There was a golden nugget in the lobby. There were double decker buses called the Stage Coach, that took people from Bergen County to the Golden Nugget for a day trip. Ah memories!
The only time I was ever in there was when it was the Golden Nugget. It was SUPER nice. As you showed the building, I could still see the Nugget characteristics. Love the new plans!
As many times we took junket flights to AC NJ we never stepped foot in that casino and walked by it several times. One thing that killed Revel was (though we loved it) was a non-smoking casino. Also the state effed up by not completing the road just past it; huge boulders were there. One thing I didn't like is that so many intersections there could be served by rotaries vs traffic lights. We'd take the jitney to our favorite Borgata. The lights do not have traffic sensors and one time it went red waiting for traffic, which there was none coming from Hard Rock. Stationed @ Ft. Monmouth, NJ the signals up there had traffic loops to detect traffic. I remember one very early morning an LTC was ahead of me and we waited and waited for it to turn green. She finally went through it. Even the signals outside post were the same, might as well have been on a timer like old days.

I read that after hurricane Sandy was over Steve Wynn called them and said how is my building? i'm happy to see what is planned for it, I always guessed they would either tear it down, or make it into affordable housing, that's all the boardwalk needs is a project building/ sorry keep the boardwalk clean! LOVE THIS UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope he is successful with his renovations. Atlantic city needs all the help it can get. I suspect that $2 million condos might be hard to sell. The hotel rooms might be hard to fill mid week and in the off season.

Honestly I'll believe a Hyatt or Hilton when I see it. If either one of those brands wanted to be there they could just develop on their own. Just my humble opinion. I hope they do though.
@@richardhales92 Showboat is still mostly a hotel. They don't have condos but they do have rental units from studios to three bedrooms. Starting at about $1100 and going up to about #2500. These are located in a tower seperate from most of the 'hotel'.
Back in my early days of staying in AC, we’d stay at The Continental… until it was razed 😔 but Golden Nugget’s location… even when it was poppin’ and new, it was a challenge to make myself walk all the way down that far from my central location. Never gave it a chance to form as a memory of my nostalgic AC years back then ☺️

I can't believe it's been closed that long me and my gf would go there for an hour or two and she liked it, Iwas was playing BJ there and I had one of those little e cigarettes that had just come out and had a red light when you drew on it and the Pitt Boss said what is that and I said it's a James Bond cigarette I only played on the table for thirty minutes and when I checked he gave 80 comp dollars.

My friend John, he was a doctor, and he used to travel the world for 3 months and I asked for his itinerary and I loved following him. I googled the places he was going to visit and it was a joy to know he would be visiting such places.
It was all gold, Richard. Being the common people, we didn't have the gold toilet seats. Is that too harsh? I remember, I don't know if it was here, but there was an owner of a casino, not President Trump, in AC who kept trying to get it on with his staff; he loved the women. And the women, instead of pressing charges for harassment, took him to court and the agreement was that he had to go upstairs to his wife at 9pm every night and leave the women alone on his property forever and a day. Anybody remember that guy's name? He passed away young, I'm sorry to say. Seems like a fitting story, a true story, and the women were fair in that they didn't take him to the cleaners, just sent him up to his wife where he belonged.

When it was Hilton at least in the very beginning it was very successful. If I remember correctly they had a beach bar that was jumpin.
