From a F to a C is incredible, then he needs to met with all the teachers and principals to share his ability to move his school forward in the right direction, it shows that he takes Pride in what he does.

Seriously parents you need to be a part of his speech, it’s not only the teachers that should be shamed, start teaching your child as soon as they are able to speak, who does want there child to succeed in life,to have a vast amount of education and to be knowledgeable in reading, mathematics, and other subjects before they even get to school. Yes, teachers have just lost their passion and motivation with teaching,it seems like the pandemic messed up so many minds, ppl have just given up on children in the home and at school. A C letter grade a 72 is unacceptable, ppl that are okay with this are definitely lazy or don’t care. Everyone can do better, parents and teachers. Great speech sir, they need to hear this!!!! Everyone should be ashamed that we are letting these children!!!!

There’s great teachers out there, but I agree if you don't want to teach the students are just not motivated and not in it there may be teachers who are willing to do the job, to step in, and have the passion for helping students. Some students don't have parents. You still have to teach them.Teachers are also dealing with a lot today like mental health of students, fighting, threats, bullying and there never seems to be enough funding. Some teachers may need ongoing support. More aides could be helpful in each class to help students who need more one on one. Teachers and parents working together will most definitely help for a better outcome. The teachers need to always communicate well with the parents. Good teachers deserve better pay because they are the ones who are with your child. Many are next to the parents! For some students, they see them as a very important person in their lives.

Amen! My child is grown now, but when she was in school, it would be so frustrating to see so few parents attending meetings, volunteering, etc. I had a full-time job, but supporting those kids and teachers was a priority. And coming from a family of teachers, yep, they do not get paid enough. Children spend more time with and are more influenced by teachers than virtually anyone else, yet, as a society, we tend to put a higher value on entertainment, technology, etc. Teaching will never be on the list of high paying jobs cuz, sadly, we'd rather buy PlayStations than pay higher taxes.

Mayor, I think you should visit the schools, go in and sit in the classrooms, kids and teachers would appreciate your presence there. A high absence from school will definitely bring there score down.

Woodfin should be accountable as well. Maybe, if he is a bad mayor, he should resign also.

In my opinion. He may have looked at data, yet so much more has to be considered. This was not a good address- in my opinion….
