Ok I love how you’re not complaining about the price and the food and everything cause there’s been so much negativity in the news recently about all the hotel quarantining and this is just a breath of fresh airrrrrrr love you!
She’s not complaining because she can afford to spend $3000!! to fly back home. Most people who cannot avoid travelling (for funerals etc.) to hotspots and coming back home cannot fork out that amount of money.
Alanah Doxey that may be true but all I’m saying is that everyone, no matter their circumstances, has the choice to complain or to be positive and accept their situation. Shani chose to accept the situation and be positive, which is something I don’t see much of anymore, even from ‘rich influencers’
As a Covid hotel worker, thank you for being so kind and understanding! We are extremely busy during the day with new arrivals and deliveries and phone calls, but people like you remind us why we are in this business. Thank you!!!
I love how polite Shani is to all of the staff and workers! She is always soooo kind to them and never takes out the frustration of being quarantined on them! It’s refreshing to see! 👏🏼👏🏼
When you say $2800 it sounds like so much but when you break it down thats $200 a day. Plus they give you 3 meals a day and if you're estimating that to be $20 a meal, that's $60, so it's actually $140 a day. Still a decent amount of money but you could have not been getting meals at all.
It's a total money grab. Who the hell spends $65 PER DAY on food? Unless money isn't an issue for you. Not to mention many people only eat once a day!!
thank you so much for this positivity Shani! watching the news is so scary and the media shows all the negatives towards hotel quarentine / people coming home from other states. This makes me realise all of the different circumstances people have for coming home / travelling. I also struggle with motivation & watching this makes me realise how much I have access to and to be grateful for. you’re doing so well & I can’t wait for your videos when you get home!
You should do some sort of video with Callum! Like that trend atm of "asking my brother things you're afraid to ask yours" ??? Or you could do a "friends control my day" vid! Might be kinda limited but it could be fun face timing friends and they can think of something for you to do instead of having to come up with it yourself 🤣💖
I didn’t fully understand why you were quarantining in a hotel until watching this. I mean they even have police & military enforcing this. I know you may be going nuts but you got this Shani-it is for Safety reasons and you’ll see your family SOON!!! I really wish the U.S. would enforce something like this. But no we have one of the worst leaders in the world who hasn’t taken this pandemic seriously 😒 😩😪I can go on and on but won’t. Stay safe Shani ❤️ BTW Michael is too sweet!! ☺️
I’m locked down in Melbourne so I really enjoyed watching this!!! Please keep the videos coming, only thing that’s going to keep me sane!!! Ps could you share your skin care routine!! You’re glowing girlllll
thank you for the comment, makes me want to keep filming! ive gotten a few messages saying how they hate that im showing this experience because its unfair i get to see my family and they dont (in two weeks) so thank you, means a lot to me xxxx
Shani Grimmond I think you should keep filming too! Maybe do a quarantini haul of things you get to make iso better. Don’t listen to the haters! No matter what you do they will have an opinion ! Xx🌻🌻🌻
This was such a great share!! WOW the level of service at the hotel was outstanding !Whoever is managing this team needs to share their secrets . I feel customer service for a lot of other companies has gone down the toilet- which is understandable- but how much nicer is it to feel so supported? xx
Super interesting ! Thanks for sharing. I had to quarantine with my son for 14 days inside my tiny apartment it wasn’t much fun but we made the most of it ❤️ Def makes you appreciate the little things in life hey. Xx
I live in Washington State and hearing about police escorting you to get air and military being there was so shocking to me. It’s crazy how everyone’s experience in this is so different!
I’m flying from London to Sydney soon and this video has really helped me get some sort of expectation! Thank you so much for posting. Interested to see you on day 10...🙄 Stay positive hun ✨💕
Sharni i dont ever really comment but good on you. You are staying so positive throughout this experience!! there needs to be more people like you in this world xx
By day 14 i almost went crazy and got sick because of anxiety 😔 couldn't eat a thing...was so grateful when the 14 days were over and i went back to my own home at 12am.
