Cause not everyone is a show off. They didn’t know each other and she’s unsure of the protocol. She’s not accustomed to being around any kind of dignitaries. If she did too much of that, attention would have turned to her and stayed on her. Neither of them wanted that.
As a french, it's funny for me to see this. Those actors à not french, the way they speak french, we can ear an accent. And, why the well always talking about the guillotine and Louis XVI ? History of France is not all about the Revolution and guillotine. And this anecdote is wrong : guillotine was used for the first time in 1792, Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette was already defeated. But I like this movie anyway. :)
