing was more about the world needing to be ready for that to happen, perhaps that also included the Church. Not about worthiness.

My mom told me that many years ago! (NOT about worthiness) The Lord of course was ready all along but he had to wait for the membership to grow and change (like the people wandering in the desert for 40 years before going into the promised land because they weren't ready etc.) And the Lord is still having to wait on us!

Thank you Sis Wilson, I appreciate the effort and time you put into these presentations. I really enjoyed this lesson. I love how you presented and delivered it. I suspected the behavior of treating women as second-class citizens was a mindset of the Pharises and others who misinterpreted the teachings. It is a reminder again and again of just how impactful incorrect doctrine is and how far and wide the repercussions are.
The ways in which women are treated today in some cultures and religious groups are the outcomes of those interpretations. That's just my take on it.
Thank you for choosing this topic to talk about Sis Wilson. It's good to be reminded that these practices are not the teachings of the Saviour and or any of his Prophets past and present.
God bless you and everyone at SC ❤.

A modern prophet always overrides a dead one. We must all remember that every person is a product of their times and situation and the Lord works through imperfect people.

Interesting bit about the head coverings. I've never understood removing hats to say a prayer. I've never understood how that could be a sign of respect. I suppose it has something to do with the scriptures you referenced. I'm still going to pray in private with whatever is or isn't on my head. As always, I loved your lesson. I really appreciate the comparison between all the bible versions.

Being overly concerned about your own due power and deserved authority is a pattern established by a certain fallen son of the morning. We can choose to focus on what we think we deserve. Or we can remember that the greatest among us is a servant, man or woman. To be among those who are overcome with charity and compassion for others, who can forget themselves and go to work. Jesus never worried about the amount of authority and power he would have after his mission was completed. He lifted the universe sized burden on his shoulders because he loved us, not because of the authority and power he would gain. Doesn't God encouraged us to fast and pray in secret and not do it before people for glory? What about the principles about pride from below? One can forfeit their righteousness because they feel wronged and slighted by deity itself. Or they can humble themselves and do the right thing because they love truth more than themselves. We are indeed taught to love our brothers and sisters more than ourselves. Those who challenge deity because of perceived injustice are full of pride, they do not have broken hearts or contrite spirits.

if the apostles and prophets are continually stating/ repeating that we are supposedly equal then there IS a problem. If it werent a problem they wouldnt need to repeat it.

    • @traczebabe
      @traczebabe 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

There wasn’t a problem. But the young adults have been being taught in school and by media that there is a problem. The problem has been created. These young people have been taught to see misogyny everywhere, and racism everywhere. Their brains are turning anything they see into those things. It’s like when a child wants a puppy, they notice other kids with puppies everywhere and feel left out. Although the number of kids & puppies did not go up in number. They don’t take in the details of the time in the Bible, How they lived, how they survived. That contributes to roles. Christ puts women & children on a pedestal. Since he does that, it makes sense that Satan would try to make it look like the opposite. Satan does that with everything the Lord stands for. Not only does he try to make it look the opposite he also works to make us believe the lies. Are there good men & bad men? Definitely. Are there good women and bad women? Definitely. It comes down to our own personal responsibility and how we treat each other. A smart man or woman is going to marry someone that loves God and wants to follow Him. If a marriage has Christ apart of it, they won’t fail. It doesn’t mean no trials or tribulations. They will get through it and know the difference between the brush strokes painted over the picture by Satan and the picture made by God. It’s the last days and Satan wants to prevent the plan of salvation for as many as he can. So he attacks family. Another way he’s doing it is by making people confused about who they are. Making women think they aren’t women unless their just like men. Making people believe abortion is no big deal. All of these things prevent families from forming and developing. It especially prevents people from becoming close to the Savior. It’s all connected. If all men were misogynistic we wouldn’t have women bosses or women in the workplace at all. Sister Wilson is right, it took time, resources & opportunities to evolve the male & female roles. If we had to go back to living off the land you would see those old roles reprise quickly. Our time has more opportunities and more roles for women & men than ever before. In my research of history most of the time women were left out of things because men didn’t want them to have to do something that was considered dirty. Acting was considered dirty. So men played women’s roles. Women weren’t given the vote because they didn’t go to war. Wars are political. And voting is about who you want to represent you, especially in a war. Men are responsible for the difficult dirty parts of life. Infrastructure, plumbing, sewer maintenance, water maintenance etc…you don’t see women flocking to these roles. Women want corporate roles. That’s not equal. Men do all the physical heavy lifting and jobs women won’t do, as well as corporate jobs. There’s so much more to consider before we jump to misogyny in any time.

That's where I get a little confused. Why was woman taken from man close to kind of understanding but woman was taken from man's body instead of vice versa it can be so confusing

I think people will always find fault with scriptures. I wonder if the church contributes to these issues by engaging with world cares. I am more puzzled to the fact that you are not allowed to wear the beautiful elegant apparel you used to previous to this year. The fact that you as a woman can distract from the message with your clothes seems more concerning in our era, as we are supposed to be liberated. I see all episodes here where men wear anything from dark to light colours.

    2 things
    -- feminism hates the family
and Christianity so seeks to misread
... so beware deciding by current worldly
    standards which have proven unable
    to build happiness
-- we have no clarity on the specific
    situations Paul was addressing (which
those addressed would know) and so
its unjust to presume hes talking about
    situations that seem relevant now
    ... so beware distrusting scripture
when youll later slap your head saying
"well if you told me THAT..." after all
    is clarified

It's so depressing and pathetic... We have a patriarchal religion, that's what the scriptures say (it doesn't mean women are inferior). But, you are afraid of the progressive sect, so you try to justify yourself (excusing) with shame on your face... How sad.
"there's no patriarchy in the church" This is ridiculous and false.
“Now there are those among us who are trying to serve the Lord without offending the devil.” (James E Faust, quoting Elder Marion G. Romney)
