I always loved coming into port in the early morning hours seeing the city lights of new cities and countries and wondering what we would see. Especially when you were on watch and walking the main decks forward and aft and standing at the bow of the ship. Once on watch during the day time I was looking out in front of the bow down at the water line about 15 meters or more and just watching the ship breaking through the water and saw a huge whale come up from under the ship and was racing us. Guess he wanted to see if he could beat us. We were probably going around 15 mile an hour or so, because top speed was around 21. Not that fast of a ship back then. 🥰
