      Do you have locs or "loose" natural hair? I love the rosewater idea. I've been using distilled water mixed with a peppermint/lavendar essential oil mix to spray my twists before putting in a leave in conditioner. But I have hard water...I'm flummoxed as to what to do about rinsing pre- poos, shampoos and conditioners out of my hair during the different steps!!! Do I need to purchase several bottles ot purified water for "wash day?" Not good for the environment not to mention labor intensive!☹️

    I get my hair retwisted every 7 to 8 weeks. My retwist usually last for at least 4 weeks. I wash my hair myself at the 6th week...the next wash is when I see my loctician...I slowed down my workouts but even then I wouldn't wash my hair until about the 4th week...so🙄 Everyone's loc journey is different and that what I LOVE ABOUT THIS PROCESS. • @GypsyCurls

    My retwist lasts for about 2 weeks. That is the average give or take a few days. Hair is constantly growing. The main purpose for a retwist is to gather the new growth and make sure it stays within the loc and to keep the integrity of locs for those that are not free forming/semi-freeforming. It is not really for aesthetics per se. One of the ways that some get theirs to last a bit longer is by styling options (two strand twists, barrel twists…), tying your locs down when sleeping/resting, and definitely tying it down if you work out, this may help it lasts a bit longer. But I still think that no matter what, 2 weeks winds up being the longest.

    I LOVE Wild Growth oil for sealing. I have also found that warming my water or leave in really penetrate my hair better. My retwist from the salon last about a week and a half from home lasts about 15 mins..lol

    thanks for the tips, I'm trying to retwist myself but it seems like it "looks" retwisted for about 2weeks. I just started using flaxseed eco style gel to retwist and I've been loc for a little over a year. I'm going to try rose water on my locs, and in my daughter hair to try to keep the moisture.

    Thanks for sharing the information about oil being a sealant. I am transitioning from interlocking to twisting my roots, and my first retwist lasted a week. I wore it braided for about 4 days to get fullness. But it gradually just loosened up, and is now frizzy.

    Do you use a dryer on your retwist? I have been locking for 15 years. My lock were not blow dried until about 11 yes when I attended a hairdresser. It would take 4 hrs to set otherwise. I don't retwist more than once every 3 months.

      you should not be retwisting your hair that often you're going to have breakage overtime I made the same mistake when I first locked 2 years ago you're better off retwisting every two to three months

      @ericaj6092 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Missegyptlatesha ok. Thank you for the advice however I don’t retwist every 2-2 1/2 weeks.... I wrap my hair up for a while and then retwist as needed. 😊

    Hi sis. I'm glad I came across your video. I use water mix with vitamin e, tea tree and lavender and spray my hair morning and evening. Is that ok? Also what sealing oil do you recommend?

  • @EstherLove
    @EstherLove 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi! I know this video is old, but I’m having issues with moisturizing my scalp. It’s like you said oils are meant to seal the moisture so what I was doing before was applying the oils directly to my scalp and it made my scalp dry and it created dandruff from being so dry. What leave ins do you recommend to use? And also as for my water based product I mix aloe Vera juice with water and add jojoba oil, peppermint oil, & tea tree. Is that a good mix? I’m still trying to see what products work for me, but everything I try my scalp still becomes dry.

    • @crystalgriffin6057
      @crystalgriffin6057 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had this issue. On my wash days about every 2- 4 weeks I put aloe vera plant on it..check out a video on it. Rinse it out only..then maintain my hair by daily sparying it with distilled/rose water first then I oil my scalp Now I Never have dry hair or scalp & my locs grow like crazy!!!

    I just cut 12 inches off of my 26 inch locs i retwisted them as well (july 25th) i been growing my locs since 2013 5 inch trim after a year. My scalp stays dry so I'm always scratching. I use your DIY loc mixture ( flaxseed tea tree Castor jojoba oil) moisture doesn't stay in my Locs very long neither does the retwist I say two weeks later I have a slight fro most likely from me scratching. I cut that much off because there were a lot of space things from my interlocking and having different people retwisting made those locks look weird so I did a major chop and I'm hoping to be more consistent in my retwist in my washing but I seriously need help with moisture and keeping my scalp from itching so much I love your Channel I used to watch it all the time before you had the twins but I fell off but I'm back now LOL

    • @naturalbeauty0214

      Thanks for coming back! You probably have low porosity hair like I do which makes it difficult for your hair to absorb moisture. Hot showers will help open your hair cuticles to absorb moisture. Try apply your moisture products after showers.

    My mom, stepdad and little brother oil their dread EVERYDAY. But I don’t, I oil 2-3 times a week. I have 4c hair, I have the toughest and thickest hair in my household. My mom tells me to oil it everyday but personally I believe I shouldn’t oil it everyday because my hair keeps in moisture especially water. The oil would stay in my hair for 1-2 days then when the smell of the oil is gone, that’s when I know to oil it again.. should I listen to my mom or keep doing what I’m doing? Someone help me out🥲

    You are so Beautiful.
    My twist turned locs, are tailbone length with over 230+. I agree with the liquid oil method. My retweet is 2 months, my goal is to get to 3 months. To prevent from locs thinning. The longer they become, I have to consider & protect the
    foundation/base/roots.

    I don't have the means to retwist properly so I use rubber bands until I can get to big city to have someone do it for me. Is this ok? My problem I just noticed is I thought the rubber bands would just break and fall out naturally BUT THEY ARE NOT. WILL THIS Damage my locks in the future?? Please help.
