    This karate is muuuuch better than modern karate, specially than the one showed in the olympics, JKA please make Karate great again!!

      I wish it was this great too but unfortunately it would be bad for their business if it has this much contact, less people would consider going to karate

      @@reivhal9057 - They could institutionalize different levels or pathways, with one being focused on self-defense, spiritual discipline, and health, and the other including all of these things I just mentioned but being in addition focused on competition. And when it comes to competition, the JKA and all Karate organizations, really, should abandon tournament style point sparring. It's dangerous. What I mean is that if that's what you're training for-scoring a point for judges who can't always tell if a technique is really effective or not (because it's not full contact), and then stopping and resetting as soon as you've scored that point or as soon as the fight goes into a clinch or to the ground-then you're going to get killed in a real fight. That's just common sense.

    Old school JKA kumite. No pads, contact allowed, no flopping, no hansoku-chui for face contact, no angry 'he hit me!' Taking hits like they were nothing. One punch ippons. Compared to the light touch tag and screaming running around the mat like a lunatic that is done today.

      Was the first combatant disqualified?

    • @sanseiryu
      @sanseiryu ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sullyb23511 Hansoku means excessive force not controlled. That does mean disqualified. If the opponent didn't get knocked out, contact was less severe and the opponent could continue, chukou, first warning would be given. Second contact, second warning, keikoku. Third and final contact, then Hansoku. Still up to referee to decide whether contact was too strong, or opponent moved into the strike without blocking or avoiding it.

    That's a weird looking punch in that first bout. Almost looks like a backhand strike in the slomo recap. But still effective!

      Nope. I believe that was a dq. White demonstrated lack of control. That contact to the head by white, is not allowed if you are the aggressor. If, on the other hand, red was moving in, that would be different.

    • @dingo8babym20
      @dingo8babym20 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you look closely, the judge POINTS at white. An OPEN hand would have indicated ippon

      @@GibNR_ I dig that, completely. I trained/ competed in JKA/ISKF back in the day. Once was on the receiving end of a mae geri that kicked me OVER the karatekas waiting for their match, and OUT of the ring. Judges didn't score him because it was an imperfect technique! It's sooo different these days

      @@dingo8babym20 The competition in Karate was made to show clean technic of martial art, but I think the balance between clean and effective technique is right way to do karate in the sport. Of course my logic is wrong, because we are all different and we looking for different goals. And You are right- karate is sooo different today

    This is the weak point of Karate they do not waive or roll with the punches or kick. They just parry or block that is why they can be hit on the face by a punch of which a western boxer can waive or roll against it. This is clear in O:31- 34 of the video clip.
