That was fantastic. First time I watched a track themed full video. You young blokes are truly brave to operate those weapons at those speeds and endeavor to go even faster. WOW!!! Your commentary during the video put this one over the top, well explained, videography top-🎩. Learned a bunch. 👍🏼 😎 🇺🇸 🌎
Damn you're so fortunate having that nice weather, here in southern ontario Canada today high 4c. Can't wait bring the 2020 1290 SDR,put lithium battery, full exhaust. Now it sounds like beast. Very enjoyable, great seeing Simon.
That was a great watch, thanks Lyndon. Interesting to hear you say that you feel ' wooden ' on the street/track bike but are definitely more animated when off road. Maybe you should fit SM wheels to Basil bike and gear him to suit the track....I reckon he would shame many sports bikes and that you would feel pretty relaxed riding a very familiar bike...just a thought .
Great video lyndon, been contemplating taking my 1290 on the track, got the super adventurer, more of an enduro / adventurer rider really but that's inspiring me to take the big girl out, BTW l live just down the road from you so if you ever fancy a ride out, happy to show you some of the great roads we have around us, bikers paradise here.
@@lyndonposkitt yeah absolutely love mine, awesome engine, bought it for some touring just before the lockdown happened ,can't wait to get over to Morocco again once things open up again, lucky we have so many great rides here in Spain though.
Outstanding video on bike prep and your experience on the track. The SuperDuke certainly is a beast! Interested in how the bike as worked as a daily rider and if you have had any issues. Very apparent you have innate riding skills as you adapted to the track very nicely.
@@paul.vanhout57 my friends 2015 1290SDR has 97,000km's on it & still sounds tight....my 2018 790 duke has 65,000km's and i have now turned it into a track bike & bought the 890R for my daily bike. KTM's are bullet proof, the only people that think they are unreliable are the people that have not owned one.
Great video as always. Would be interested to see how your track times improved over the various sessions in those two days? Will be interesting to see which suspension setup you go with and whether you get one just for the track to change in and out. Sylvain Guintoli did that as one of his first mods to a standard gsxr and it makes a big difference to the overall feeling and confidence of the bike, plus the added benefit of reducing track times
Great video Lyndon! Makes me wanna take my Ducati out on the track again, actually might gonna do that soon! Had a likewise experience when living abroad in Qatar. Used to go out on Losail many times until I joined a 2 days raceschool course with some BSB riders as instructors! That changed my riding completely for the best!
Excellent track day video! Did you set up your sag front and rear for the track conditions? I have a 2018 which has no preload adjustment up front stock so I installed Ktech 25mm Carts which made a huge difference in front end feel with much better dampening as well. I also installed a Mupo 4way in the rear so you can increase your rear ride height which increases your swing arm angle, improves drive off the corners and keeps your front end planted, makes a huge difference as the swing arm is pretty flat on the V1 and V2 anyways.....ride safe and good day mate.👍
Such a great video, exciting, great itw and footage. Great to hear the explanation between track and dirt, must be a pretty good and scary level on track to feel the same control as dirt 😱💩
Enjoy you videos Lydon. You can,t push the pistons in the front brake calliper without taking top of the fluid Reservoir. I know you won,t reply. Brake fluid needs to be removed system pumped up until there is a hard lever with an half an inch of free travel. Checked and if necessary topped up with DOT 4........:):)
This isn’t true. There is an air volume above the rubber diaphragm in the master cylinder which is open to the environment. If you fit new pads and fluid, bleed the system and top off the master cylinder, if you only push them back to fit new pads again there is nothing to do, it just pushed the fluid back and the air volume out above the diaphragm. On an open pit lane track day the pads only last 1 day, simply clean, push them back and fit new pads. Then change the fluid after quite a few days riding, no opening of the reservoir needed. How do you know I won’t reply? Seems strange to say that 😂
Having problems getting parts for my Super Duke 2020 here in Georgia, USA. from KTM. My motorcycle was backed into by some careless driver and he caused considerable Cosmetic damage back in March and I am told I might get those parts in JULY, Can you help me?@! Do you know why it is so difficult to get Parts from KTM????
Brobably because you are in the USA. I suspect KTM USA don’t stock the parts so you have to order them from Austria? Also, Austria might not have stock? I don’t know but if you ask KTM they will tell you.
@@lyndonposkitt I'm still working my way through Season 12 so haven't seen it yet. I've an overland kitted Discovery 2 to go along side my adventure bike!
You run your chain way too tight for the track, if your chain was adjusted that tight at Louden, NH you would high side for sure exiting the bowl. AND MASKS DON'T WORK....lol
Dude you are awesome! Love the maintenance tips. So much good info here for a new rider looking to hit the track. Just say no to masks - oxygen matters, not oppressive karens enforcing masks.
You are such a well rounded rider... amazing. (Please keep the mask wearing virtue signaling out of the videos....the science doesn't support it...particularly outside.)
Whether the science supports it or not, no mask, no attendance at these circuits. You can sit at home without your mask watching others or suck it up, stick it on and get out there and continue to do all the things you did before. That's all we are doing here, following protocol.
I'd love to ride with Simon Crafar. What legend he is and he has a great way with people. Obviously a great tutor.
Get booked in, you won't regret it!
I learned a lot of little tricks watching you wrench in this video. Thanks!
Great footage and tips 👍🏻
One of the best aspects of a SuperDuke R…it owns the road AND owns the track🤘🏻😎
Great video, I really enjoyed it. As a mechanic who works on farm implements I can assure you that a 1/2 impact wrench isn’t a “Big Dog”. lol
Fun stuff. Riding anything with two wheels is fun. Dirt, track whatever...
Amazing! Loved the bit where Simon showed some love to your common motorbiking journeys (trial/enduro/rally/etc). Lots of respect 🙏

All the advice is so good. I messed up my brakes by pushing dirty calipers inward and contaminating the abs ports, wish I knew this beforehand.

No tft warning for unplugged rear blinker ? My sdr18 has warning that won't clear away if unplugged.
