I'm sick of people saying Jess was the only intellectual boyfriend. Logan graduated from YALE, he had a stable job, he worked on the paper with Rory. We saw him read books, the newspaper, etc. What reference did Rory make that made Logan scratch his head? He was equally as intelligent as Rory, and perhaps more so than Jess (with his high school diploma and college degree). Do explain how Jess was more intelligent.
sherulzz i think, in my opinion, that Logan is more knowledgable than Jess, due to his further education. But Jess overall is more intelligent than Logan because even though he didn’t have a great education due to his choices, he was still very intelligent. if that makes sense ahaha
Jess was a self starter. Logan was told who he was and given no other choices. More intelligent? Both were intellectual. Logan and his Yale education maybe gave him an edge, but Jess with no college learned on his own. It is this that makes him seem more intelligent.
Logan went to Yale and is where he is because of his family and his money. The show is a great representation of privilege. I do agree that he's also intellectual though. I'm only on season 5/6 so haven't gotten far enough to see their relationship evolve.

So... I hate how everyone says that Jess is the perfect boyfriend for Rory. I’m not saying that he wasn’t a good boyfriend, but he wasn’t better than Logan. Logan was just as smart as Rory, and he would never up and leave her, just to show up out of the blue. Jess on the other hand had no problem leaving her, not returning her phone calls, and not attending her graduation. Dean was most of the time clingy, and let’s not forget how he broke up with her 3 times, and yet she got back together with him! As you can see, Logan was the best choice.
Lucy Loo yeah but you can see that Rory loves both Logan and Jess though. Jess came back for Rory twice to somehow try to re kindle their relationship. And with Jess’ character development they might be endgame. Like how Jess inspired Rory to graduate from Yale or when he told Rory to write a book about her life [which in the last scene of Rory and Jess together, Rory was fixated on it that she wrote 10 pages i think ]. You could also see that Jess still has feelings for Rory in the last scene when he looks at her before leaving. But thats my opinion haha

Yes, I totally agree. I am really sad how it ended but they will always care for each other and if there's a revival 2, I think and I will pretend anyway that they ended up together and that the baby is logan's, Hes the best!
I agree I personally don’t even think Jess and Rory were to get her long at all. But Logan was there from like season 4 or 5 till the rest of the show and always there for her
Dean was the "safe" boyfriend, the dependable one, the representation of that small town rory's used to. Jess was that guy phase every girl goes through: the smart and misunderstood bad boy who teen girls dream about being the one to change them. Jess had a good character development over the series but his timing was really always off when it comes to rory. I was glad he left to fix himself first. Logan, i think, really is the best option for rory. Rory just outgrew her life in stars hollow. She was set for bigger things, although she made really bad choices along the way. But honestly, the things that happened were all consistent to her character. The smart kid who was always consistently top the class who was not used to failure that she took it very hard when logan's father said she just didnt have "it". I dont think rory became "stupider" as the series progressed. The show just showed life and the reality of things
Yes! This is exactly what I think! Rory never had what it takes, Logan’s dad was right about her. She had her skills, and talents, and was hardworking enough to achieve great things. She had such self control I can only be jealous. But she was never suited for journalism. Her field was something that had to do with other people, assisting, human resources, organizing, she would make an excellent event planner, she was a terrific writer. But not a journalist! She was never bold or daring or adventurous enough for that! And my wonderful Logan - he WAS the only person with whom she had at least a chance to change. He pushed her in the right direction for her to get closer to achieving her dreams, but she never learnt to do that on her own, unfortunately. I get why she refused to marry him - it wasn’t the thing she had been working and hoping for, she wasn’t ready to sacrifice that (and that’s where Logan loved her more, than she ever loved him). But in the aftermath - declining his proposal proved to be the worst of all Rory’s bad decisions. They would be happy together, they would make each other better in subtle, but really important ways. Sadly, we never got to see that, life sucks sometimes. And I love Logan for all his was, and I love Rory despite all she was, and I’m just disappointed their ending wasn’t a happy one.
I'm glad someone agrees. People always say Rory had a downfall and her morality took a dive as the show goes on. I disagree, Rory has always been this way. I actually like that the show didn't make Rory turn out to be perfect and as planned. It makes the show more realistic and Rory's character more relatable.

