- W.C. Handy: "Saint Louis Blues"
Dave Brubeck Quartet
Live in Belgium, 1964
"My father says this is the best footage of the classic Dave Brubeck Quartet he has ever seen. Certainly it shows the Quartet as I remember it, remarkable for its consistency and group cohesion, yet just as remarkable for the unpredictable moments that made each performance of often-repeated material dramatically different. "
-Darius Brubeck
Dave Brubeck, piano
Paul Desmond, alto sax
Eugene Wright, bass
Joe Morello, drums

You are automatically 18% cooler by listening to this
Why 18?
Im 80 today. Saw them all at the Colston Hall Bristol UK my husband David and i were sat, with others, on the stage with them. You could feel the rythym coming through the soles of your feet. Absolutely full house. Fabulous evening.
Wow that must have been an amazing experience. Very jealous!
I'm envious. Just 4 yrs old then, but appreciate it now.
Joe Morello's drum is so powerful!!
Eugene is so into this and Joe is digging it...
How sublime Dave,Paul,Gene,Joe..never to be equaled and why should they, the group yet giggs on in multi-recording and Baby I have quiet a few. Had to replace a few due to many spins and worn tapes..and now this jazz master...
Listening to this makes my heart smile and my soul happy.....Wll done.....
It's so cool for this to be captured on film.
Just classic jazz combo; Desmond so melodic and lyrical...
Listening to Dave improvising is the nearest I've got to understanding the thought processes of another mind. You can hear the process of creation.
My all time favorite rendition of this classic ❤
Great version of this classic tune that I first learned to sing back when I was 10 or 11 years old.
Something in the lyrics that touched my Soul, like it was talking for me?
But I wasn't even a teenager yet but had all these deep and passionate feelings about very adult subjects.
My girlfriend said I have an Old Soul and that's why I've always been so drawn to this Jazz and Blues music over Bubble Gum and Light and Fluffy White middle of the road music!!
All I know is I've always felt it inside my body and it moves me to my core!!
Thankyou for sharing this recording.
✌❤🎶🙏
Man I can relate with you 100%. I’m almost 51 now but feel like I should have born during a different era because I too have an old soul and have always stood out from the rest of my contemporaries when it comes to my musical tastes. Here’s to you my fellow old soul! 🍻 And long live all the jaZz greats!

When I came on board!
This is THE video if you can only have one video to understand jazz.
Wright sings along the strings!
I do that sometimes when I play drums😅. It's just kind of instinctive to start scatting and singing along. It's also incredibly fun😂
Rock On
When the Instruments start playing themselves?!!
