Thank you for sharing your process and explaining the choices over and over again. It makes for great learning material. You have helped me make some paintings I really enjoyed.
i absolutely adore your paintings with all my heart. and not because i watch emmas videos. i aspire to have one of your paintings in my home one day. Seriously love every single one ive been looking at on studio local art. there literally isnt one i dont like. and being from california these all feel close to home.:) so talented and original. youre definitely one of my top 5 favorite artists of all time.
Brilliant job, sir!!! What a beautiful painting! So amazing! I love it. Great technique, colors, shapes and nice car! Enjoyed the process. These street scenes are so cool. Have a wonderful day! Greetings from the EU!
Awesome, again! I imagine you with your camera in the non painting hand or a go-pro on your body somehow. The sunlight in the paint mixes is so so captivating! Thank you.. likely joining patreon group soon. 😎💖
love your work. I've been a watercolor artist for many years. I stopped painting for about ten years. I am starting back up, this time in oil paint. you're videos are inspiring. help...
Hi Michael! Your painting is getter so wonderful as you increase the speed of your decisions and paint application. I love the spontaneity & vitality you are creating!
Also, what I noticed was the three-dimensional curve in the road right in the middle of the shot - you can see the two white sidewalk lines kind of curve away. I have a dream of doing this painting or one of your scenes - because you inspire me, - and try to do exactly what you did in my own style, of course but try to capture that three dimensionality of the crosswalk lines, pretty cool. thanks
listening to your thought process is so fascinating! It’s really cool how technical/mathematical it sounds. I don’t paint, but this makes me so interested!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and videos. As a new painter, I feel I learn something with everyone. As far as the liquin, when and why do you use it?
I use the Liquin to thin the paint. It allows me to apply thin, but strong layers of paint quickly when starting the painting. I use less as the painting progresses because I want the paint to be thicker. Hope that helps!
Michael wonderful paintings I love your style loose the colour harmony works well! your a fine teacher too do you use just only Windsor and Newton paints?
Hello Mr Chamberlain! Awesome work! May I ask a question, do you divide the information into important and unimportant when painting? Is it your key strategy? Because I hear you say "there's a lot of information"
Thanks! Yes, I try to determine what is most important to me about the scene and then develop the elements that support my idea. Hope that makes sense!
I know this is an older video but I keep meaning to ask you if you would share how you frame a panel in a floater frame so you can’t see underneath the panel? Thanks😊
Do you have a brush washer? Just squeeze out the excess paint with a paper towel or rag and then clean in a brush washer with odorless mineral spirits.
OK what might even be better than you cutting in the shot - which would be nice - but not necessary - is finding my iPad, taking a picture of that shot and…. Cheers.
Too many shots of the brush mixing colour perhaps. Quantum leap from the plein air outcome to the studio outcome. Would be good to see that journey also Michael. The 'magic' bit. 🙂
Thanks for the video. It would be wonderful if you would cut in that beginning shot every once in a while - the scene you’re painting. But it would be great if you would just reference that scene once in a while so we don’t have to keep rewinding and fast forwarding - it’s all about me you know. ❤😂🎉
I love the idea in your later comment! Taking a pic on your iPad or phone. Then you can refer to it whenever you like. I always include a pic of the scene before I begin.

It's my usual palette. I've listed it many times in my videos. It's also on my Patreon! Titanium white, yellow ochre, cad yellow medium, alizarin crimson, cad red light, burnt sienna (utrecht or winsor & newton), phthalo blue, ultramarine blue, dioxazine purple.

Thanks Dennis! Yes, I don't believe anyone is ever a "master". That's just marketing. There's always more to learn!
Michael, I think you're an artist-magician. Your "wand" wiggles with color on the canvas and out pops a car! Love it!
Thanks Barbara!
You've captured the essence of Kains and Cherry Avenues!
Thanks!!
Love your process of creating this painting!
Thank you Michael - I enjoyed the video very much. The painting has a great painterly feeling and looseness to it

Great painting. You took a bland, suburban scene and transformed the East Bay suburbs into a Tuscan village! :) Terrific re-visualization.
What a truly beautiful painting it is. Love the minimalistic style.

How do you mix paint with your brush? When I try that it just pushes the paint up the brush and I can never get it out again :/