I hated Dean he was too clingy and jealous. I loved Tristan in season 1, too bad he left. I honestly thought Jess was her guy, even after everything he put Rory through. I believe he truly loved her, but he hurt her too much. His timing was always off. Logan was the perfect guy. Yes he made mistakes but he loved and cared for Rory so much. I loved them together so much! I hated how it ended for them. That was so not Logan wanting all or nothing! And Rory going on a tour/campaign? So out of character for both of them! Originally Tristan was going to be Rory's long term boyfriend in the show but Chad picked up the role of Lucas on one tree hill so left the show. That's when they wrote the role of Jess instead

In that season they are kinda together but he is together with someone else and Rory now that bud they are together there😛 they ended there relationship in season 8 pretty god, they wanted to be together but he was gonna get married soon so they had a nice last night and said godbye🥺
ok so i know that everyone thinks that jess is the perfect boyfriend for Rory and yes I used to think that same thing to except did u all forget how he first left her and moved to California, not going to her graduation, not taking her to prom and shortly before all this happened he tried to pressure her to do something she wasn't ready to do yet. On the other side I think that Logan is perfect for her because yes even though just like jess he has messed up, Logan doesn't run away from the problems (usually) he goes right to Rory and they talk it out, he will always be there for her and no matter how rich and spoiled people say he is, he is not like that at all and would die for Rory. He bought her a toy rocket, he had her move in, he bought her a coffee cart, he tried to do everything he could and was never pushy to her at all, very respectful. So overall, between Jess, Dean and Logan, (Dean and Rory were just never meant to be for the long term), I think that Logan is her soul mate and that she was stupid to let him go because he truly changed a lot to be with her and so did she.
Yes, Jess hurt her by leaving her and I do not agree with what he did. But think about the character development Jess has had since the beginning of the series up until the end. He got his life together. He became a writer. He became a better person because of Rory. She inspired him to be better. He eventually came back and tried to fight for her. He told her that even though she couldn't depend on him before, she could depend on him now. And even after she made it clear she didn't want to be with him, he still went back later to see her and thank her personally for helping him get his life on track. That's what makes a good couple in my opinion, when two people can inspire each other and change each other and support each other no matter what. And Rory always has believed and supported him, and for that he became a better person.

Something Jess knew but he blew it off any way. That last scene was not the Logan Huntzberger we've seen over the last 3 seasons. They needed a reason to break Logan and Rory up... And they used that marry me or we are done thing... I think they planned on Rory and Logan getting back together if they got another season. Because they could have just broken them up when Logan went to Vegas and started partying again. But they had him clean up his act and apologize.
I think Logan was the one for Rory! Dean got too clingy, Jess was alright, I would have loved to of seen more of her and Marty but Logan was definitely the best mix of all of the above and he was really sweet
Rory was lucky with boyfriends. They were good people and they loved her. Dean never hurt her, he let her hurt him, but he´s a bit clingy, Jess didn´t have his shit together until later, he made a lot of mistakes and hurt Rory the most and Logan needed to grew up, his biggest mistake was that he was pushing her into the marriage (everyone was out of character in Season 7), otherwise, he was perfect.
+Angeee017 I liked Dean and Jess. But from the moment he was introduced on the show, Logan just came across as selfish. Even though he loved Rory, it just seemed like most of their relationship revolved around him and his issues.

