lol when he turned off the HUD im like "OH WE GOT A BADASS OVER HERE!" lmao
I hate the people that say "this guy sucks"
If you've come this far in the game, you do not "suck"
This was a really good video
+MyPenguinsFly What a noob, he use the magic option of dodging Artorias attacks then attacking himself rather than the much more difficult melee option of dodging Artorias attacks then attacking himself.
To you asking why he doesnt use his left hand / arm. He broke it along with his shield to protect Sif :/ imagine him with 2 working arms D:
And he was also left-handed, Artorias was truly the greatest knight that ever existed in DS.
Him at full power... Sorry. I give up. Dark Souls just got impossible. I think I'll go back to Minecraft now, if you don't mind.
(Promptly gets blown up by a creeper)
Well if you believe some theories, the warrior on the cover of dark souls is artorias. In the title he uses the sword in his left hand. Of you believe the theories artorias is using his off-hand. Yeah what if he used his good hand with the shield and had Sif with him? Have fun
Narf Shin it s kinda confirmed in dark souls 2 with the lore description of his sword, it says that all it s previous owners were lefthanded, like Artorias
The story of Artorias, his fighting style, and his appearance all remind me of Guts from Berserk.
We all know if Artorias had both of his arms, we would be screwed.
***** It really does annoy me how so many players in the Dark Souls community seem to think that "Hollow" is a synonym for "Batshit Insane."
I be like: "No, Logan was not Hollow. Just crazy. Artorias was not Hollow. Just corrupted. Lord Gwyn was not Hollow. He just had his mind burned away."
Yes, Artorias was corrupted but alive and he could not take control of his body, thats why he talks in moments
it'd be pretty unfair; he'd have his dominant sword hand and a greatshield
I just love the way Artorias moves in this fight! It's so damn creepy and inhuman, and his intro is the best boss intro in Dark Souls, I think.
I recorded the intro on the first battle and edited it into this successful attempt. I recall it took me around 10 tries before I got this video.
Looks like
Painted Guardian Hood
Black Sorcerer Armor
Havel's Gauntlets and Leggings
The absolute best boss battle in the game, and my personal most saddest, when you hear his death scream, just makes you shiver to the bone.
+Franco Alaba especially if you beat the artorias dlc before fighting sif. it gives sif a new baww filled intro.
The intro only works if you rescue Sif in the Abyss and you can also summon him when fighting Manus
Farewell Artorias.. May your suffering finally come to an end and rest your ailing soul.
People complained that Artorias' dialogue was cut, but I can see why. The whole fight, Arty looks like he's being jerked around by some unseen force, like a puppet on a string. There couldn't have been much of him left inside that body.
A True depiction of a Knight.
Artorias and Gwyn both test your understanding of the basic sword play and survival skill's the main differences being Gwyn is a test of your parrying skills and Artorias your dodging.
im off to fill manus' man cavern with my estus flask
Alright manus! It's time to... oh! Oh oh god no! He's putting his abyss in my catacombs!
At first when I fought him (still have yet to beat him) I thought the other guy was artorias at first and I was like "oh hey he doesn't look so tough" then artorias jumped down and killed him and then I was like "im fucked ._."
***** noo... You have to kill artorias to progress to the main town, where the bloat heads are.
***** Or, It's called not looking into what's in the DLC and playing through the thing without spoiling yourself.
This is the best boss fight ever. Better than anything in Dark Souls 2.
Velstadt could be good if he was a bit faster and tougher (large club can mess him really bad). Both Velstadt and Artorias have really badass attack animations.
Dark lurker was my favorite in dark souls 2, intense fight if you're playing melee
Agreed. I've played the hell out of DkS2 and every boss had a severe lack of character. But that was mostly in part to the game having a disjointed story which left me with no idea why I was wondering around killing things or why they were important.
5:24 Artorias backs up like he's going to take the buff letting the undead think he has now time to heal. Artorias jumps and does the plunging attack instead. #just_Artorias_things
Everytime he screams, I hear a desperate "HELP!".
My dear Artorias T.T
my favorite dark souls boss.
