Why would they be changing a major component of the plane outdoors? I’m sure there are locations throughout the United States that are protected from the environment and are protect against contamination
What if the B1 received engines with thrust vectors and super cruise capability similar to the f22? Would that improve the B1 ability to perform penetration missions?
Does anyone out there know for sure and not guessing how many B-52‘s and Bones are there that are operational. Not including those that are on the ground for maintenance and repairs?
Wiki Says "The General Electric F101 is an afterburning turbofan jet engine. It powers the Rockwell B-1 Lancer strategic bomber fleet of the USAF. In full afterburner it produces a thrust of more than 30,000 pounds-force (130 kN). The F101 was GE's first turbofan with an afterburner"
Not trying to take anything away from our USAF A/C Techs. But those engines are not considered Monstrosity Engines they are considered as a low bypass engine. And there only 6to maybe 10 feet off the ground. Try doing an engine change On the Nunmer 2 Engine 30 feet up in the air on a Hi bypass engine on a Lockheed L1011 the Rolls-Royce RB211. OR on the Number 2 Engine on a DC-10 The (GE) CF6 Or the Pratt n Whitney JT-9D Also 30 Feet in the air I've done both in my 40+ year Career as an AMT! There's Zero room for Error if u F- up someone is dead or a Multi-million Dollar Engine is reduced to Junk n your Ass is Fired!
One of the most beautiful aircraft ever built. She looks like she's going Mach 2 standing still.
And the B52 still flying high and proud.

You don't always have the luxury of being inside to do some of the maintenance

The REAL backbone is the B-52.
There aren't enough B1 and B2 COMBINED to count as a "backbone", due to budgeting limitations and fights.

And what if you decided to be a grown up for once and just lay down the weapons...and take on some wisdom?.

still think the F-14 ought be brought back but give it a new look
Built to replace the B52, yet the BUFF is still likely to outlast it.
DO U SEE COVID BUMS IN THE BUFF? IS THE THE SUCKY SUCKY ONES? DOT ASS DO TEL? HOLLA BAC GURLL
What does it take for an engine to be "Monstrously Powerful"?
pretty much the same GE engines as the Navy F 14D fighter ....??
Haha nice. Well said
Monstrously, there is no other?
Isn't the Russia TU-160. bigger? Faster?
😂 auch die kann gut brennen. Wie viele sind schon abgestürzt ?😂
참네 아이고 언제껀대
The B1 is large - but nowhere near "gigantic".
You're talking A380, 747, PERHAPS C5 for "gigantic:.
