they have an almost haunting and mysterious undertone to a lot of their bsides so i'm glad that they are able to experiment a little but still have a signature and consistent sound. also the fact that you clocked ice queen as that song like 20 seconds in was hilarious because it is. that song makes me feel like a bad bitch. i'm not even a DIVE, but this is my favorite release this year so far. every song was well produced and suited them each so well. whoever did the A&R for this album deserves a raise. the cohesion and selection of songs was seriously top tier. also ascendio (idk how to spell lol) is getting a music video as well so im definitely looking forward to that.

I agree with you, I'm tired of 2 min songs. I want more 3 min songs to get an experience. And the crazy thing about it, IVE doesn’t have a in-house production team at Starship. Hybe has a in-house production team for each label excluding ADOR so their music is exclusive to these music producers that won't be working with other companies or labels outside of Hybe. So that sound will be associated with Hybe. One thing I respect with an idol group is when they show their talent through other things than vocals. You can have average vocals but a talent for lyrics or choreography or music production. Sky is the limit in Kpop. IVE has Liz for the vocals. That's their strength link in the vocal department. Yujin sounds good in the studio but she is not stable with live vocals as I have noticed from their world tour. Only Liz is stable. Gaeul and Rei always write the rap lines and Wonyoung who is called tone deaf by haters write her own lyrics. You are not tone deaf if you can write lyrics. Yujin has not written new lyrics since Heroine from their studio album. IVE got this secret receipt where Liz is main vocalist, Wonyoung is lead vocalist, Yujin is vocalist and main dancer, Rei is main rapper and sub vocalist, Gaeul and Leeseo are rappers and sub vocalists. Official positions in girl groups is very rare nowadays because companies want them to be allrounders like boy groups which is not a good thing. It's very messy. In addition to official positions you have Wonyoung who writes her own songs and Rei and Gaeul who gives those addictive rap lines in IVE's songs that is the signature of their worldview in my opinion. IVE's colors. Blue Heart was written by Wonyoung. It's very uncommon to see idol groups write their own songs for a 5-6 tracks EP. I can only think of Jihyu in TWICE who did that. Studio album is more free will from members but EPs are normally restricted from companies.
This album like experimental sound for IVE. They try a lot of sound concept and they wil choose what sound they will bring in next fantastic comeback....
Ice Queen sounds like if Mya, Brandy, Aaliyah, BANKS and Ciara all jumped on song together. Like Liz sounds just like BANKS on the bridge, it’s insane. It’s way past the K-POP genre. So good.
