Well it's a "prosumer" camcorder designed primarily for run-n-gun work, what do you expect? I've got my collection of DSLRs but I'm seriously considering buying one of those.. Seems to be quite useful for jobs where you need immediacy and practical ergonomics. I'm primarily a video person and I'm getting seriously fed up with having to work with equipment which is not primarily designed for moving pictures but rather for still photography with a video record button tacked on. If anyone asked me for advice on what to buy for vlogging or travel videos, or even some more "raw" documentary work, I'd always suggest this first and then maybe a DSLR for second cam/ photo/ beauty shots and not vice versa.
Oh and btw, I thought you can independently set iris/exposure/iso on that thing... isn't that what the multi-function ring is for? That is a pretty big deal for me because I do plan to use it for professional work with heavy post-processing afterwards... And can you set picture preset to "flat" or equivalent? I've been trying to find that information out for some time...

Thanks for a helpful review. I just bought this camera and used it to shoot an opera performance on stage using mp4/1080/50m. There were a few times that the screen suddenly "changed" to something looked like monochrome in pinky/purple. When I viewed the video later, it started out fine and then changed to look like monochrome in pinky/purple. Do you have any idea what happened? Tks.

Hi Eddie. I have seen it happen yes. Changed my SD card and problem solved. I am using SanDisk Estreme PRO 95 MB/s 64 GB now. Hope it solves your problem Eddie. Thanks for your comment.

@@stephanferdinand Hi, Stephan: Tks for your reply. I am also using exactly the same SanDisk Extreme Pro 64GB 95MB/s. So, not likely to be the problem of the SD card. I just updated firmware to 1.1 but not sure if this will solve the problem. Since this affected several of the video clips that I took, I am afraid the camera is defective right out from the box. If you have any comment or suggestion. pls share with me. Appreciated!

@@utubertg I would still try another card just in case. My firmare version is 1.0 so that's not it. And yes you might have a faulty unit. My zoom ring is starting to feel sticky, like it does not turn butter smooth anymore. I guess the build quality of Panasonic is not that good. What gets me mad is that making the videos it a lot of effort and when they are faulty afterwards it's a boomer. It just happened once to me, though. Let me know how it goes with your warranty claim / repair please :) Good look.

    Porque no grabas en 4k?

Hola Akita. Gracias por la pregunta. Porque el 4K de esa cámara deja mucho que desear. Funciona realmente bien en 1080p60 únicamente. Incluso en 1080p24 no es tan buena. Por qué no sé pero así es.

Compared to a DSLR it's miles ahead. Compared to my professional Sony XDCAM it's miserable. So for the price I would say it's good. Just know that it works in good lighting only. The face detect is spot on, except if you get too close to the camera. That said, I never use manual focus :) so yea it must be good.