Yeah, nobody's perfect, but he shouldn't have expected her to forgive him so easily. He felt so entitled to immediate forgiveness and basically pressured her to come back to him. It was ridiculous to jump into bed with those other girls so soon after the fight. It may have been meaningless to him, but to her it's like, "how much did you really respect me being in your life if you could be so easily physically intimate with other girls so quickly without doing some deeper thinking about the situation." He also didn't apologize to her for being an ass about her and Jess on top of sleeping around. I dunno, I still say he was pretty dumb about it. But Rory didn't really have a clean slate when it came to sleeping with people she shouldn't have slept with (Dean). On a side note, Logan was also a jerk for being the one to break up Lucy and Marty because of his petty jealousy. Of course, Marty sucked because of his lying, and Logan was doing Lucy a bit of a service, but still.
I'm not saying that Logan wasn't privileged. I'm addressing people who think Jess was the only smart boyfriend of Rory's .That's untrue, and we know from what we've seen and been told of Logan that he was just as smart. He was well-read, and well-acquainted with pop culture. Yes, Jess comes from a different background and he didn't have the same opportunities. That doesn't counteract any of Logan's qualities. Frankly, Jess CHOSE his path in life. He chose to skip school and not graduate.
I like the fact that Rory said no to him. Not that I didn't like Logan, I did. but it gave their story and characters more realness. Not everyone says yes when asked for marriage. She wasn't ready and he was. Two different paths.
When i finished Gilmore Girls for the first time, i was like Team Dean. But now that i'm watching the whole show for a second time, i'm team Logan. I have no idea how to explain. Maybe i started annoyingly notice Dean's flaws like how he got mad so fast. Logan is like a combination of a rebellious boy and a gentleman. I do agree it bothered me as well how in the finale he didn't want to carry on with Rory ONLY BECAUSE IT WAS TOO EARLY FOR HER TO GET MARRIED. It was INSANE. I also kinda liked Tristan. I wish he would've stuck around for a little bit longer and that him and Rory would've had something more but only a short kind of relationship because it kind of fits for him not to be around for so long and i can't even imagine him being a huge part of Rory's life throughout many seasons. It kind of feels wrong even thinking about it but he should've been around a little bit longer though. Tristan was an interesting character.
I just re-watched past three seasons just for him. I loved him as Logan and the relationship of Rory and Logan. I would have loved the ending of the show even more if Rory would have married him and he could have gone with her to the Inn the meet Christiane Amanpour and they could've moved to California and lived happily ever after.
I get it that the writers want to show how independent & all grown up has Rory become but whoever wrote the last episode about how Logan given rory an ultimatum is so not like his character in the show! It so kinda silly ending between them
Season 7 was not Amy Sherman - Paledino . That's why the out of character writing. Logan didn't like ultimatums. He was given one by Rory, but he did submit.

Although I think the way they ended sucked. Logan shouldn't have given Rory the all or nothing ultimatum, and Rory shouldn't have broken it off with him.
not everyone remembering tristan and saying he was a good match for rory when there was NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING that Rory felt for him. Overrall he was quite annoying. The actor was insanely handsome and that is why everyone is suddenly on Team Tristan, when in reality, there exists no possibility of a 'Team Tristan'
I have heard they (the season 7 writers) ended their relationship the way they did solely because of the fact that the series was cut...had it not been cut it's likely the outcome would've been different. Strangely, I like the changes Logan made over time in himself. At first I couldn't stand him, then, I came to like him...

I was always thrilled that she said no to Logan, I HATE shows that always make people say yes to marriage proposals. It would have been so unlike Rory's character. However, I don't think Logan would have set that ultimatum. On the other hand him being out of character there allowed Rory to end the show single, and I think that was really important. Lots of young women can benefit by knowing that they can be single and happy.

Then they'll meet again and start all over because they are more mature and prepared to settle down. It was a cliff hanger so we'll never know but I choose to be positive about this possibility.

