I think Betty has the coolest voice ever. It's so unearthly and strange, but in a beautiful way. How have you never deconstructed her "Memory?" Seth, get on that shit!
Seth In 86/87 I was up for the show, big time. There were so many endings for the part and there were 3 of us in the finals We were told to stand in the back for two weeks to see the endings so to incorporate into final callback.I saw Betty and Donna Murphy (a good friend) do the role for two weeks. There is an optional note at the end if the gals don't feel up to singing the high (F? E?) Too bad I don't have the real score. Anyway...Betty-only lower note at matinees. Donna-you never were sure !
What I'm obsessed with in this song is that it's almost all spoken and then randomly the last section of the song she's singing. Just wondering why that is. I don't know the show, but don't know many other songs like that so just wondering!
In RP English accents the name "Jasper" is pronounced similarly to how you would say it "JASS-per" as opposed to "JAH-sper" as you say in this. It's one of those weird anomalies of our country's language and accents. Not a dig, just saying! :-) I love when Buckley sings high. It's inhuman.
Seth this recording is a half step higher than the cast recording!!!! I was amazing. Just. Casual F. Betty. Buckley. Is. Unstoppable.
*hits last note*
producers: SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY.

Can't get this song out of my head since hearing Stephanie J. Block kill it last night. Drood at Studio 54 is brilliant. GO.

Hmmm...don't know. It's so many generations old. In the real score it's an E. Maybe it was higher in the reading?!?!?

That high E at the end is an F. Is your tape recorder running fast?
Classic Seth!
I heart minutiae.
You got the last note wrong. In this version it's an F not an E. But either way, she still slays.
