Bro my first chainsaw ever was a Husqvarna 440 and I got it to cut some small trees down on my second home. I'm a former linemen so being in the trees was the easy part. The thing is a beast. As a first time chainsaw owner I definitely didn't do all the things I shoulda to take care of it. You ask anyone and the thing really shouldn't even work today. It's even fallen out of a weeping willow while I did some trimming. Still runs like a champ. I actually do maintenance on it now but for a few years it was not treated right and it's still a little beast. Really long story short, all of my yard equipment is now Husqvarna.
Hey bro ya made a good decision. I have a 450 rancher and I just put a new Husqvarna c83 x cut full chisel chain on it and it cuts like a beast. I've had my rancher for over a year now and no problems at all, and I love it. Like you said Stihl saws are great saws but huskys are awesome.
Have you had issues with it leaking bar oil? They have an automatic oiler so new screw adjustment. I just bought one but haven’t used it yet. I wish mine had a decompression valve! Wonder why people who have older models are saying theirs has one.
I will tell ya what bro. I own a husky 450 rancher with a 20 inch bar and recently ive neen using the crap out of it pruning and cutting a realy overgrown tree and i have a huqvarna x cut c 83 full chisel chain on it and its been just decimating that tree. And i love my husqvarna 450 rancher. The best chainsaw made.
My second saw was a Husky 50, only problem with it, was a choke lever that wouldn't stay on choke. Very smooth! My second saw was a 346xp, still my all-time favorite. I have heard a lot of good things about the 550xp mark 2. I think Husky probably makes the best 50 cc saws. If you know someone with a 550 ask them if you can try it for a few minutes, you will likely be sold. I would need more time with Stihls to give a better assessment.
I have beaten my rancher hard , cutting for hours on end tank after tank Toss it around in the woods never changed the plug or air filter had it for about 10 years It fires right up and works great to this day with only a new chain oiler and starter engagement since they are made of plastic they break some times. Great chain saw I’m a big fan But may upgrade to the 550 or 545
Mines a 2010 so I got it in '10 or '11. Haven't touched adjustments yet. What I did do is replace oiler w one from 455/460 when I went to 20" bar . Mine starts kinda hard when it's hot (saw not weather). Love it , hard to not grab it. But I just got an echo 590... I think you might wanna try your low adjustment if it's still bogging down when ya hit throttle. Love the combo kill/choke lever yet? Once its warm just grab and pull, not fartin around w kill switches (or levers) or chokes again
I have been going back and forth on which one I was buying the Stihl farm boss or Husqvarna 450 rancher. Now I know going with the 450 Rancher. Thanks great video.
I bought a completely rebuilt farm boss and love it. Getting the Husqvarna 450 this week. I like to learn. Same reason I have Milwaukee, Makita, skil and Makita tools lol
The Husqvarna 450 Rancher Chainsaw is only about ~11 pounds, and supposedly runs at a higher RPM in comparison with other standard chainsaws for likely gaining the higher 50cc energy output. Also has a more narrow kerf compared to other heavier similar ~15 pound 40-50cc chainsaws. Also, 20 inch bars versus 16 inch bars reduce the amount of bending over when cutting objects near the ground. Regardless, the 450 Rancher seems to be very popular and will be working with one likely soon. Only one con or downside I see, the lightweight and higher 50cc energy output, kickbacks will be a little more aggressive as there is less weight restricting the kickback.
If you like that saw you would cut a ton of time with the 550mk2. Especially if you sell firewood production is key! Its like night and day in cutting time sawing on wood! I had the 455 husky and finally got the 550mk2 and its like going from a pinto to a Lamborghini!
the reason i bought my 450 was bc i wasnt a fan of similar size saws from Stihl. like u said, hard to start, my rancher starts all summer and winter long.
Stihl is tricky to start, you are suppose to give it a couple of pulls with choke open then close it and keep pulling until it starts. You can flood those to easy and they would be a pain to start if you do
If you follow the starting procedure outlined in the Stihl owners manual they start no problem. I have Stihl saws that are 25 years old and they all start no problem, if you follow the procedure it was designed to start under.

They are tough. I am also guilty of being hard on not only my chainsaws but about everything I own. Those machines just keep on going.

They can definitely take a beating and I am pretty hard on mine as well. I hope I can get 10 years out of it. Thanks for the comment, take care.
Thanks for the review. Good job.
It's an old video, I know! Why didn't You buy the 545 II? You get ist for 650 box and its a pro saw. Best wishes from Austria!

Get a 455, or 460 rancher. They rock.

Thanks for sharing
What length bar comes standard with the 450?
20"
Mine came w 18" 12 yrs ago.
Husq may start easier because it has a primer bulb. My Stihl TC 201 has no bulb and is a little tough start but is a little monster.
Thanks for the review! RLTW!
All the way. Thanks for watching.
You should also be a fan of PPE, Just sayin.