I hated dean every time he had a fight with Rory his anger issues came out and it seemed as if he was so angry that I was honestly scared he would do something extreme to hurt her. he was clingy and always tried to control her he never wanted her to be her best possible self. jess was honestly amazing he was smart and understood Rory but he was never really ready, once he got Rory to fall for him he didn't understand what he really got himself into. He had no problem leaving when he got angry and no problem not returning any of her calls. He was really moody and Rory needed someone she can rely on for basic things and he just wasn't that person. Logan is perfect, he's just as smart for Rory he would do anything for her, he would never leave her, never ditch her, and always respected her decisions. he wanted Rory to be herself and didn't judge her and she could rely on him at any given time.

We can learn from this show. In real life do we want to be with someone who makes us better or someone who brings us down. No one obviously is perfect but it's pretty clear that Jess was self absorbed, weak and angry. Logan was outward, giving, and all about growth, expanding. Yes he did have an alcohol problem. But Logan was polite and had integrity towards others despite his issues. Jess was angry, he was a time bomb about to explode. I wouldn't want a child from him; he was miserable. Logan always "tried" to take the high road. But it is pretend. Although I've met guys just like them. 🌷
ngl rory should’ve accepted his proposal. He’s the most sensible option for her plus imo he’s the best guy after jess (but since jess’s timing was bad so logan would’ve been first choice)

Of course not, you´re right. I think it´s just a big plus. Personally, I liked Jess right from the beginning, but I never thought he´s THE guy until he came back and showed Rory how much she changed in a bad way. I love jess but when you think about its kinda like the stefan vs damon situation, it was obvious that damon was super impulsive and just toxic yet people were blinded by other factors. Although jess did become a better person
@zebraxxmusic Agreed. Rory'd played it safe and missed out on dating Tristan (bad timing, Chad getting his own show like that) so Logan was her second chance at the "refined bad boy". Jess was too much like her (though I think he was the best fit) and Christopher for them to have lasted. In the end, the underlying moral stands - the best kind of Gilmore Girl is the single kind.

I’m on Team Rory Can Do Better. I thought Marty (Naked Guy from freshman year at Yale) might become a good relationship for her, but it didn’t happen. Though since A Year In The Life was released, I’m starting to think maybe Jess has grown up.
@myheadhurtsagain I've never watched supernatural so i don't get the reference :/ but this is true that he was a big part of her life, but in a way he was the training wheels of boyfriends. Very safe, and to be honest not only was he boring life wise but intellectually he wasn't the most stimulating person either. I'm glad Rory ended up single cause really could you see her with any of them in the LONG term?

I'm glad someone agrees. People always say Rory had a downfall and her morality took a dive as the show goes on. I disagree, Rory has always been this way. I actually like that the show didn't make Rory turn out to be perfect and as planned. It makes the show more realistic and Rory's character more relatable.

I hated Dean he was too clingy and jealous. I loved Tristan in season 1, too bad he left. I honestly thought Jess was her guy, even after everything he put Rory through. I believe he truly loved her, but he hurt her too much. His timing was always off. Logan was the perfect guy. Yes he made mistakes but he loved and cared for Rory so much. I loved them together so much! I hated how it ended for them. That was so not Logan wanting all or nothing! And Rory going on a tour/campaign? So out of character for both of them! I wish they'd make a movie or something!

ok so i know that everyone thinks that jess is the perfect boyfriend for Rory and yes I used to think that same thing to except did u all forget how he first left her and moved to California, not going to her graduation, not taking her to prom and shortly before all this happened he tried to pressure her to do something she wasn't ready to do yet. On the other side I think that Logan is perfect for her because yes even though just like jess he has messed up, Logan doesn't run away from the problems (usually) he goes right to Rory and they talk it out, he will always be there for her and no matter how rich and spoiled people say he is, he is not like that at all and would die for Rory. He bought her a toy rocket, he had her move in, he bought her a coffee cart, he tried to do everything he could and was never pushy to her at all, very respectful. So overall, between Jess, Dean and Logan, (Dean and Rory were just never meant to be for the long term), I think that Logan is her soul mate and that she was stupid to let him go because he truly changed a lot to be with her and so did she.
Yes, Jess hurt her by leaving her and I do not agree with what he did. But think about the character development Jess has had since the beginning of the series up until the end. He got his life together. He became a writer. He became a better person because of Rory. She inspired him to be better. He eventually came back and tried to fight for her. He told her that even though she couldn't depend on him before, she could depend on him now. And even after she made it clear she didn't want to be with him, he still went back later to see her and thank her personally for helping him get his life on track. That's what makes a good couple in my opinion, when two people can inspire each other and change each other and support each other no matter what. And Rory always has believed and supported him, and for that he became a better person.

