I think all the old Churches should be kept open for people to escape the crazy world out there and enjoy being in a peaceful place for a while....I'm not a church goer but cant resist checking out these places...they always feel tranquil when they're empty 😊
Went there for holidays with my 8 years daughter last year, we LOVED our trip! this town and its people are great and charming, we'll definatly go back in future !
Ahh, you missed the Guildhall by inches, you can see it through the trees in the churchyard. If you do go back, go on a Friday morning for the market. That’s the day I tend to go to Totnes. I live a few miles away. And, like you, I tend to park in Bridgetown and walk over the bridge. I haven’t been to Totnes Castle for decades. I had a temporary summer job many, many, many years ago as the custodian. In the past few months there has been a huge pothole outside the main supermarket which the council did not fix. So, Totnes folk being Totnes folk, they set up a Trip Advisor account for it which got masses of reviews. The pothole was soon fixed!
Now you are in Totnes and it is another awesome part of Devon i enjoyed the walk and of course the city centre with the restaurants, stores and pubs this would be my favorite part of the town it was another magnificent place to explore thank you.🇬🇧👋🇬🇧
I enjoyed the walk the shops buildings and the castle you were right about tt views they were fantastic i appreciate all you do for the channel hows your you
Well, this is the best video I've seen on your channel. Totnes has been on my list for years, but your video is the first one I've seen of Totnes on a beautiful sunny day! I must get over there and see it live. So many youtube travel videos are mainly an excuse for a long selfie and silly blather with disgusting shots of plates of food at favorite restaurants. Your channel is so enjoyable without all the distractions and the captions are always welcome. And, btw, I love how the English complain about the heat on a sunny day. LOL Come over here to South Carolina sometime and get to know what summer heat is for real!!
Wonderful video Neil of Totnes and some great arty shots 🤣. Lots of superb architecture, including St Mary's. I love my church crawling and churches should modernize and be used for a lot of different things. Otherwise, they'll be closed for good 😟. It looks great. Lots of stuff going on. No sea ⛵ but 🤷. 👍💪 for climbing up to the castle 🏰. I was worried about the heavy breathing 🤔🤣🤣
It’s not a canal, it’s part of the River Dart. The river is tidal and it’s low tide in this video. The green space with trees which may have made you think it was a canal is Vire Island. Just a small tree and tree filled tiny island in the river. A lot of activities and small fairs etc happen there. I find it’s simply a nice place to take my coffee or my lunch on a sunny day.
It's really intrusive filming individuals up close and putting them on TH-cam. It comprises people’s privacy a lot. Couldn't you take the time to blur out faces? Lovely video other than that. I love your commentary. Thank you.

The last few days I’ve been to the churches in the places I’ve filmed to relax in their churchyards!

I absolutely adore Totnes with its beautiful architecture, eclectic, independent shops and a vibrant community. It’s a really lovely town.
Agreed!

Looks lovely would love to go there 😍
You should!
You may need to adjust the RGB or contrast settings Neil. It's a shade lighter than usual... STILL GREAT. 👏👏👏
Was a mad one - the brightest day I’ve ever filmed in!
Brilliant 👍
Thank you
Thanks for the walk. I wonder why there is no water in the canal at 3.08. ? And what is the name of the small houses in the window at 9.07?

🔥🔥🔥
what day a of the week is this
😎Just an idea of what we could use churches for in the future betting shops, then everybody would still be going into them with HOPE.
😮😮🤣🤣
Helo ❤
❤️
@ 22:34 looks a bit like Chester
I remember how steep and long the hill is going into the town centre 😐
It's constant isn't it!
" Why are Castles always at the top of a hill " ???
🤣
