I felt depressed this morning. What I am doing is, accept it, stop what I am doing, lay down on my back, put my hand on my stomach, where the feeling lives, close my eyes and give my body time and presence. Just be there for your feeling as if it was your best friend and let it express itself. After 10 to 30 minutes my body feels well again.
Side effect is, you are not afraid of this feeling any longer and your love for yourself increases.

Cool! Independently this is what I realized too! It works the way, that nobody would stay happy forever, because he allows himself to be happy, that's why it disappears. The same works with bad feelings.

Since recognising and becoming aware of my pain body, I can feel how it indulges, even loves, to wallow in self-pity and negativity -- truly like being in the grip of addiction!. And now, instead of becoming completely swallowed up by it, I can be aware of its presence and say to myself: I don't need to believe these thoughts, I'm just in a negative state right now. It'll pass.

One of my earliest memories is when my dad was trying to cheer me up, when I was 3 or 4. I was crying and he was making silly faces, and I couldn't help but start to laugh, and I angrily exclaimed "stop it! I'm happy being sad!"
Which he of course thought was hilarious, but I'm amazed how relevant that insight has been into my adult life.

My approach is to love the emotions that arise and allow them to play themselves out. Pushing them down only makes them pop back, but listening to them, accepting them, giving them permission to stay, helps them to dissolve. The emotions are telling us what is sitting in our subconscious mind - something that was programmed into us from the outside. They are connected to the beliefs we have about ourselves.
Am I perfect at this? Far from it. but when I do sit with them, they heal.

That happens with me, too, on some of his teachings... I'll find myself thinking, well that part is too far out there, or doesn't apply to me...but them the light bulb may come on after hearing it again. I think that's normal...we spent a lifetime of some bad or harmful thinking patterns, so it's a journey to correct some of these patterns...it takes practice and patience with ourselves. I have gotten so much better as catching myself and stopping...when I find myself thinking up these detailed thoughts of how I will handle and react to some future possible event that has not happened and most likely won't. Over analyzing things that haven't happened...then stressing over the possible reactions. Even if what I'm worried about Actually happens, it's not as bad as the worrying about that thing! Nuts, right? :)

These words are a masterpiece. I ve been struggling with depression for 8 years now and this is the most accurate way to explain the way my mind works. I just want to say thst it is extremely difficult to practice awareness the moment you are in the black cave of your mind. No one can save you then. Maybe we can practicing the moments we are not that deep and then expand our thinking. Eckhart, I wish you find in your life all the enlightenment you are spreading. 🌼🌼🌼

Liza, Reduce negative thoughts with a simple practice. Your breath and mind [brain] are closely related causing stress-anxiety. For a better life sit on a chair, back straight, eyes closed and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight your thoughts. Slowly the mind will relax. No deep breathing needed. Do the practice without any expectations. Change happens by itself. Day or night, when taking a walk, sitting in a park, when reading, before sleep etc sit or lie down and observe your breath. Like me, make this a lifetime daily habit to have a good life. Avoid constipation as it affects the mind instantly. Best wishes Shyaaam Sir. -Counsellor.

@@shyaaammeneen63 Thank you so much for your kind answer. You are right, I should start practising with my breath. The funny is that I ve been struggling with constipation so many months! I don't go to the toilet for days and my belly (stomach? lower intensine?) is extremely bloated; I look like a pregnant women and doctors -I have visited many- can't help me. I ve tried everything (probiotics, food supplements), I am really frustrated!

@@lizamysiri4109 That is dangerous. Time to wake up. Eat less at night, have plenty of water, more of veg and fruits, reduce non-veg, short walks and take laxatives under medical guidance. Develop your mental muscles. Since many years I have made it a habit to observe my breath sensations even during my normal activities and I am feeling relaxed and healthy. Anywhere-anytime it can be done. The best part is nobody comes to now that you are doing the breath observing practice as there is no deep breathing or sound. Make a goal of 3-4 months when you are going to change your life and be more relaxed and healthy. That includes avoiding constipation and stop watching negative negative social media. Read my msg and do the practice regularly. Best wishes. Shyaaam Sir-Counsellor.

Yesterday I just bursted into tears! That negative voice started to paint all the sh*t that went wrong and how behind I am. But in that moment, I stopped and breathed, I said are you done now? Now let me speak. Yes, my biz is staring zeros in the bank, but wealth comes in different ways when we become conscious of it. I am wealthy to have given birth to 8 kids, at age of 33 that’s an accomplishment! And despite their hardship to raise them right, I’ve pursued to build something to make a difference to all of humanity. That’s an accomplishment! The numbers are zeros but with God the reward is massive! Man that was the most empowering thing I have ever said to my self in dacades 😭🙏❤️ And to all of you I pray for your healing!

