Fell in love with Optimum Gloss Coat the other day! I've applied two other brands of coatings and Optimum Gloss Coat is by FAR the easiest to apply and after learning about the technology that went into it through the Optimum Synergy Podcast I am confident it is a superior coating to all other consumer grade coatings. If you are at all apprehensive about buying this and worried about how difficult it is to apply figuring these pros are making it look easy, it really is this easy. Just as the video shows, wipe it in, wait a few minutes and gently buff out the high spots. With other coatings the wipe off window of time was very narrow. If you buff too early it smears the coating. Too late and it's tacky and your microfiber won't slide across the panel. Way too late and the high spots have hardened and you have to polish and start all over. Not at all the case with Gloss Coat. Sure, if you wait wayyyyy to long then yes the high spots will harden. And if you wipe it on then immediately try to wipe off then of course you're going to end up taking the coating off or smearing it. Yet, the window of opportunity to wipe off/level the high spots is very wide and forgiving. With gloss coat, application was so easy I quickly became confident enough to just keep moving from one panel to the next applying continuously until about two minutes had elapsed from the first panel then I would buff off that panel. Apply to another panel, then buff the next panel that reached two minutes from application. I was able to apply Gloss Coat to the entire vehicle using just 4cc's in just under 20 minutes. Applying a sealant with a DA takes longer than that with buff off time included.
Can this be applied outside (in the shade of course and in reasonable weather?) if so, how long do I leave it before applying the sacrificial opti seal layer?
hey guys when you leveled the high spots I noticed you did it twice. 1) did you use the SAME applicator as was used to initially apply the coating? 2) why use the applicator vs the MF towel? thanks for the solid video!
+The Rag Company thank you so much for the information! I finally got it all dialed in. I love this stuff! I actually got my car ready to be coated and went to the gas station where they have dim lighting - at night. And viola. Perfect lighting to see the high spots.
Hi guys, can you spot correct a small area of marring and re apply opticoat in that one spot - obviously there’d be a bit of overlap onto an area of existing opticoat
Could this be done without using Hyper Polish? As in with no polish? I have some incoming just in case. I have .001 experience with my PC 7424XP and I am about to do a set of Viper wheels. No worries, they are backup drag wheels for my buddies '97 B/W GTS! Also, I have Lake Country Pads. I take it that their white polishing foam pad will work just fine? (5.5 inch).
Levi/Yvan need advice! My first time using gloss coat was 3 days ago on a brand new navarra blue audi, looks beautiful and the product is outstanding to work with and after 2 hours or pacing the car I found I had zero high spots. Now, after car had been sat in my garage for 2 days, today I released the car, just as it started to rain heavily. I've heard of water spotting with gloss coat while it's still in the 7 day curing period, I want to avoid that, can I use ONR-W&S (but not soap) to clean it now then dry it with either opti-seal or car wax.....or, can I use a car dryer to rid the water that's beading beautifully or am I best off leaving it until after the 7 days?
+RN-Buffer you can wash them and re-use w/o issue. i always rinse right after and/or throw in a bucket with water or solution if i know i won't be washing immediately.
Can I use Menzerna compound and Memzerna polish along with Car Pro Eraser to correct and prep the paint or do I have to use the products in this video before applying the Optimum Gloss Coat. Also, what kind of coating is this exactly? Ceramic or something different?
A quick question for Levi or Yvan....I recently bought the Zentool and Zentool Mini. According to Optimum's website you should only use Optimum pads with the Zentool. Are there any other brand name pads that would be appropriate to use with it? I have several other name brand pads (Lake County, Buff n Shine, etc..) and would like to also use those if possible before I spend more $$$ on new pads. Thanks and I appreciate the videos.
Thanks. Another question: I have a 2011 Toyota with near perfect paint. Is polishing a must or can it be skipped prior to Gloss Coat? There are some minor imperfections from previous owners poor washing but it's silver so it's hard to see plus it's minimal.
One hour after application is recommended to protect the coating as it cures. I often use it as a drying aide after ONR washes. Sometimes I do a regular application just to practice.
Can you use that knight rider towel you used to level the coating again for coating or polishing? Or does that towel now go in the lower end pile of towels?
The Rag Company Thank you. Ill check up with my manufacturer and make sure. I've oh started to use coatings this year and haven't had any problems with cquartz but I have noticed some problems with the new one I'm using.
So, Gloss Coat is sold in 10 and 20cc syringes. What size vehicle would you expect to use a 20cc syringe on? How much would i need to coat a 3500 series Dualie?
What do you maintain the coating with? I know some have specific type sealants they use to maintain and keep a slick feel, since some coatings can have a sticky feel.
You only need to lightly clay the surface, to remove contaminants, once per year. Other SiO2 coatings tend to have a "swiss cheese effect" on the surface and because of that they need to be replenished every 6 months. Gloss Coat does not.
Hey Guys, I ordered some wizard 16x16 plush towels and just received them however they don't have a satin border, just lazer cut. Are these the right towels? I double checked my order and confirmed it was the wizard too.
I sent them an email and they took care of me right away. This is why I will continue to buy products from you guys! Ownership was taken for the mistake and new towels were sent right away! Thanks again, Ray
What's the best way to apply it to surfaces that cannot be prepped? Such as spokes on wheels? They're powdercoated so I'd like to keep them nice if possible.
Yup! Gloss Coat provides 2 years of protection! No need to continually wax or seal the surface. You can if your into that sort thing. But there is no need. Keep the surface clean by washing with ONR. Once per year, clay the surface to lightly to remove any contaminants that may have landed on the surface. this will revive your Gloss Coated vehicle.
Good eye, it used to be a big concern, but since I always use the pad washer before returning the polisher to the paint, I know the pad will be clean and fresh every time. That said better safe then sorry.
Stopped watching after they were talking about how "Keeping everything cool is the key to polishing". This is completely FALSE. If your pad and the paint are cool, then you're not correcting anything.
You can. They say Gloss Coat will eventually shed what whatever is on top of it, with the possible exception of Hyper Seal, which is more like "Gloss Coat Lite".