Hahah the worst actually! The government locking people down, military and police forcing themselves into peoples homes, taking everyone’s rights and freedoms away, curfews, mandatory masks over a simple cold with very low deaths. Yeah right they’re trying to turn Australia into China... communism. Microchipped, controlled and tracked. Say goodbye to your rights LOL. They say this will be temporary but they’re lying. The government said income tax was going to be temporary but look at it now its permanent. The virus isn’t killing people. Science shows masks don’t work to stop a virus and neither does social distancing and hand sanitizers. Our immune system is what kills viruses. Government is lying 🤗
Hi I just subscribed to you, I’m from s a and lived in Brisbane . Just want to say I’m sooo proud your done that . Hearing ppl going against isolation , and putting other ppl at risk makes me mad but seeing you done the right thing made me happy n want to share this . Thankyou for doing the right thing and I hope you entertained yourself well . Here if you want a chat . X
Thank you so much for sharing this 🙏🏻 😘 I’m about to move home to QLD from Melbourne and I’ve been scared about quarantine and the process. I was also wondering if you could share the process of moving the dogs too as I have 2 small dogs (more like my kids lol) that are moving with me too xx
Hey Shani! I love that you are showing your experience of mandatory hotel quarantine! Considering the large audience you have I wanted to ask if you could discuss the current travel restrictions and quarantine on international passengers as well. As you said, you hadn't seen your family in 2 months so couldn't go any longer. I am a dual citizen and have my whole family in Europe besides my partner. I haven't seen my parents in 9 months and haven't seen my sister in 13 months. The process of exiting Australia involves obtaining an exemption to travel which is arbitrary and impersonal. Those wishing to be reunited with family are being asked to provide medical certificates of impaired mental health, death certificates and more. If an exemption is granted, it is by no means guaranteed and rarely occurs in a timely manner with hundreds of people missing saying their final goodbyes and thousands more having to navigate this excessively onerous system just to be by the side of a dying relative or simply reunite with their husband, wife or child. That this is distressing is self-evident. Furthermore, the entry restrictions are also problematic, both for those overseas currently trying to return and those who have had a compelling reason to leave the country and need to return. The 30-person cap on incoming flights is utterly nonsensical when only citizens and PRs are allowed to enter, and all must undertake 14 days in self-funded hotel quarantine. In practice, these caps are forcing airlines to elevate fares to unaffordable levels, meaning that only the wealthiest Australians are able to return, leaving the rest stranded. A business class ticket from London to Sydney is currently $12k per ticket. This is in addition to the now mandatory quarantine fees of $3k on arrival. The costs multiply further for couples and families and is leaving thousands of Australians in dire straits, stranded overseas with expiring visas, no housing, and bank accounts quickly diminishing. I have been denied to exit Australia and due to the passenger caps on overseas arrivals I would most likely be unable to come back for months if I would be allowed to go (I have been denied 3 times already). In large, the outbound travel ban, coupled with the inbound flight restrictions are prohibiting the return of Australian citizens to their home country, and causing untold hardship for the 4.4. million dual citizens/residents of Australia who are indefinitely separated from their families. While the travel ban was instrumental in containing the initial spread of Covid-19, as the situation develops, the continuance of the current restrictions fails to adhere to the stated “least intrusive possible method to protect the public health”. There has not been one official update on when this ban will be lifted or indication that the government is moving towards a more sustainable and effective border control policy like so many other countries around the world. It is not fair to deny Australian citizens the right to their freedom of movement to both exit and enter the country. We are being deprived of reuniting with our loved ones (remembering family is not always blood), people who work in sectors that heavily rely on tourism are losing their livelihood and then there is the issue of mental health and suicides. Being told that we should have "decided to come home earlier”, or that wanting to say a final goodbye to a parent is “selfish and entitled”, at a time of enormous emotional stress, is appalling. Unfortunately the government has chosen to disregard the multiculturalism that this country’s economy has relied upon for generations. THX SHANI!
Can I ask if you can post which hotel you were taken to, obviously once you finish your 14 days? Im moving to Brisbane from Sydney in 2 months and we might have to still quarantine.
Hey Shani! I’ve been watching you on TH-cam for like 5 years now and just love your positive energy, it’s contagious! I recently started my own TH-cam channel for home workouts and fun little dance cardio routines! While your stuck in quarantine it could be something to keep you entertained and brighten up your day! You’ve always put a smile on my face when I watch your vids and I would love to return the favour! Sending you lots of love!!
I am in mandatory quarantine as well!! On day 12 today and surprisingly I haven't gone crazy yet :) You're really lucky that you are able to go out for some fresh air... In my hotel I don't think that's an option.
mukbang plsssss!!!! Love your positive attitude towards this quarantine period Shani 🥰I live in Melbourne and I completely understand why you wanted to get out of here lol 😂 hope everything will be back to normal soon x love you!
Hope the next couple of days go alright ❤️ I started listening to Rob Dial’s The Mindset mentor podcast cause u mentioned it a while back on ur stories and oml he’s so good to listen to and stay motivated esp when we’re just inside all day anyway
Keep working out and keeping a routine and you'll be ok. Also make sure you talk to other people like calling or just messaging them. I just got out of quarantine. Good luck x
She will mostly likely get tested in her quarantine period before she leaves. My partner and I had to do mandatory quarantine (we also left Melbourne) and we got tested twice, on the 3rd and 10th day and thankfully both came negative.

Shani! This vlog was so good. Thanks for being real about it. Here’s to no more exploding dinners xx take care it’ll be over before you know it! And imagine how good being outside will feel. Also.... if you wanna write down all the things you are looking forward to once you’re out of quarantine this might keep you going if you’re felling down xx
I think this will definitely help anyone that is dreading going into mandatory quarantine ... it can sound scary af, but it can be manageable with a few things like routine !
Could you please do a QnA TH-cam about travel. Your travel is absolutely goals. But I’m interested to know little things like what data plans you use, what you pack, essentials tips and tricks best places to visit etc. I love you keep posting girl. Good luck in quarantine 👏🏻👌🏻❤️
Journey Kopka something that saves lives shouldn’t be scary. Anyone choosing to travel/move to escape the hotspots ect in a pandemic should really understand by now, the requirements are only trying to stop the spread 😔
which state (VIC , QLD , NSW) is this in? and is it a govt provided accommodation for 2-week quarantine or this is your own unit where you live day to day?
You’re doing so well, I was getting stir crazy thinking about being in that room for two weeks haha! Stay strong and thanks for the video xx are we able to send you things to do whilst you are in quarantine?
hahah thanks so much lovely! omg thats so sweet, my family is dropping things off to do, i think they would get a little mad if i have the addy out incase i got a bunch of stuff! haha i love you guys!!

My mum stayed in quarantine recently in Brisbane and the meals were not worth $20 each.
The government also has security guards, caterers etc to pay. Seems reasonable to me.
My parents are in quarantine and the meals are horrible. They don't eat it because it's disgusting.
It's a total money grab. Who the hell spends $65 PER DAY on food? Unless money isn't an issue for you. Not to mention many people only eat once a day!!
