Hi, this depends on the style, intensity of the wind and many other things. In stylized fire particles don't fly off farther than 1 size of the flame. You can look at references and real fire frame by frame and analyze this yourself. It's really all about asking this questions, looking at effects in reality and good animations by other artists. For dissipation particles can be erased out, rotate, follow the wave or just gradually decrease size. Usually a combination of these.