Something Jess knew but he blew it off any way. That last scene was not the Logan Huntzberger we've seen over the last 3 seasons. They needed a reason to break Logan and Rory up... And they used that marry me or we are done thing... I think they planned on Rory and Logan getting back together if they got another season. Because they could have just broken them up when Logan went to Vegas and started partying again. But they had him clean up his act and apologize.

Rory was lucky with boyfriends. They were good people and they loved her. Dean never hurt her, he let her hurt him, but he´s a bit clingy, Jess didn´t have his shit together until later, he made a lot of mistakes and hurt Rory the most and Logan needed to grew up, his biggest mistake was that he was pushing her into the marriage (everyone was out of character in Season 7), otherwise, he was perfect.

Yeah, nobody's perfect, but he shouldn't have expected her to forgive him so easily. He felt so entitled to immediate forgiveness and basically pressured her to come back to him. It was ridiculous to jump into bed with those other girls so soon after the fight. It may have been meaningless to him, but to her it's like, "how much did you really respect me being in your life if you could be so easily physically intimate with other girls so quickly without doing some deeper thinking about the situation." He also didn't apologize to her for being an ass about her and Jess on top of sleeping around. I dunno, I still say he was pretty dumb about it. But Rory didn't really have a clean slate when it came to sleeping with people she shouldn't have slept with (Dean). On a side note, Logan was also a jerk for being the one to break up Lucy and Marty because of his petty jealousy. Of course, Marty sucked because of his lying, and Logan was doing Lucy a bit of a service, but still.
I'm not saying that Logan wasn't privileged. I'm addressing people who think Jess was the only smart boyfriend of Rory's .That's untrue, and we know from what we've seen and been told of Logan that he was just as smart. He was well-read, and well-acquainted with pop culture.
Yes, Jess comes from a different background and he didn't have the same opportunities. That doesn't counteract any of Logan's qualities.

I like the fact that Rory said no to him. Not that I didn't like Logan, I did. but it gave their story and characters more realness. Not everyone says yes when asked for marriage. She wasn't ready and he was. Two different paths.
When i finished Gilmore Girls for the first time, i was like Team Dean. But now that i'm watching the whole show for a second time, i'm team Logan. I have no idea how to explain. Maybe i started annoyingly notice Dean's flaws like how he got mad so fast. Logan is like a combination of a rebellious boy and a gentleman. I do agree it bothered me as well how in the finale he didn't want to carry on with Rory ONLY BECAUSE IT WAS TOO EARLY FOR HER TO GET MARRIED. It was INSANE. I also kinda liked Tristan. I wish he would've stuck around for a little bit longer and that him and Rory would've had something more but only a short kind of relationship because it kind of fits for him not to be around for so long and i can't even imagine him being a huge part of Rory's life throughout many seasons. It kind of feels wrong even thinking about it but he should've been around a little bit longer though. Tristan was an interesting character.
I just re-watched past three seasons just for him. I loved him as Logan and the relationship of Rory and Logan.
I would have loved the ending of the show even more if Rory would have married him and he could have gone with her to the Inn the meet Christiane Amanpour and they could've moved to California and lived happily ever after.

Season 7 was not Amy Sherman - Paledino . That's why the out of character writing. Logan didn't like ultimatums. He was given one by Rory, but he did submit.

