The Problem With some Igbo traders is that they don’t understand Lagos has a master plan. I could recall when some make shift market were demolished in Oshodi by Fashola, they were saying, they are targeted! Go to oshodi today, more so, when some demolition took place in Yaba. Lagos is a model city for Nigeria, we should give the government a chance to develop it, so that we can be proud of our city.. Eko o ni baje.

There are many Yorubas and Hausa in South East. You will hardly notice because majority of the Yorubas speak English. They're plenty in Orlu, Nkwueze and mostly in Owerri, you will see a lot of Hausas.
There is Yoruba man that bought land and built company in Owerri and no one has ever disturb him nor any other Yoruba.
What's happening in Lagos today was one of the lack of trust some Igbo will have towards giving out their land inheritance in exchange of money to Yoruba who will like to invest in the East because many Igbo residing in the East have one time in their life travelled to Lagos and had bad experience and many of those who've not read news.

If I am Babjide Sonwolu, I would have the audacity and the transparency to look for Peter Obi and appeal to him to be part of this meeting and media briefing. I would get Peter Obi to address the public as Hope Uzodima has. Making governance an APC affair all the time, still sends out the same politically clandestine message that makes no difference. How many Banks have their headquarters in Portharcourt or Kano? All important government agencies have lagos offices, even headquarters, and all the oil companies have their real headquarters in Lagos. Every Nigerian has the right to speak out cos there is freedom of speech. Be it a Yoruba living in Anambra or an Igbo living in Lagos. As long as the constitution of Nigeria remains what it is, every person regardless of tribe and religion can vote and be voted for in any part of Nigeria. It is a shame that in the 21st century when our peers like South Korea and Singapore have attained first world status, we are still 3rd World and still we are still approaching things with third world mentality. Instead of us holding leaders accountable, the poor masses are fighting over Inconsequentials like tribe and religion while still wallowing in extreme poverty with so many futures destroyed by these crooked politicians that span from Anambra to Zamfara. Most of these tribal bigots can't boast of a savings of 1 million for each of their kids, but we have politicians whose kids own a house of 10.8 million pounds thats equivalent to 10 billion naira, thats a million 10,000 times, they destroy the future of you and your kids and you
call them leaders. If Nigerians can't
cohabit in love then let's split so each tribe can focus and deal with their own crooked political leaders without the distraction of tribal bigotry, manipulation and conflict.

The meeting between Lagos and IMO governors, and others is just a window dressing. The disagreement between the two groups is deep rooted and very fundamental. In fact, it is deeply cultural. Unfortunately, there is no space or time for that.
The issues are so deep rooted that they have become two parallel lines. I am more interested in specific solutions.
In order to avoid constant clashes and recriminations, l believe the time has arrived for southwest states to enact state laws that non Yorubas should not be allowed to participate in local and state elections, but only on Federal or national elections. This is necessary to preserve sanctity of local issues from being unnecessarily polluted by non residents of the states. Afterall, elections are always local.
This is a universally accepted concept that has solved or reduced tensions in many European countries.
And the enactment does not stop non Yoruba residents in the South West from conducting businesses there.

The five governors of the Southeastern states plus those of Rivers and Delta states, because there are Igbos there too, should joined this effort instead of each governor going it alone as some had already done i.e. strategic thinking and action. The Southeast governors are from different political parties, yes. But they all represent people of the same ethnic group-Igbo. Why not go together and collectively talk on behalf of all Igbo? The unintended consequence of a centrifugal approach is that people from some Igbo states may face discrimination. But a centripetal approach is a collective approach and therefore protects all Igbo.