What creates the most sadness and pain inside of me is the current suffering and condition of this world. The animals suffering in slaughter houses and other places, the human beings suffering from poverty and their own ego made suffering. The planet, nature suffering from abuse. I do my best not to dwell on these things, I am empathic. I do take actions to elevate the suffering of other beings and this helps me greatly. I want happiness for all life not just myself. Then, additional negative thoughts come up. For me the only way to get out of that situation is, stop doing and take the time, trying to 'enjoy' that feeling. Trying to get the connection back to the feeling, trying to come back to me as a feeling individual. If I succeed, I get some kind of freedom which hard to describe.

@@moonhunter9993 Reduce negative thoughts with a simple practice. When you are depressed, you simply are, the key word being "are'. I've noticed that years of it weren't really associated with my thoughts, although they existed, but rather to simply my body/self response to this cruel world. Everything makes me sad and low, and I can't stand the fact that I'm simply crawling in my skin to simply exist. I just want to feel some peace of mind but also and mostly of body.

    • @teresamarieinbarrera6267
      @teresamarieinbarrera6267 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I understand you when you say it feels that it doesn't feel like the depression is related to thoughts. I think after a while the thoughts solidify into attitudes and beliefs and it's hard to pinpoint when the sense of depression starts and what thought or attitude triggered it. But if you can isolate the thought or belief, it's almost always a dysfunctional one. David Burns and Byron Katie tell you to question your thoughts. Are you trying to predict the future, using black and white thinking, exaggerating and dramatizing the inevitable nuisances of life, ignoring all the good things? It's never a good idea to compare yourself with others, but there are probably thousands who would give anything to be in your circumstances. Your brain, eyes and hands were coordinated enough to compose a comprehensible comment and you're rich enough to have access to a device on which to send it. Believe me, l know you think/feel that you are ALWAYS unhappy, but l bet you could come up with a few moments of happy memories in your life if you really tried.
I am over 70 and l have struggled with depression my whole life (there l go exaggerating again! I've had lots of happy times in my life.)
but l just keep trying. Meds and therapy haven't really worked, nutrition and exercise aren't a cure either. I think it's just a mental, emotional and spiritual challenge we have to confront daily. But l feel like it is getting better, just a lot slower than l'd like. Many of these suggestions such as mindfulness meditation do improve things. Don't give up, tomorrow might be THE day that you meet someone or hear a word or see something that turns your whole life around! But in the meantime, try to enjoy the little things in the present moment: the breath you're taking without some machine, the education that enabled you to read this, your 5 senses, even if limited in some ways. I am saying these things to remind myself, not just to encourage you. Let's keep trying to get control of our thoughts, focusing them on fresh, positive things, not just glomming onto the stale, negative, lifeless ones. Keep looking...you will find your answer. You are loved, fellow human💞.

Here are my 10 extra tips to INCREASE your daily manifestations that I’ve learned over the years..👇🏾
    1. Practice gratitude every morning. When you wake up, list everything that you are grateful for and feel that gratitude in your core. Feel free to write things down in a journal so it is easy for you to remember.
    2. Replace your negative thoughts with positive ones. Every time you feel a negative thought coming on, make a positive spin on it right away.
    3. Take ownership for things that happen in your life. It's easy to blame others however you will feel much better when you realize that most issues stem from us.
    4. ALWAYS believe that good things are about to happen. By being open to new possibilities you are inviting abundance into your life.
    5. Remember that like attracts like so you get back whatever you put out, whether it is good or bad. So do good AND received good.
    6. Meditate for five minutes a day. During this time focus on how you want your life to be; but place your focus on how you feel AND feel that feeling as if you have already accomplished those goals.
    7. Step outside of your comfort zone. Stop playing it safe and make that decision to finally go for your dreams.
    8. Focus on activities that make you feel truly happy. When you are truly happy you have the best vibrational frequency to manifest your desires.
    9. Avoid the naysayers and surround yourself with people who only lift you higher. Downers will be downers, don't let them drag you into their misery.
    10. Don't be afraid to dream and know that you are always supported by the universe.
    Hope this helps!
    - Your Friendly Neighborhood Coach