I was always thrilled that she said no to Logan, I HATE shows that always make people say yes to marriage proposals. It would have been so unlike Rory's character. However, I don't think Logan would have set that ultimatum. On the other hand him being out of character there allowed Rory to end the show single, and I think that was really important. Lots of young women can benefit by knowing that they can be single and happy.

Well they probably do end up together years later once Rory figures out her life and has more career experience. Then they'll meet again and start all over because they are more mature and prepared to settle down. It was a cliff hanger so we'll never know but I choose to be positive about this possibility.

I hated dean every time he had a fight with Rory his anger issues came out and it seemed as if he was so angry that I was honestly scared he would do something extreme to hurt her. he was clingy and always tried to control her he never wanted her to be her best possible self.
jess was honestly amazing he was smart and understood Rory but he was never really ready, once he got Rory to fall for him he didn't understand what he really got himself into. He had no problem leaving when he got angry and no problem not returning any of her calls. He was really moody and Rory needed someone she can rely on for basic things and he just wasn't that person.
Logan is perfect, he's just as smart for Rory he would do anything for her, he would never leave her, never ditch her, and always respected her decisions. he wanted Rory to be herself and didn't judge her and she could rely on him at any given time.

We can learn from this show. In real life do we want to be with someone who makes us better or someone who brings us down.
No one obviously is perfect but it's pretty clear that Jess was self absorbed, weak and angry. Logan was outward, giving, and all about growth, expanding. Yes he did have an alcohol problem. But Logan was polite and had integrity towards others despite his issues. Jess was angry, he was a time bomb about to explode. I wouldn't want a child from him; he was miserable. Logan always "tried" to take the high road. But it is pretend. Although I've met guys just like them. 🌷
ngl rory should’ve accepted his proposal. He’s the most sensible option for her plus imo he’s the best guy after jess (but since jess’s timing was bad so logan would’ve been first choice)

Its funny how people talk about Dean as the safe, dependable boyfriend as if it was something bad ….don’t we really all want that in life? It’s not like he had nothing in life except Rory….he had his jobs, he had his school he probably wouldn’t have left if he was still with Rory….he loved his family which is always a big plus too, I think he could make the perfect boyfriend and husband for life if Rory wasn’t always after the “bad boys” - the guys all girls complain about getting hurt by but at the same time we all evidentely want it ….and again, I don’t think Dean was boring or anything, they had fun together and could have had even more ….I had my fair share of ‘bad boys’ in my life and the pain is really not worth “the amount of love the person has for you” so no I really don’t agree that Jess or Logan (or Tristan omg) were better for her …they were exciting, but toxic

Of course not, you´re right. I think it´s just a big plus. Personally, I liked Jess right from the beginning, but I never thought he´s THE guy until he came back and showed Rory how much she changed in a bad way. Furthermore Jess was the only person who make Rory really UNDERSTAND that. That was the moment when I thought that Jess is the right guy for her, not Logan.

im team jess til the end. But i most say i really liked Logan in the original series, i hated it on the revival, the writers destroyed him.
I love jess but when you think about its kinda like the stefan vs damon situation, it was obvious that damon was super impulsive and just toxic yet people were blinded by other factors. Although jess did become a better person
@zebraxxmusic Agreed. Rory'd played it safe and missed out on dating Tristan (bad timing, Chad getting his own show like that) so Logan was her second chance at the "refined bad boy". Jess was too much like her (though I think he was the best fit) and Christopher for them to have lasted. In the end, the underlying moral stands - the best kind of Gilmore Girl is the single kind.

@myheadhurtsagain I've never watched supernatural so i don't get the reference :/ but this is true that he was a big part of her life, but in a way he was the training wheels of boyfriends. Very safe, and to be honest not only was he boring life wise but intellectually he wasn't the most stimulating person either. I'm glad Rory ended up single cause really could you see her with any of them in the LONG term?
