it is a very versatile amp with hughe sounds. I love my Stiletto Trident till this day. People who say it is a bad amp, absolutely have no clue what they talkin about. Period.

Thanx for your review on this amp. Out of all the Boogie amps, this one and the lonestar intrigued me the most. I'm a child of the 70's so the tone these amps produced are definately geared to my taste more than the others. You are spot on with your comment about the traditionalists.

I tried one of these at guitar center and was actually very impressed. Great sounding amp, very chunky.

This is a great sounding amp. I wish Mesa would re-release it as a mini lunch box version. I have no idea why people would give this amp a bad review.

Because people would use it at bedroom levels, it's designed like a classic marshall, to be cranked.

@@felinekaiju4517mine is a stg2 and its 100w(deuce) and i pair it with a 100w Marshall dsl hr. The dsl is loud af to get it singing. The stiletto is louder. By quite a bit. So my stiletto is more being used for its rectoesque lows and low mids. Its at 1 oclock for the bass and mids. The treble is at 9 oclock. My marshall is eqd with everything at 1 oclock the treble is at prob noon and it cranked. Itll take your head off. The mesa i have to turn it up until the volume matches the dsl then i add preamp gain until the saturation is where i want. They make one sound the only real overlap is the midrange

Thanks for this. I just grabbed a Deuce Stage 1 head, and man, I am blown away by it! I had to buy it, a guy in the Toronto area had it posted for $750 CAD! In mint condition, serial number under 150! He said he doesn't use it anymore. Been playing around with it all week, and holy, this is a sleeper amp from Mesa! All the complaining online about the tone-stack, the brightness, lack of low-end, is pure nonsense! As always, if the EQ dials aren't working as you've previously used with other amps, listen to your ears! This amp has FANTASTIC tone. You can do metal, you can do crunch, and the cleans are the best on a Mesa amp I've ever heard, in my opinion. Play around with the settings and tone-controls, this thing is a VERSATILE BEAST! SHHHHHHHHHH, let this be the collective Stiletto owners' little secret. Don't want the prices to soar on the limited availability on these haha. I'm so glad I grabbed it 😅🤘👍

Owned one of these for a minute ten years ago. Was between the Stiletto and an H&K mk2 and the mk2 won out. Like all Boogies, it needs to be dialed. This amp can get ear piercing in the treble once you start turning it up. Very much a Mesa take on a Marshall. IMO, with the new Triple Crown series, Mesa has perfected their take on this style of amp.

    • @SluggerStark

@Daniel Vincent Ya man! I was blown away by how awesome the mk2 sounded....tones of killer tones in that thing! Really underrated amps. As for Mark series Boogies, I agree with you there as well; recently ended up with a Mark 5 90W head and similar to the mk2, it is super versatile!

There isn’t another amp out there that quite hits my tone like a Stiletto Fluid Drive.

  • @noodlesatf

I'd say 80-90% of the bad reviews are of the Series 1 amps. Those things had an absolutely awful channel 2; limp and flubby sounding, with no balls. They fixed that for the Series 2 amps, but by then the damage was done. Everyone already made their minds up about Stilettos.
I played one for years in a two guitar band, where the other guy had a Recto. Stiletto Ch2/Fluid Drive and Recto Ch3/Modern go together like chocolate and peanut butter. Our drummer used to say the Stiletto sounded like a chainsaw ripping through your face. That pissed off, upper midrange grind fit perfectly into the spot that is scooped out in the Recto sound, giving us the huge wall of guitar. I think too many guitarists don't actually play in bands, so they don't realize that you need to dial in a sound that fits with the overall sound of the band, rather than something that sounds killer in your bedroom. As bedroom jamming goes, Mesa makes the most uninspiring sounding amps in the world, but they're king when you add drums and bass.

I have the Mesa Stiletto Deuce Series 1. If you plug the right guitar into it, and spend enough time fiddling to find it, usable sounds can be had in every channel. A lot of ifs there. I suppose I can see why it wasn't liked. I've always been happy enough with mine, though.

Super Good review. I own one since they came out. Extreme well build, like you said. Shame of The negative reviews online. Its a freaking great amp. I did thought About it selling it for Many times, just because I had no clue for dialing it in correctly. I have a great Metallica Sound out of it. And what you “forgot” to mension is , it takes extremely well pedals!! If you plug in The mooer devin townsend in The fx loop, you have a wall of sound That is zo massive, you can destroy worldwar tanks with it. :-)
I love it for extreme tight Rythm sounds , for solo Sound still looking for that buckethead Sound. Keep it up. Greetings from belgium

Impulsively bought one. I had a rect o verb 50 combo and regret selling it. Now I can’t find a rect o verb but did find a 1 x 12 stilletto. I one time fiddled on the fluid setting and said I had to have one. I’m a little worried now that it doesn’t have that mesa “spongy” clean thing going on

@@redeyeddogproductions4222 I know. I have owned a stage 2 Stiletto. Yeah, it is probably Mesa's most traditional Marshall style amp. Better cleans than an 800 and with fluid drive, it can get in to more modded 800 territory. That said, a dual rec is a more versatile amp IMO. I wouldn't trade a dual rec for one. You can find Stilletos for pretty cheap; I would just scoop one up.
