The original mini-series is 3 hrs not 4+ and me personally and I suspect a lot who love it never skip watching it in it's entirety. Why? Because it's GOOD and interesting. Great acting too. Can you imagine skipping any of James Mason's scenes? I can't.

This film felt like a highlights reel of a much longer film. It had lots of potential, it just needed more time. The lack of the Marsten house really hurt the story. Here’s hoping we will see Dauberman’s 3 hour cut.

Yeah the three of us agreed that a longer presentation would benefited the story. Just seemed too rushed from the middle on. Luckily there was some nice moments to remember. Thanks for supporting the channel! -Bob

Did we even see Ralphie Glick as a Vampire? Was that his arm that got Danny in the back yard because the hand land wrist ooked quite large. And it may have been him crawling on the outside of the Tree House but we never really saw Vampire Ralphie.

Good observation! The story sure did speed up a lot about halfway through the movie. Thanks for supporting the channel! -Bob

Barlow is not discovered in the Marsten house in the novel. Thats the Tobe Hooper version. He's actually discovered in the basement of Eva Millers boarding house in the source material and in the 2OO4 Mikael Solomon version. I would have preferred Dauberman to stick to kings excellent source material. I hope one day king's superb novel is filmed properly, as its never been done properly yet. 🙂✌️

Thank you for the informative comment, and I (Mark) will be the first to admit that I haven’t reread Kings novel in probably 20 some years because I became such a hard-core nerd for the Hooper miniseries that I can guarantee I have blurred the lines if not shattered them all together about what’s from the source material what’s not from the source material. I love that novel has such a huge fan base and we’re all really stalwart in holding it so close to our hearts that we want it done so correctly. I truly feel that a miniseries is the only way it could do Kings novel Justice I mean like HBO miniseries in 12 parts something like that because the simplest of things like the knives at the bottom of the remove stairs, could’ve been a great scene for that new version, but even that was omitted, but I digress, thank you so much for your comment it is so appreciated here on our channel and more importantly thank you for actually watching and being able to jump on board with your thoughts.

I saw it in the cinema recently and have to admit I was quite impressed! I loved John Benjamin Hickey's convincing portrayal of Father Callahan. William Sadler was also great in it as Parkins Gillespie. Matt Burke was very well played by Bill Camp, as was Makenzie Leigh as Susan Norton and Lewis Pullman as Ben Mears. Pilou Asbaek made a decent Straker, but was perhaps abit too smooth and suave, and not chilling enough. Young Jordan Preston Carter was amazing it it as monster mash kid, Mark Petrie. I've heard Gary Dauberman's original cut was three hours and I'd really love to see this. The soundtrack by Elizabeth Scott and Nathan Barr was very good, I thought. Fitted the movie very well. The vampires looked good, particularly Mr Barlow, played well by Alexander Ward. All in all, a very good movie, I thought. Quite impressive!! 🙂✌️👌👌🙏🙏

Im pretty sure in the excellent source material the Ben Mears character's dad dies and his mom has a kinda nervous breakdown and ships young Ben of to live with his aunt Cynthia in Jerusalem's Lot, Maine, where he remains till aged 11, when he moves away from the town.Maybe im mistaken but im pretty sure i have this partly right. I have no recollection of Ben's parents getting killed by any drunk driver. His wife, Miranda, is killed in an automobile accident, involving Ben's motorcycle and a van or truck, i think. This is also mentioned in the wonderful source material. Maybe someone will correct me if im wrong? 🤔

Never mind the demise of Barlow! What about the demise of poor Father Callahan? I was kinda ok with how Barlow bowed out, even though I'd have preferred him to be located and staked at Eva Millers boarding house, as in the source material and the 2OO4 Mikael Solomon version, or in the Marsten House, as in the classic Tobe Hooper version. But in this movie Father Callahan's demise was over far too quickly for me(no Dark Tower for him!). I'd like to have seen Barlow force the fallen priest to drink of his own blood, as in the source material and Mikael Solomon version. In the source material, Callahan, tainted by the king vampires blood, is denied access to his own church, and blows town on a bus. In Hooper's version, Barlow just plucks Callahan's cross from his hand, and the camera cuts away. 🙂✌️

I agree on all those points from the source material. Father Callahan was not given a proper send off. He’s part of the problem the 3 of us agreed on. That the back half of the movie sped things up too quickly. Thanks for supporting the channel! -Bob

I'd love to have seen the inclusion of the Dud Rogers character in the new movie , and his scene with kurt Barlow in the Jerusalem's Lot dump. And all the stuff from the source material about him lusting after Larry Crockett's daughter, Ruthie. And her teasing him and rejecting him and even mocking him. This is all in the source material and some of it included in Mikael Solomon's 2OO4 version, which i quite like. Alot. I'd also have loved to have seen in the new one the scene were Charlie Rhodes hears the ' Honking ' of his school buses horn and goes to investigate snd is attacked by Vampire kids on his own school bus. This scene, i feel, was pretty well executed in the Mikael Solomon version, were Charlie Rhodes is played by Andy Anderson. And this scene is in the souce material. We do get a quick qlimps at Charlie's school bus in the new movie, in the scene at the elementary school, when Mark Petrie deals with school bully, Richie Boddin.

I think that was the major complaint we had with this new adaptation. That the story was rushed and compressed to the point that the pacing was affected. Again, having 3+ hours helps the original movie. We all agreed that the mood and vibe was right on though. Still a fun spooky season watch. Thanks for supporting the channel! Cheers! -Bob
