Baba Fareed Ji commonly known as Sheikh Farid Ji was a Sufi preacher and one of the most significant saints in Punjab during the 12th century. He is one of the fifteen bhagats whose poetry/shloks are included in Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji i.e. 4 Shabads and 112 Saloks. He is generally recognized as the first major poet of the Punjabi language and is considered one of the great saints of the Punjab. He is respected equally among Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs.