Kalameet for me, it's such a team fight. Dragonslaying is truely a good call. A sad one too though.
artorios...legendary hunter of the abyss...you longed to destroy all creatures of the abyss...and the abyss itself...but you...you were unaware of what it has done to you...
actually it's Artorius, then changed to Artorias because name Artorius already existed as.. somewhat awkward. So they changed to Artorias, but in original it's Artorius
Thank you for this walkthrough (=
It is giving me hope as you are taking hits and healing in between but still managing through the fight also on NG+ and still evading like a pro. Also you're the first I've seen to use pyromancy on him , there is only so much of hack and slash I can do before failing >< thnx
his death scream is the most devastating, depressing and horrifying scream ive ever heard. i havent fought him yet, but i just like artorias so fuckin much and i feel so attached to him...
Classy move disabling the hud at the end. May the force be with you.
I could watch the first 10 seconds of this video over and over again. He nuked that bloated freak. Also just noticed that he twists the blade when he decided to impale deeper. This fuckin guy is brutal.
He was left handed. But his left arm is broken.
Soo he is using his weaker arm against you xD
Which makes him an even more badass!
Awesome video dude, I love Artorias and is definitely one of the best and coolest bosses in games :D.
That intro is so fucking badass...
Who else misses Artorias?
... Ah hell, I better get back to Dark Souls again. Gotta feel the Lordran again...
Artorias theme song, fight as well Kalameet summarizes the apex of what it felt like to be a knight, what the dark feels like, the joy of battle, the intensity of the abyss and the effects of its power, it just sums up DkS in a nutshell.
It's awesome that we can see that's it's not his dominant arm by the way he use it, he is just throwing his arm around
I think this is the best version of this fight I've seen. A lot of players simply memorize his moves and the video of them fighting him is very one sided and not so enjoyable to watch.
This was intense. You came close to death many times, he dodged you, you dodged him at the last second.. It really felt like you were fighting a legendary warrior, and you came out victorious in the end. SO INTENSE. Good vid. :)
this with the opened way as background music, epic
Ah the Artorias fight i spend 35 min fighting him because i was being extra careful to find the most safe battle openings...he had a habbit of screwing things over even when you knew all his attack patterns.....by the end of the fight my fingers were aching :)..best victory achieved msg ever
Thanks for this. Its good to see someone else who genuinely had trouble with this fight. So many youtubers seem to just coast past him like he is nothing which is far, far outside my experience.
No worries. This was my...I think, 9th or 10th try to defeat him at the time. This was shortly after the PC version was released so I wanted to get a video out of the fight regardless. I find it funny watching it back now. I was so desperate to find ways of doing damage from range because I was so crestfallen from melee failure, that I broke out the fireballs, ha. Ah the folly of youth!
I think he only took me like three tries if I remember correctly, but that was in my first playthrough. I never actually beat the game, having lost interest in it almost completely when I got to Lost Izalith. Don't really know why, it just started to feel really boring.
This guy is still fighting with his right hand cause his dominant arm is broken and he still kick ass R.I.P Artorias your sacrifice will not be forgotten.
I never get tired of the boss song of this one
I played through dark souls and its dlc when i was 12 years old and i gotta say i was probably the happiest 12 year old alive at the time not only was the game amazing and memorable but its also what got me into the souls series as a whole and I've been a fan ever since so sad to see the series as finally ended
That's a ballsy move turning off your HUD at the end there
Coolest Bossfight of my gaming-"career" with the most Badass Boss Knight Artorias.
Beat him in NG+ with Greatsword +14 (man, this weapon is just epic) on second try.
Now i wear his unfortunately very weak armor set with proud. Man, I wish I could fight on his site!
That flip attack he does is so awesome
So happy you can do the rolling jump while using his sword in Dark Souls III
This greatest part in the artorias battle is the atmosphare its so emotional and you dont want to beat him, you want to end his suffer
LORE COMFIRMED ART TO BE LEFT HANDED!
Ive never been so happy to be left handed!
Turning off the HUD while Artorias is raging ... omg dude you rule !