Christopher Benjamin I’ve heard about this infamous podcast, can you link me to it
And no solvent smell. We use Caramic Pro at work and It's not fun at all.
solid video and I appreciate the info you all shared. Used the old opti coat and it seems like this new version is much easier.
Applied it first time outdoor today, pretty easy :)
I'm a fan of gloss coat. Super easy to use and leaves a great look. Great video.
Applied the product, love it!!!!!!!! I utilize ONR for washes. What is the best way to maintain the coating?
LOL I love the double sided pad
Good vid yet again :-) One question though. if you don't have the bad washer how do you clean the polishing pads in between polishing? thanks
I love your videos! much respect

Can you do 2 layers of Optimum Gloss Coat with the 10cc?
I have a brand new car. Do I have to go through all of the prep steps before applying Optimum Gloss Coat?
Thanks for the great video! After wiping off the OGC do we need to throw away the microfiber towels used or can they be washed and used again?
+RN-Buffer you can wash them and re-use w/o issue. i always rinse right after and/or throw in a bucket with water or solution if i know i won't be washing immediately.
Can you add coat of wax after product cures for good measure ?
Is it always necessary to moisten the polishing pad before using hyper polish? I have a bottle of it and have never done this.
what are some other things we can put gloss coat on besides paint and cars?
Can I use Menzerna compound and Memzerna polish along with Car Pro Eraser to correct and prep the paint or do I have to use the products in this video before applying the Optimum Gloss Coat. Also, what kind of coating is this exactly? Ceramic or something different?
Hey, I want to hear if you can use p & s bead maker on top of optimum gloss coat ????.
Is this product comparable to ceramic coating?
Can optimum blue waffle pad be used with hyper polish instead of the black pad to prep the paint before gloss coat?
Yes.
But you probably figured that out!
So you can clean the applicator and use again unlike a true ceramic coating where all applicators and microfiber towels have to be discarded??
Please show close ups of before and after, detailing is about the details. No offense meant, just curious great videos!
Is gloss coat layerable or not?

