Hello! It's come to my attention that some of you are getting this video as school homework, and while I welcome those of you who have used the information in this video to your advantage, I'd appreciate it if viewers that enjoyed the video to a lesser extent would hold their tongue when commenting. It's not my fault your teacher gave you boring train homework 😂. That being said, it's only a 6 minute video, at least it's not an entire documentary, eh? Genuinely, though, if you're a teacher that has given this video as homework (looking at you, Ms Mubah) I hope you're all getting some value out of this video I made for a laugh three years ago!
Very good video I really like the fact that you included Matthew Murray and Salamanca as the first operationally successful steam locomotive as everybody alse forgets this or doesn't do enough research to find out that the Salamanca and the Middleton railway in south Leeds west Yorkshire was the first operational railway/wagonway in the UK opening in 1758 though an act of parliament.
Imagine This: Rush Hour, 3 Hour trip, A Train pulls up no free seats can't wait for next one or you'll be late to a very important meeting at Generic Trains inc. 'We're slightly better than suthern' What do you do?
Maybe one day. I have a full time job these days, and these videos took up a lot of my time before I was employed. I would like to come back and make more videos at some point though.
Ummm excuse me? I was supposed to get the history of rail travel in UNDER 6 minutes, but this is clearly 6 minutes and 2 seconds. Nope..not gonna work for me
Wouldn't say I quit - just that I made these videos when I had a lot of free time. I work full time these days and have less time to make videos, or at least videos to the standard I'd like. They took me months to properly research, write and produce without me having a full time job.
@@theaverageteleporter7435 In all honesty, I might come back when I get the chance. Definitely haven't quit permanently, I'd love to make more stuff like this in the future.
The videos I've released already have taken anywhere up to 6 months to research, script, voice, edit and upload, and that was back when I wasn't working full time. Video output now is slow because my life completely changed after going into an 8 hour day job. I have a few ideas for videos in the pipeline though, so watch this space.

From the 1820s to the late 1950s, considered to be the golden age of American railroading.
Industrial revolution lead to industrial war. We live in an amazing modern age. However people in the year 2200 will think we lived like peasents lol
"i bloody hate trains"
Great video.
Imagine This:
Rush Hour, 3 Hour trip, A Train pulls up no free seats can't wait for next one or you'll be late to a very important meeting at Generic Trains inc. 'We're slightly better than suthern'
What do you do?
Northern=1Hour late
Merseyrail=When it suits US.
TPE=Time?
Southern=Are we a train company?
Great video! Happy you did it and I found it. Wish there were more recent videos in your channel.
"13 miles between Baltimore and Ohio"
It's actually between Baltimore and Elicott City. Baltimore and Ohio was the company name.
This really feels like something I should've proofread more about! Thanks for the correction, I'm not sure how I managed to miss that detail 😳
Lmao this reminds me of the railway empire video game
I came to try comment section to figure this 13 mile thing because on maps Ohio and Baltimore are many many miles apart. So thanks.
appreciate this vid
great background video as I will be teaching year 4 and the the railway as being a significant turning point in history.
please make more vidios because there briliant
Thanks so much! Finding it difficult to find time to make videos at the moment, but I'm trying my best to write more scripts!
In 600 BC we had rutways, and in 2014 we had ................................. guided buses. We (Cambridge) have made zero progress at all!

Who paid for the railway in USA?
This is good
fascinating!
Will you ever return?

Ah cool
Egypt railways started at 1853 its the second railways after uk
I’m sure it’s the high edditing that means the video is delayed by 3 years
LOL

Time to delete my whole channel, I've been exposed 😳

Good information 😍
Please mind the gap between the timetable and reality.

Congratulations you've sold out. I hope one day you can go back to MLG Dubstep Peppa Pig vids
Maybe one day, I'll never forget my roots 😂
I think trains really lost importance in USA but railway was still very popular for the rest of the world.
Yeah but America never had a great railway system like the rest of the world, and air travel is far more profitable

@@JohnHigh yes for homeschooling due to corona 😂
but... the crash at crush!
I tried to keep all the major points relevant to the progression of rail travel as a whole, rather than focusing on stuff like that!