He fought with creatures of abyss, lost his arm trying to protect his companion Sif and consumed by abyss gone crazy.
This sh*t reminds me of Berserk. Artorias is Gutts and Gwyn is Griffith. Kinda...
.-. dark souls has clearly inspiration in berserk... just look for the video dark souls tributes to berserk
Nicolas Tolosa Casallas I knew Miyazaki inspired by Berserk for a long time.
I'm pointing out which characters reminds me of what.
WhiteIsTheWolf
He has two arms, it's just that his left one is completely broken.
When he buffs. I thought I heard a faint "heeelp...meee...."
I counted about six instances during this fight where I definitely would have died. Kudos to you, guy.
the most badass entrance ever
the craziest part of this fight is that Artorias was defeated long ago and your only fighting a shadow of his former self.
i HATE when he screams at the end its sounds sooo sad :(
I really wish they gave us his entire moveset with his sword. I also wanna play a remastered version of this. it looks like a really fun fight.
Artorias was WAY harder than Gwyn...
That's only if you didn't know you could parry Gwyn. Pretty sure people'd try to parry Artorias if you were able to. Besides, Gwyn's soul was scattered and the fire brought him down by eatting off his essence to the point he went from God to Demi-God, to Human to Hollow.
I found Gwyn way harder than Artorias because I played a sorcerer.^^
You don't have any free time-windows in the Gwyn fight to cast spells or to heal up. At the End I parried him to death using some sword that I upgraded just for that fight x)
Patrick Hentschke You could have just kited him around a rock. That's what I ended up doing. It wasn't easy, but it worked.
As someone who's awful at parrying. Gwyn is way harder. He doesn't stop attacking. Artorias sometimes walks slowly and has long recovery times from a lot of his attacks. Gwyn just doesn't stop.
I didnt knew that I can parry Gwyn but I still think that Artorias was harder.
Yes, and he also lost to Manus with both those hands (despite the fact, that he protected Sif). That's why when I first got to DLC it took me about 40 tries to finally kill Artorias, however, I gave up on Manus.
I wish could've fought Artorias in his prime. I would've felt like a fucking God defeating him
dat heroic leap
imagine if he didnt have a limping arm lol
Looks more like he dislocated his shoulder joint/ball and socket..
"Artorias! I have come to for fill a promise to Sif and free you from your torment!!"
The most badass knight and boss ever.
Challenging Artorias on new game plus. This sir is one Internet, it is for you.
Reingnus And Iron golem was rolled over by Tarkus before:
Me: Summoned Tarkus, fuck yeah!
Tarkus: Hi there little shit, I'm here to make you my bitch again.
Golem: [Panic intensifies]
This fight rekt my playthrough for a bit. Eventually powered through this little bugger though.
OMG, I can't stand that scream...it shows you how hardly he fought against the abyss. This was a battle between two heroes, both of them manipulated.
This battle is still the best of all the souls games
His arm is dead. That injury came from during his fight in the Abyss. He had Sif, the huge grey wolf who was a puppy at the time, fighting along and both of them were overwhelmed.
Artorias decided that Sif is more important than himself so he uses what was left of his shield to make a barrier around Sif. Around that time, is probably when he got the gnarly injury in his left arm. You can look at his left pauldron. Hope that helped :)
Ha, having watched it back, I have to agree. Thank you.
Artorias huh? Bad-Ass name for a Bad-Ass knight.
+h4ck3rm0m walmart oh yeah, that boss was definetly really fun. he was a huge pain in the ass though lol.
h4ck3rm0m walmart yeah he did look really cool, but he never really gave me the feels that artorias did. artorias' backstory was just too good, and that really has a huge affect imo.
Raime the Fume Knight also sounds badass, and his boss fight was fucking awesome. Tough as hell but awesome.
Still prefer DS1 tho
Heh, Atorias does Dante's Stinger
He killed me so many times, but then I defeated him and felt kinda sad. He was easily the coolest mofo in this game, yet I'm not gonna see him again anytime soon. I let him be with Ciaran in the end, but fuck, his Abyss Greatsword let me somersault flip the fuck out of some Darkwraiths, I'll fucking get that next time.