Thank you, I'll do that.
cooler is better? what? for getting rid or scratches I keep it hot to melt the clear coat back together. I never heard cool is better lol
Will The Rag Company offer the double sided applicator as featured in the video?
Thanks. Another question: I have a 2011 Toyota with near perfect paint. Is polishing a must or can it be skipped prior to Gloss Coat? There are some minor imperfections from previous owners poor washing but it's silver so it's hard to see plus it's minimal.
how soon can you top it with their spray sealant?
One hour after application is recommended to protect the coating as it cures.
I often use it as a drying aide after ONR washes. Sometimes I do a regular application just to practice.
Can you use this on plastics and glass ??
Can you use that knight rider towel you used to level the coating again for coating or polishing? Or does that towel now go in the lower end pile of towels?

Do you have to throw away the towels you use to wipe off the gloss coat afterwards??
The Rag Company
Awesome that's good to know!! Thanks.
So, Gloss Coat is sold in 10 and 20cc syringes. What size vehicle would you expect to use a 20cc syringe on? How much would i need to coat a 3500 series Dualie?
Outstanding to hear. Thank you very much.

What do you do with the rag/cloth used to level off the clear coat. Is that cloth now garbage or can it be rinsed out and cleaned to use again ?
you can reuse it!
How long under storage should the gloss last. Do you measure with gloss meter ?
Email Just Sent
Hey Guys,
I ordered some wizard 16x16 plush towels and just received them however they don't have a satin border, just lazer cut. Are these the right towels? I double checked my order and confirmed it was the wizard too.

Hi Levi/Yvan,
Can I use the Hyper Twins without using a DA Polisher?
Thank you.
The Rag Company By Hand with an applicator and plush microfiber towel...
what about optimum finish polish? i have hyper polish but can i use both? in what order should i do it
I havent used Finish. hyper polish is a great product and in this video thats what we use.
What's the best way to apply it to surfaces that cannot be prepped? Such as spokes on wheels? They're powdercoated so I'd like to keep them nice if possible.
+The Rag Company (rubbing hands together) ....exxxxceeelllent...
So using Gloss Coat, no waxing necessary?
Yup! Gloss Coat provides 2 years of protection! No need to continually wax or seal the surface. You can if your into that sort thing. But there is no need. Keep the surface clean by washing with ONR. When he set the rotary down, it was pad side down on the floor mat, should know better.
Good eye....
+The Rag Company I hear ya. Just havin a little fun! I gotta place an order from you guys one of these days....towels look good😀
Good eye, it used to be a big concern, but since I always use the pad washer before returning the polisher to the paint, I know the pad will be clean and fresh every time. That said better safe then sorry.
A double-sided pad has blown his mind. Right...
I just followed that amazing set of instructions they provided with that useless syringe.... What can I say? Product does work great though😀
I to loathe the syringe, but after a few gloss-coat jobs it gets easier to handle.
@@MasterOfShine - The syringe is better than pain in the rear coatings!
What is the difference between Optimum Gloss-Coat andpti-pcoat Pro+...??
Stopped watching after they were talking about how "Keeping everything cool is the key to polishing". This is completely FALSE. If your pad and the paint are cool, then you're not correcting anything.
Applied the product, love it!!!!!!!! I utilize ONR for washes. What is the best way to maintain the coating?
How long does it take to set
So after applying gloss coat I would apply opti seal, wax, and instant detailer as needed?
You can. They say Gloss Coat will eventually shed what whatever is on top of it, with the possible exception of Hyper Seal, which is more like "Gloss Coat Lite".
