Your theory is correct as the game describes dark element in the energy details as a radiation generated by the radioactive elements stored in the frame, but there's another "energy" (or just element) that's called mixed. Most definitely gonna be a combination of two (or more) elements in one frame but I wonder when will Kuro Games release a mixed element frame
hold on a second, where do you find these energy details? I've never encountered it as far as I know and it's the first I'm hearing of it edit: I found it thank you so much for pointing this out to me!
Brother I’ll give it to you right now, it’s electricity But on a serious note the mechanisms to create “lightning damage” range from static electricity to like making plasma so maybe I will do a video on it in the future
I might have a slightly different theory. What if it's dark matter energy a.k.a. dark energy. But since dark matter can't be observed visually so Kuro decided on black colour for dark type effects. Also the radioactive thing might be true for Kamui's weapon but wouldn't it be really inconvenient for humans on Babylonia or even the commandants? Sorry, my point of the comment wasn't to invalidate your theory. I just felt like I should present my theory as well. I really enjoyed your video regardless. Please keep making more videos like this. 🙏
I'm really grateful that you shared this! If my videos get people theorizing and thinking about the lore of pgr even deeper then I'll be quite happy. the dark energy theory makes a lot of sense to me, it's a bit hard for me to get behind on a personal level because the idea of dark energy feels too close to zero-point energy and I can't see why babylonia would be able to harness one and not the other. But that's just a personal hangup about storytelling, I think it's definitely a possibility!
I found this channel looking for a summary of the game's story so far, as I started playing recently and I'm excited to know more about it, specially about the events I couldn't play, but I can't seem to find much about it unfortunately, so I would like to suggest this as video content if you ever find it interesting :) I'm very excited that I found this channel, I have so many questions on the lore and on constructs, and it's fun to discuss them!
About Alpha, it is said on her info that the Punishing Virus has little to no impact on her performance... Which is impressive, considering she is still a regular Lotus Frame on Crimson Abyss form.
I thought before that Dark damage in PGR takes its beginning in gravity powers. Watanabe 2 frame and also Selena amplifier patch made me think so. In Wata case it synergies with the idea of cosmos. Selena's patch introduces some affixes for a player and one of them(which buff dark element) is all about black holes. Also we have Luna. A lot of her skills are named with the influence of stars and cosmos. 21's orb skills look like great pushes to the ground. The Future Karenina frame also has some black hole related skill it seems. But radioactivity also could be the case..
Forsaken? More like forgotten Honestly though I think watanabe fits in more with Kamui in how his frame works, probably he has like an internal radioactive energy source that goes into overdrive hence his core passive
After some reading and comparing. using the Punishing virus in combat is coincidental and is most likely there to improve their body to more inhumane levels than they can be although a special type of radiation is possible but there are some things that don't connect. My Theory is that the "Dark" element is some sort of telekinetic/psychic power Luna and No.21 are probably one of the most powerful Dark users lore wise and the dark element is not an always active element because there is specific trigger/condition in order to deal dark damage for example: No.21 needs to attack 5 times in order for a "twilight matrix" to fall and explode. Vera Rozen needs to change modes/use her signature move and her "Mass Illusion" which can be filled up and deal a burst of dark damage . Luna needs to attack after a dodge or use her signature move and "Annihilation state" . Watanabe 3 ping or change modes/use his Signature move. Camu needs to change modes/use his signature move Kamui needs to change modes/use his signature move. i think that "CORRUPTION" is the biggest trait in this group that can tell them apart among other constructs. the more powerful the dark user is the more unhinged and unstable the person is for example: Vera Rozen... i think its obvious there is something wrong with her. Camu and Kamui is two sides of the same coin, Camu being unstable and a much more powerfull dark user and Kamui being more normal/sane but is weaker in terms of the "DARK" power. No.21 will go bat shit insane if introduced in a traumatic/stressful environment and use her "DARK" powers and destroy everything she sees. Luna is somewhat similar to Vera although she is technically insane and is genuinely powerful she has this *PERFECTIONIST GOD COMPLEX* plus Kamui in general is resistant to most things and No.21 body might be too weak but considering that she has been experimented on all of her childhood she might be resistant to radiation with her weak body.
I like the idea that dark is related to like, mental states and personality and it fits well thematically. But it was brought to my attention by another commenter that if you click the element symbol in the members menu, it just tells you what the elements are and it literally says dark is radiation. So that’s kind of anticlimactic. I would have put it in the video but I literally didn’t know you could click there Also I think by “radiation” it might not necessarily be nuclear radiation but could also be EM or something like that, which would explain characters like 21 and Luna a bit more clearly
If i understood this correctly: - punishing virus resistance is possibly correlated to radioactive radiation resistence - dark dmg is radioactive poisoning Questions: 1) Punishing virus infected creatures can't be immune to radioactive radiation, because they take dmg from dark weapons, right? 2) So shouldn't the corrupted, or even luna who uses dark weapons, take self damage?
the frames of constructs that deal dark damage actually have some radioactive materials within, so presumably when they were designed and produced there was some sort of precaution taken against it things infected by the punishing virus do seem to have heightened resistance to radioactivity though, like Kamui resisting radiation effects due to the tenebrion
I always thought of dark damage as gravity, since there is no light aspect, but we do have fire and "gravity" as a type doesn't sound as cool! But after watching, I can totally agree that radioactivity or corrosion makes sense!
At first I thought the same, but the interesting thing is that the completion of a grand unified theory in the pgr world means it might be possible to cause gravity phenomena from radiation energy or something like that
More lore vid plz. Since the beginning I always see the dark damage as a corrosive force but where it cames from is still a mystery for Me. Like we know that Elite forces contruct frames are able to manipulate some basic elements like fire, thunder and ice and Powerfull being like Ascendant being able to control more powerful forces like gravity (I'm not really sure if it is gravity tho) for Gabriel and Water/Sea for Lamia. So I always wonder what is the situation of dark element lore-wise for being used by both Ascendant and construct ? I mean if a High Grade Ascendant like Luna Also use this force that means it must be quite a destructive power to hold...Also I will like to add another mention of the corrosive property of the dark element in the bathlon Memory 4pc effect there also a corrosive Area like the Vera's ultimate one which inflict damage over time.
the interesting thing about using gravity to fight is that PGR has a grand unified theory in their world, so it's conceivably possible to, by some mechanism, use high energy output to cause phenomena like gravity distortion - this is most likely why characters who fight with gravity attacks like Luna are very strong ones
Lighting is most dangerous and unstable frames. Assasins like garnet or lux (yes lux she have niche build to make something horrible to enemy's cuz they cant move and still lose "life") Lighting = Freedom Corrosion - dark is second unstable M.I.N.D what alive nightmares and share their consciousness with other frame what is part of another M.I.N.D. most dangerous power also fot the user (lore of camu - revenge, luna - revenge, tenebrion - revenge, no21 - revenge, vera - vera) Dark = Power Ice are the secret weapon of Babylonia with tools what can frozen not only enemy's but also the frame for cooler virus affix and very high survival in the battle by frozing vital fluid inside frame. Ice = Life Fire is still secret for players on Global. Only 2 frames use 100% fire elements and we don't know why. In my opinion fire is something what destroy frames inside their mind somehow, but very effective vs corrupted. Fire is used by Lee, sophia, Lotus and blast more like a tool's not like Empyrea or Roland (both are blessed by Merciful) Fire = Hope or Death? Everything is just my opinion and fable in my mind. At the end i need send cheers for producer of this channel. I look forward for more lore here
My dumb head canon be like; Luna, Camu, and Tenebrion have been corrupted by Punishing virus, and can use the power at will. While Alpha, although she is an ascendant, she only uses her raw sword skills, without the virus help. Rozen and XXI are members of Cerberus who have wild-like and feral nature in the battle. Though this stupid theory has been denied by Garnet. And Astral... He's just likes sneaking inside Commandant's room at night.
interestingly there is a little bit of punishing virus power used in Alpha's swordsmanship, it's particularly mentioned when she fights Gabriel. But yeah in a lot of games "dark" damage types are kind of just "evil" but it seems in pgr they tried to give it a bit more solid definition
Yeah big thing I missed because I didn’t have it when I made the video is also that astral’s weapon states it uses radioactive materials to deal damage. Completely forgot he existed too rip uncle
we need more lore people in this community
the 4 main elements:
(frozen) water,
fire,
…lightning,
and corrosive radioactive material
long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony
but everything changed when the radioactive material nation attacked

