I think this movie is one of the forgotten greats of its time. It was critically praised and a lot of normal viewers loved it but few really talk about this movie.
This movie is a masterpiece. Every scene, dialogue, gesture, detail, movement, is poetry. I seen it so many times and I can't get enough. The ending is so powerful. I think people are so used to seeing movies have a resolve or some type of closer, but here Collateral doesn't do that. It ends as though it was one of million of stories happening in L.A. The ending for me was real in that sometimes in life there is no closer, no happy ending or sad ending, just that sometimes like Max and Annie you live to see another day, while people like Vincent and the people he killed don't.
It is a very good film but it is a little too contrived to be a masterpiece in my opinion. Both leads are excellent but you never quite forget that it is Tom Cruise playing a hitman. The connection between Max and Annie is a little silly as it is unlikely that he would have picked up two passengers who were linked to Felix in a city as big as LA. Also, it didn't make sense that those witnesses were not in federal protection until after the trial. Still, Mann was at the top of his game and the action sequences are superb.
@@Saintinthecity-wh9nl For me I COMPLETELY forgot that it was Cruise playing Vincent because he INHABITED the character so completely even managing to infuse a certain ironic, dark humor and a connection with Fox’s character in a character who could otherwise have been a one dimensional villain. While I agree that unfortunately he often “does Cruise” in some of his films, this was in my opinion an absolute standout exception that showcased the full range of Cruise’s talents. Sadly he’s learned the limits of what his audience expects from him, and too often accepts roles that don’t afford him the opportunity to truly shine, only burnish his “brand”.
I first saw this movie when I was 14, when this was over I thought that I had just saw one of the greatest thrillers of all time. It's sad that no one talks about this film as one of the best movies of that decade. Great film.
Whenever I hear music like this,I find myself asking "who are these men that are able to turn you inside out with their music this way, how is it that they're so talented? One thing I'm convinced of, they are special, they are blessed!!
One of my favourite if not straight up Favourite performances of Tom Cruise. He steped into a character somewhat different than his usuals. Watched this last night for the first time in about 14 years....wow. FOURTEEN freaking years! The film easily holds up.
the musical interpretation of a soul being stripped of all its layers and opening its eyes to the nirvana of the eternal moment, realising that there is nothing else that has ever been or will be
*spoiler* The ending is such a powerful one, and Vincent's last say was about the man who died on a subway train in LA only to be discovered dead six hours after he died, and then Annie and Max runs out on the street, clearly confused, and the train continues on like nothing happened.
This movie change my life forever, Words can't describe how much i love this Masterpiece , in my opinion best Tom Cruise role ever made.. also my favorite movie of all time !!
I saw the film once, when I was 13 I think, and I had already noticed how interesting it was. I totally agree with the fact that it is the most underrated film of the decade !!! Whereas it's fabulous...
This music is simply chilling. Gives me Goosebumps every time I hear it. Cheers uploader. I'd buy the Collateral Soundtrack if this one was in it, but apparently it isn't.
No, it isn't bad. You get to know Vincent throughout the film, and like many other characters you loved in movies, you grow attached to him. He's a killer, but you catch glimpses of humanity in him. For me myself? I always feel a bit melancholy at the ending but when it comes down to it, Vincent is a professional assassin. What makes him less sympathetic is that he was going to kill Max by the end of the night, whether Max found out about Vincent's job or not. Remember the money he offered to keep Max on as his driver? Can't kill a cab driver with every target you take down. Max could watch the news the next day and realize the connection between the killings and the places he dropped Vincent off at. No witnesses, period.
No Your Right Player... I Too Seen The Movie In Italian Language Is Also One Of My Favorites So Far . The Ending Scene Of Course Its Sad Tho . Depends After How People See It . You Could See It The Way He Speaks The Way He Reacts . He Don t Wanna Give UP That Easily Even That @ Some Point He Is Human As AnyOne Else And That Is Something Unexchangeable For Anynone.
It happened with me also... I pitied and sympathized for Vincent...Even Max, for a fraction of second, feels bad for Vincent's death... It's like good has no value if evil isn't there?!
KOSTA, You are quite right. Yet, Mann literally transformed Tom Cruise into someone completely different. In fact...I don't think any other actor would have done a better job. Cruise looked like an Ex-Special Forces "Mechanic" or "Contractor". He was perfect here. But then again...Michael Mann's attention to detail is awesome!
There is something about this song.............i don't know what but it is.......is amazing enough .I mean.Fuck man. This and Marooned by Pink Floyd are like my favourite songs. And i have listen A LOT in my life time.Just great
I think many people have been saying this for a long time...including me I must say :D I think the reason it is under-rated is because it broke the normal Hollywood mould...the whole naive 'everything ends up ok' approach, rather than this more sinister ending. Which I prefer so much. Though its kind of ironic then Tom Cruise starred in it.
Love this movie to death and love the soundtrack! But it always bothered me that the guitar rhythm of this track near the end is so out of harmony and sync with the orchestral strings. Otherwise it’s pure perfection!
I think this movie is one of the forgotten greats of its time. It was critically praised and a lot of normal viewers loved it but few really talk about this movie.
Same goes with 'Heat', another Michael Mann film.
Bro, everyone talks about Heat. It may be the lone movie where the gunfights are talked about even more than the famous De Niro/Pacino diner scene.
Cause it has a black protagonist
At least they talk about Denzel Washington movies but that's it
Completely agree. It gets overlooked for whatever reason.
Collateral will remain forever in my top ten films of all time.
I do
Do you still think the same even though almost 13 years have passed?

