- Throughout the Johnson administration, Lady Bird Johnson maintained a diary. When she had quiet time available, she would record her thoughts on a tape and later have the recordings transcribed. As you can see in the photo. she frequently saved clippings, programs, and bits of memorabilia in large envelopes filed by day; she used them to jog her memory when, several days later, she she was able to find the time to record memories of the day. After leaving office, she selected the most interesting days from the transcripts and published them in A White House Diary.
This recording is the entry for the day President Kennedy was shot, 11/22/63. It is the first day she recorded. This section is part 1 of 2.
She has a way with word's. Southern charm.
Mrs. Johnson was a very graceful writer. This is a dramatic and valuable document.
'A drift of pink blossoms." A beautiful poetic tragic description. What a fine sensibility Mrs Johnson had, it perfectly balanced the steamroller that was her husband. Ying & Yang. A good partnership.
That voice was priceless. What a wonderful, gracious lady. How in the world she put up with Lyndon, I do not know.

Lyndon was a funny and an interesting man.
It all began so beautifully.... A sad yet compelling beginning.
Two shots in rapid succession wow what a quick guy with a bolt action gun Oswald was well the Warren Commess missed that one.

One loud shot then two more shots in rapid succession....... hmmmm i guess LHO has grease on his trigger finger. but nothing to hear here folks only one shooter... lol yeah right.
