apart from the D3 which i can buy, what makes the suit better than say motorcycle armour that uses the same tech with kevlar materials?

Kevlar is a hunk of plastic which doesn’t absorb shock, it absorbs bullet hits, knife attacks etc.

Add a layer of closed-ring chainmail.
Youd probavly add another layer for that
I've played with blunt force and knives with the corn starch and water material. It works better against blunt force objects.
Is it stab proof or at least slash proof?
Unfortunatelly not: xionpg.com/faq/ check the D3O section about stab & bullet proof. D3O is a (blunt trauma) impact protective product.