Yes! And thank you for the suspension. 😅

It's 2019. And...
Still amazing 😃
One of the best films ever made. Michael Mann is a genius filmmaker.
2023 still amazing.
2025 STILL AMAZING

Guy in LA gets on the train and dies...............think anyone will notice?
Amazing line for the end...
"A guy gets on the MTA here in L.A and dies. Think anybody will notice?"
I know. This movie is a masterpiece. Then is even coyotes.

Epic..and deep.. I remember this at the ending..when tom cruise was left on the train
The end is epic! I agree
Beautiful movie and beautiful acting and beautiful soundtrack.
One of the most underrated movies ever made. Deserves more than a 7.5 on imdb.
Tell me about it, bro. Michael Mann's best film of all time. No disrespect to Heat but Jamie Foxx and Tom Cruise are freaking Cinema Gold!!
True, it should have 8.0. But 7.5 is also very, very good. The most movies are under 7.0 on imdb.
the musical interpretation of a soul being stripped of all its layers and opening its eyes to the nirvana of the eternal moment, realising that there is nothing else that has ever been or will be
One of the most powerful movie ever seen.Still after all this yrs. I could watch it again with pleasure.

gives me goosebumps thinking about that ending scene
I gotta say...like someone said before me..."The most underrated film of the decade"!
I can't possibly put into words the brilliance of this film. If ever the word 'masterpiece' was truly lived up to.
This movie change my life forever, Words can't describe how much i love this Masterpiece , in my opinion best Tom Cruise role ever made.. also my favorite movie of all time !!

what a movie, I'm out of words, truly masterpiece, I wish there were more such unique film makers like Michael Mann
Hey Max a Guy gets on the MTA here in L.A and dies.
Think anybody will notice?
one of the best lines ive ever heard in a movie
this music very amizing...vincent 💜

It’s bittersweet - poetic Justice ✨

Michael Mann
Bayron91bho great director 👍
How can I get a CD with this soundtrack. Love the music and the movie was great!!
Very good movie.
People these are bubble gum and pop corn. They only want to see sex and crap.
Whenever a good movie with solid story they ignore it.
2021 Anyone here ?😉
anyway that we can download this? brilliant!
Love this movie to death and love the soundtrack! But it always bothered me that the guitar rhythm of this track near the end is so out of harmony and sync with the orchestral strings. Otherwise it’s pure perfection!
It's slipped enough that it could have been intentional.
Did you mix "Car Crash" from the soundtrack album with the film version of Requiem that plays at the end?
Michael The Mann
Truly. 😁

2020?
Vincent's skeleton stills on L.A.'s MTA until today without nobody notice
really? I think that would've been a more realistic ending
my favorite movie of all time
