I don't understand why Italian can neither produce elegant artists like Baggio, Totti, Del Piero, nor top-class strikers like Vieri, Inzaghi, Motella, Toni anymore, what happened to Italian football after the golden generation? Even the defenders are not in the same class as Maldini, Nesta, Cannavaro. The so-called talents today can't even be compared to those legends.

Playing time as simple as that, too many club choose cheap foreign Players to buy and use them ..
Maybe only Sassuolo who have consistency use and nurture talented Italian Players as core of the team
Atlanta always produce talented Players too but in recent time when these players move to big3 (Juve, Milan, Inter) they tend to struggle for example : conti, gagliardini, caldara

it's sad that the new generation(s) dont talk about the greats ... pirlo, totti, scholes ... let's not even start with the older legends (Diego). Thank you bro for reminding us football lovers what real football was/is .. too much football these days is played on Instagram and not on the pitch

Thanks for making these tributes to Totti. Even though he won a World Cup and all football fans with a brain recognize him as a legend of the game, I feel Totti is criminally under-rated. Probably because he stayed at Roma and never won much with them. But trophies in a team sport shouldn't factor in when talking about an individual player's brilliance. IMO Totti is streets ahead of Zidane, Ronaldinho, and others of his generation who received more fame simply thanks to the clubs they played for.

I was talking to a friend recently and we compared the world class players from the 1998 - 2006 era compared to today & realised just how far football has sunk in comparison 👎
Totti was just one of MANY world class players in Italy... let alone the world class players from Brazil, France, Netherlands, England etc...
If you think about it, this generation (except Messi & Ronaldo) are nothing special at all when compared to that era of MANY world class players... nowadays you’d struggle to name 10 genuine world class players from each league of the big leagues...

Talent is There... so many players are. But Football has become so tactical thats how it is... Example casemiro is not even good as a sunday league player on ball or with ball but is a regular stadter at RM bcoz he does his job perfectly which is tackling and hardwork...

      @richboy89 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Lets go back to the year 2006: Italy just won the World Cup with that generation of legends. Everyone celebrating these players for the incredible journey to Berlin.
But what's happening in Italy in these years?
2002: Italy leave Lira and join Euro as member of the EU coalization, Italy goes in economic depression and the life of many people will change forever.
2000: The first xDSL connection is now working although the speed is only 640kbps, the internet world (web) is still empty, but will take life in the next years.
Also the PlayStation 2 is released on the market. Nintendo already took giant steps in that direction with GameBoy and Sony is going to annihilate the Pokèmon and friends company with their new generation gamestyle.
These are just raw data, but let's go little more in deep.
Before of that moment, everywhere in Italy there would be kids playing with a ball in public gardens, in church fields, everywhere you would find young people playing soccer even in streets, everyone loves to play the game.
Everyone loved to play football. And life was like that, a ball and much fun, people was so much more relaxed cause there was not economic issues and people came from many decades of really nice lifestyle, there was money for everyone, so people had time to play and have fun.
Also parents would let kids to go out and play more often, cause everywhere people playing already and there was no hurry to get results on other fields since people had a good estate.
Then Euro came, then internet came.... and we got empty streets, empty public gardens, empty church fields, empty everything, people ofc still play the game, but not so often like the past generations.
Kids spend all day watching a smartphone screen instead of playing physics games.
This means less people play the game, less people compete over others, this produce less talents and a lack of genuine growth over young players that have no field (or less field) to improve at a younger stage.
Lets say, if you're skill level 50 and you play against level 25, you will win, but probably you won't learn much, by that your growth can be from 50 to 60, or even less. you won't ever get to level 80-90 like it was the young Messi or Ronaldo (the brazilian).
So it means you have chances to growth only at the main stage, by playing at the higher levels, and not everyone that is coming out from a really low level under-18 world is capable to adapt to the rising levels of these competitions.

@@arshdhanoa4080 Talent is there but i would still say the players of Totti's generation were genuinely more skillful and creative. But you are right, football nowadays has become all tactics unfortunately, and personally i hate it. Yes, you shouldn't be a "fancy" player at the expense of giving up on logical tactics, but the players of Totti's generation had creative ingenuity AND tactics. Football was a sport through which a player could express their creativity, now the sport has become so direct and streamlined. That expression of creativity is why i naturally gravitated towards this sport and not others like American football, baseball, hell even in basketball you can't be as creative.

Sei unico... Onore a te, CAPITANO...
