    Thanks to Millenium for making "value" instruments, even though they need to claim on their emblem that they're "high quality". XD - But there would be no way I'd be paying 1099 EUROS (which is even more in USD) for Tama's set of four octobans instead of Millenium's two sets of two octobans for 278 Euros in total. - I've been a guitar-player for just over two decades, but always had a percussionist's heart, and I'm finally gonna try to get into it more seriously with some hardware. - So I'm just looking what's out there, variety and quantity over quality, but with a good balance though, and these are definitely on the list for the price and the size as well. - I don't know how you got them for about 200 USD, considering Millenium seems to be Thomann's in-house brand, based in Germany, and they're closer to 300 USD converted from Euros. Perhaps it's the taxes here or inflation also happened on music-instruments since. But perhaps they might be cheaper to distribute to the US or something, who knows.
    Maybe I should start with one set of them, and then also look at an alternative stand (though I don't know if anything has been changed about them, while they seem to have a new brand-logo), and perhaps heads. If I'd have four, I'd want them more in a cluster like the set of four that Tama sells them as anyway, so I'm not sure if a separate stand exists for that configuration. - I don't want to have to pay a whole load extra as a "beginner". - But anyway, thanks for this demo, it's probably still about the only one out there. With the Remo-heads they do seem to have more clarity and resonance, I suppose, whereas the originals sound a bit more dull I guess. Not sure if that's just a "fluke" because of the camera-placement or whatever. But I get the idea of what they sound like.

    • @Drummershy
      @Drummershy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes they are. Even if its your first octobans! they are worth it if your on a tight budget. keep in mind. idk how you do your setup but depending on how high you want your octobans. Try getting new stands with it. B/C the accessory are not that up to quality.

    • @Czyszy
      @Czyszy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm talking like a rack and a floor tom. Not ready to step into the world of octobans yet. Welp, judging by the quality of the octobans, the regular toms could be just as good.

      Want to do the same out of PVC! Have you found the right sizing of true 6” PVC to 6” drum rims?

      Erik S did you find the right sized PVC diameter online or locally?

    • @Justentime77
      @Justentime77 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yochanman I haven't actually made them yet, but both Lowes and The Home Depot have it in that size. I figured I'd spray them with a textured type paint, like the older Tama's.

    • @yochanman
      @yochanman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Erik S nice! Thats gonna look sweet. our Lowe’s and Home Depot have the 6”. But sadly these are slightly to big for 6” drum heads and rims. I’ve been on the hunt for 5 or 5.5” PVC. Give me a holler if you ever find that size. Believe 5.5” PVC would be the cleanest fit for octobans we’re trying to make.

  • @Paolo-sr6gl

      they all sound pretty much the same, the problem is this clown doesn't have them mic'ed correctly. Have to be internally mic'ed

    • @giuliano8031
      @giuliano8031 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jim A You don't need a mic to demo stuff. The octobans mike uses are deeper, and because if the mic they sound better than in real life, through a cam mic you can really hear the sound since it doesn't augment it further. Cheap octobans from the company Fame would be about the same depth as mike uses, and they would sound almost the same.

    • @Paolo-sr6gl
      @Paolo-sr6gl 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Giuliano Ritieni che gli octobans della Tama suonino meglio anche per via della buona microfonazione che Mike Portnoy e altri adoperano?
