- The Indus River forms the axis of Pakistan and drains the entire country. The river existed before the mountains formed, and it was able to maintain its source as mountains rose. It enters Pakistan flowing northwestwards into Baltistan, having already travelled nearly 1000 km from its source near Mount Kailash in Tibet, passing through Ladakh along the way. The Indus is 3200 km long making it 3rd longest river in Asia after Yangtze and Yellow rivers and largest River in Pakistan. Shyok River originates from Rimo Glacier passing through Shayok Village in Ladakh enters into Baltistan from Frano Village and meets the Mighty Indus River at Chundo Gole Village Baltistan. Indus river is also called as Singay Chu by Ladakhi and Balti people which means Lion River.
