I'm so fulfilled with this video! Thank you for including fauna from the Philippines! I'm so happy that you are more informed than many filipinoes with our fauna. I hope planet zoo will be able to recognize and maybe listem to all your videos! ❤
As probably a lot of you now the following animals were leaked a couple weeks ago: gray seal, giant otter, king pengiun, and sun bear were leaked. The seal, penguin, and otter were just announced leaving the sun bear left. Therefore I believe a Southeast Asia pack could be in the future or just an all around Asian pack. If a Southeast Asian pack was released I believe the following animals would be included: Habitat: Sun Bear Clouded Leopard Binturong Gibbon Exhibit: King Cobra These animals are common in captivity (which seems to be a common previous packs), well known, and would just fit in the game really well! Tell me what you think!
Interestingly enough, some of species mentioned here that are said to be uncommon in zoos have rather strong representation in Asian collections, both established zoos as well as in private collections, e.g Dholes, Red-shanked Douc, Tamaraw, Maleo (a few bird parks in the region as well as "roadside" zoos in the region display them from time to time.) Although I do appreciate the effort taken to compile data about species that have/have not been exhibited in other zoos, as a zookeeper myself I am not aware of some of these animals being kept outside of South-east Asia. Personally, I would love to see Hornbills being a bird species that are represented in the game. An iconic bird found across South-east Asia, most of them are at high risk as they depend upon mature, hollowed out trees for raising their young, and several species are kept worldwide (Rhinoceros, Great Indian, Bar-pouched, etc). Other notable species I would love to see include: Malayan Colugo - Notoriously difficult to keep in captivity, although plenty have tried nonetheless. Interestingly enough, one of the best places to spot them in the world happen to be at the Singapore Zoo/Night Safari, where these animals have been released into the parks to boost their numbers and make their presence known to zoo-goers. Oriental Small-clawed Otter - A highly charismatic species shown in zoos all over the world, I am surprised that Planet Zoo hadn't included them (or any other otters for that matter) in the first place! Hog Badger - These are such a unique animal and they are very popular in Asian zoos. The largest badger species in the world, they are typically hunted for bushmeat or to be sold as an exotic pet, hence why many Asian zoos end up with them as they can be said to be quite heavily collected. Giant Flying Squirrels - Not sure if there are any rodents in the game but these would be a worthwhile addition. Not many zoos in the world have them, and they are usually found in Chinese zoos where they have been rescued from markets there. Though I am not sure if Frontier will be willing to add something that looks like a Red Panda (see Petaurista alborufus), but with a patagium. River Shark (Glyphis spp.) - Admittedly this is a very unusual request, but surprisingly enough, they can be found in the homes of the very wealthy Thai and Indonesian freshwater hobbyists. They are still very poorly understood, and habitat degradation as well as hunting them and collection for the regional ornamental aquarium trade pose huge threats to these animals.
Actually the Dutch primate zoo Apenheul in Apeldoorn kept Proboscis Monkeys from 2012 to 2015. It was very short since a couple of them died due to their diets. The last living ones were brought back to Asia
As an animal enthusiast and (hopefully) future zoologist from Indonesia, this episode is one I've been waiting from a long time. Really glad that you include more obsecure wildlifes from Indonesia, but still there are many animals you didn't include in this videos, like the Sumatran Striped Rabbit, or the Banteng which is an endangered species of Bovid, or the Pig tailed langur, a species of leaf monkey endemic to Sumatra, which myself i would include as the alternative to Siamang instead of agile gibbon, or the Colugo which I'm surprised that you didn't include, seeing that it's a very unique animal and endemic to Southeast Asia, i guess mechanically it's implausible because including colugo means creating unique model and animation rig in order to implement its unique movement style. Anyhow, love this video, i can't wait for the next episode.
Hi, thank you for your comment. Many animals you listed I also came across in my research but for many reasons decided not to include. Colugo for instance was very heavy on my mind but I've decided to forgo any bats/flying foxes/gliders and related animals for the same reason I have not included aviary birds: they require certain mechanics first. I did not find any evidence of pig-tailed langur or sumatran striped rabbit in any zoo, unfortunately, one of my major conditions (to keep in realism as a zoo game) is the animal should have some captive history. Also there are many more buffalo/bovine species such as Banteng, Kouprey, Carabao but they are too similar to cows and can be exchanged for the general Wild Water Buffalo which is a better representor of the niche. Hope you can understand some of my reasoning.
@@ReviewGen Oh of course man, i wasn't trying to offend you or anything, just wanted you to know that i love this series as it's a fantastic way of bringing obsecure wildlife rarely discussed in mainstream media.
Some of my personal honorable mentions for ya' : Banteng, Fishing Cat, New Guinea Crocodile, Long Beaked Echidna, Crowned Pigeon, Malaysian Tiger, Giant Yangtze Softshell Turtle (Rediscovered in Vietnam), And the Crab Eating Macaque
Also you should do an Antarctica video next, as 1. 0 animals currently in the game are from Antarctica, 2. Antarctica was name dropped in the biome area and 3. It would be a very easy video to do with the Emperor Penguin and whatever else
If they are going to force the Green Anaconda and Reticulated Python into being exhibit animals then I really think that we need to get different sizes of exhibits in the game. The current ones are already ridiculously large for a lot of the animals they hold and are a little on the small side for even the Yellow Anaconda and Boa Constrictor who have been shrunk down just to fit in them.
I am impressed by the research that goes into your videos. Can you post some references for the numbers you quote (e.g. the number of zoos exhibiting a specific species worldwide)? While european zoos make this information public I have been unable to find a consolidated resource for the rest of the world.
Honestly i believe this DLC will be called the Island DLC and will have: - Binturong - Malayan Tapir - Sun Bear - Clouded Leopard - Barbirusa - White Cheeked Gibbon Would be cool to get this one before the australian DLC.
1. Was the golden cheek gibbon on your list as i think it would be a perfect pick for the game. 2. Could you do a monkey world pack as it could be an addition to the game if a lot of other primates and apes that would make good additions to the game. 3. Could you do another video for random pack ideas that aren't based on any area of the world?
I would love to see you play and upload some more Ruse, if you have problems getting full lobbies just join my discord server as I’m building a Ruse group up.
Ya. In planet zoo we have 2 species of elephant. So it won’t be a big deal to add a re skinned Baird’s tapir with different a welfare and other things.
I hate to be that guy and it's really just me being nitpicky, but the picture you showed of the marbled cat is actually a domestic breed called a Bengal. Also the picture of the bay cat is just an angry mountain lion.
These were my source pictures: Marbled Cat: www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/marble-cat-walking-outdoors-309307544 Bay Cat: www.thetravel.com/20-unusual-animals-we-can-find-in-the-jungles-of-borneo/ It seems in both instances they were labelled erroneously by their respective authors. On a second look, the marbled cat does resemble a domestic cat breed and the second is indeed a mislabelled cougar.
