Just a note, is there a way to make the spong a bit fluffy and soft because this seems to be too dense. The spong would not bounce back when pressed but instead it creates a dent. I carefully followed the instructions. Is it supposed to be like that? As well in Bombay Hyderabadi cake, one layer seems to be white instead of both layers chocolate. Please advise.
The sugar syrup would moisten the cake , other alternations in ingredients may also cause it to be dense. Moreover it’s not supposed to be that soft and fluffy cake like the others
I just made this cake today. Hoping for it to be turned out good. Just the frosting confuses me, as the recipe says to put the frosting in the refrigerator, until use. But when I took the frosting out it was all hard. I have to microwave it to make it soft
Frostings that are butter-based get hard in fridge, just like how butter solidifies in fridge. You did the right thing by microwaving it slightly. If you live in a colder area you can even leave your frosting outside for some time but if it’s hot where you are storing it in the fridge till use is recommended.
I pour enough to wet the sponge. If you pour enough, the sponge gets really soft. Try to pour it on side too, because some of my cake sides were dry because I wasn’t pouring syrup on the sides. So the middle sponge part was all very soft and moist

Preheat the oven on both grills then bake the cake with only lower grill half in between on the both grills. Hope it works for you 🤞🏻