When I finally beat him on ng+ I used fire bastard sword +10, iron great shield +10, and no armor. I think I had havel's ring and maybe steel protection idk. The fight literally took 30 minutes I learned how to dodge all of his attacks and when to counter. It was not a fluid fight, it was systematic
at 2:17-2:38 he starts to raise his power but also the Music Syncs with his rage Incredible love this fight
Thee used his patience,I love that, make more vids but melee not Magic because it not worth it hand to hand, man to man
Rumors say that this disabled knight will be in smash
Okay seriously, when the fireball hits him while he's jumping and he's just spinning through the air towards you ON FIRE? I think... I know true terror.
If you listen carefully before he's surrounded by darkness he says "leave"
hes even more of a badass since hes featured on the original game cover holding his sword in his right hand....hes using the sword in his left during this fight showing hes kicking your ass using his bad hand and no shield @.@
try listening to live and learn while watching this. makes the fight just a bit more amazing
Artorias is such a real time badass man.
He´s amazing!!!
Artorias - The Fate of Guts (from Berserk)
He's like a competent veldstadt & Ornstein in one :D might just play DkS1 and get this DLC just for him.
The DLC is better than the whole game before. Go and get it! :D
Oh man. I just bought AotA, and I am extremely impressed. Much more difficult then I anticipated. I was also hoping you could help me with finding a good armor set that can fast roll. My current one is Dusk of Oolacile, Dark Armor, Antiquated Gloves, and Dark Leggings, all fully upgraded. Should this be good enough for the boss and the rest of the DLC?
i just can't help but to laugh when that creature starts to sound like it's laughing and then artorias pounces on it, leaving blood everywhere.
Loved how I can get his set including the shield in Dark Souls 3! :D
The lost sinner's moveset (DS2) is pretty similar, though Artorias looks more challenging.
Died like 20 fucking times plus when I first attemted to beat this nut.
Even Kalameet was easier then Him.
god job,I have beaten him the 2nd overall attempt on ng plus !
is that the old above 25% ninja flip? got the game after the patch so im curious
Artorias be like: "Yo Tryndamere, am I doin this right?"
Video description will enlighten you.
Magic is not the best way but a good sword is it
His arm broke because he wanted to save his little puppy when they were at the abyss.
This is how dark souls 2 should be bosses with a lot of health and punishes the hell out of you like orstein, man us,and yes atorias
Guys just imagine how hard it would be...If he used both arms....
zero two imagine if he had his great shield and could block your attacks
thats i believe because he does not have his great shield :\.. imagine this fight with him wielding the shield too! :O mayor pain!
hear this music musica de triste rebelacion (violin) and put this video in mute and start both videos at the same time as quick as you can and enjoy the epicness
I've read some people dissing Artorias because he was defeated by the Abyss and didn't actually save Dusk. Seeing as how the chosen Undead is the one that acomplishes his feats.
What those people don't seem to realize is that the chosen Undead is well... undead. Like you didn't get your ass handed to you at least once exploring the Oolacile Township, the Chasm or fighting Manus.
Artorias had no extra lives. He was just a Knight of Gwyn, He probably had no motivation to risk his life to save Oolacile save for his duty, and even in the end he forfeits his chance at survival to ensure Sif's.
And even corrupted, crippled and weakened he beats you to a pulp a couple times. You, persisten undead, you...
He wasn't the strongest warrior who ever lived. But he was probably the bravest and most noble.
+AoNoise I beat him first try. Same with Manus, although I admittedly trolled the shit out of Manus because I saw his eyes on the way down and shot the shit out of him.
+AoNoise You forgot about one astounding thing - he fights with his offhand. His main hand is broken. If he had both hands and a shield, he would most likely be undefeatable.
+AoNoise So Artorias is better than the Chosen Undead because he's a weakling. I bet you like Batman too.
+Bowlcuts "What is bravery without a dash or recklessness" - Hawkeye Shrek
not to mention he doesn't have estus to heal like us.