edit: I found it thank you so much for pointing this out to me!
I love your videos, and your voice, its very relaxing (edit: used the word chill, thought it sounded weird)
This is a really informative and wholesole video, defo subbing!!
aww thanks! since I'm new to lore content I was worried it wouldn't get the idea across, I'm glad you liked it!
I should note that Watanbe astrals weapon, peacemaker, also contains radioactive material to cause more damage.
Fantastic video, waiting on the Lightining element Lore
Brother I’ll give it to you right now, it’s electricity

1:02 that's uncle slander

So you tellin me my Selena is radioactive? ay time to get radiation then.
I'm breathing in the chemicals *sniffa*
I never thought someone would do this.
I am glad that you could not anticipate my existence

I thought the same but it’s radioactivity, I didn’t include it in this video but there’s an element description page that just confirms it outright
You sound like sucrose giving a lecture and im all for it
Man. Have a sub. Give more videos like this. I'm obsessed with this game and boi be happy to see more videos of this amazing game.
1:02 Luna is the only Dark Attacker? What about Unky Watanabe's Astral version? 😂
Forsaken? More like forgotten

Thank you for making this Vid! Instant sub

Are… are you real??? PGR lore person??? Omg I love you
not only am I real I am also working on an inver-device video right now so hopefully that goes up within the next several hours

this was so on point, one thing you forgor tho is that we have dark damage Watanabe, as forgettable as he is.
apparently his frame has some special considerations for stellar radiation, another comment brought it up and I thought it was really interesting!
I always thought of dark damage as gravity, since there is no light aspect, but we do have fire and "gravity" as a type doesn't sound as cool!

So... Dark represent radiation in short. Could it be why there's no "light" element since it was in a way, radiation kinda thing? 🤔🤔🤔
I think so yeah, I’m light and dark typically oppose so idk what “light” in pgr would be. Purification maybe?

beautiful and immaculate
we are bussin
This was quite a informative vid

who is gray raven and why are we punishing them?

TY SO MUUUUCH!!!!!!!!!!!
Dark damage is just damage but dark
Pretty simple ngl
why didn't I think of that
Well Watanabe Astral is also Dark type, but eh
Yeah big thing I missed because I didn’t have it when I made the video is also that astral’s weapon states it uses radioactive materials to deal damage. Completely forgot he existed too rip uncle
