42:40 "Dropping" LOLOLOL. That's a C47 not a B17. having to use stock footage is one thing but ........ As many times as Ive watched this episode over the years I never caught this before. I feeel "skunked". LOL . Love this series.
I'm surprised Col Wexler didn't think the "next stop is Willoughby" during one of his flashbacks. He was the guy in that Twilight Zone episode about "next stop Willoughby".
Believe it or not, that exploding Fortress is not from WWII, although they use the scene quite a bit, and Yep, it's both impressive and very sad. That particular Fortress is flying on remote control and gets hit by a Nike missile in 1954 as part of a test conducted by the Army. Thank heavens the Krauts had no Nikes!
What I'am a amazed is seeing upcoming movie stars that are on these espiodes . Great TV series. Never seen it when I was a kid. Too bad Robert ansin diidn;t stay though he was good in the first season.
It is amazing how almost every episode they are attacked by ME109s, and/ or FW190s and when they have a closeup of them firing they turn into P47s or P51s. It is really obvious with the four staggered fifties on the wing of the 47s.
Yes, he was my representative in California. He was known as "B-1 Bob Dornan" for his advocacy for military spending. He also had a radio talk show on KABC Los Angeles and KGO San Francisco. He was a conservative Republican and ardently pro-American, and anti-Communist. He loved the Air Force.
High or low relative to the plane, the clock goes from 12 O clock in front of the nose and around the airplane, so 6 being tail rear, 8 is just between 3 and 9, its not a depth system, that's why you say low, high, level
Amazing that they let him get into a pilot's seat, considering he was either wounded or lost his plane on almost every flight. Part of the lost realism in season 2.
42:40 really? Nothing better than a C47 could be found in all the war achieves? That show became a soap opera after season 1.. and so much lazyness in the clips concearning accuracy.. I like the storys, its what keeps me, but as a professional Pilot and airplane enthusiast its just so cringeworthy when the brain is not in OFF mode concearning logic, aerodynamics and even simple airplane recognition...I bet it is and was not thaaat hard to get at least another 4 engined heavy that drops something on the parachute, even if its a british bomber that has paratroopers in the back..thats just lazy.
Only 3 networks and a field of upcoming AAA talent made TV a watchable experience. The convenience of easy, cheap technology and unlimited outlets give us the current dross: everybody an actor, the "reality" of commercial saturation and its advertising glut of < 65 percent content (so, horrible editing), mediocre writing, few episodes in a season, etc. Always better the umpteenth time around.

I remember James Daly from Medical Center. It was another wonderful series with Chad Everett.
Happy Anniversary ....I can't believe it's been 50 years since episode #1.
+GIOVANNI1955C I'm old enough to remember the days when comments like yours would Never get a positive responce in a public forum.
Well this is You Tube bubb!!
not the channel for smut like that
Alright, you mean we're not supposed to like getting our privates taken care of? Sorry, I do like watching old stuff!
The one thing I really like about the switch to Paul Burke is the enlarged role of Chris Robinson. He is really good!
Chris Robison rocks
Yes!
Agreed
Yah he has character quality that both matches and reminds you of " _COMBAT!_ "
He was good until he was convicted of tax evasion in the 80s.

Strange…this edition left me feeling sorry. It ended well…thankfully. I didn’t want him to die. Such capable writing and directing!

All of the women guest stars on this show are beautiful, sophisticated, and with class.

a great show,i love it!
Great show.
James Daly is the Father of actors Tyne Daly and Tim Daly. He also appeared on an episode of “Star Trek”, as the oldest man.
I see some of his face in Tim, not in Tyne.
Micah Brack Requiem for Methuselah
There are quite a few Trek "alums" even some of the background music is Trek reminiscent.
One of the better 2nd season episodes
great show
Doesn't matter how many times you see a scene of an exploding B17 in flight, it is still a sad sight.
Ronald VAN TOL )

Correct
This episode becomes a Soap opera in the middle.
As have most of the season 2 episodes.
Love is a burning thing....
Judy Carne from Laugh In .....
Judy Carnes. What a babe.
Reminds me of John Wayne smacking Robert stack...got flat spots on the tires....rattle graph too high...
Nice 3/27/24
Has anyone ever noticed that Paul Burke (the colonel ) doesn't really look at people he's speaking with ? Curious.
Well, the French woman in the previous episode noticed it.
great stuf
Robert Dornan who played Paul Burke’ score pilot became a US Congressman from California
Still wish they never took out Lansing
Zeitgeist only gave us one special season here but we're lucky to have it.
How they turned a B17 into a C47 I will never know.
Did they ever put 20 mike mikes on the B-17 in the place of the 50 cals?
Was played around with I think for chin turret, tail gunner some, but revamped for B-29s
Damn thatThunderbolt! This time it almost took the Col's leg off!
31:22 deviating from the flight plan
3:30 OPENING THEME
45:33 CLOSING THEME
8 O'Clock High ?
Wouldn't 8 O'Clock be Low ?
High or low relative to the plane, the clock goes from 12 O clock in front of the nose and around the airplane, so 6 being tail rear, 8 is just between 3 and 9, its not a depth system, that's why you say low, high, level
Does the colonel get hit nearly every time he flies?
Amazing that they let him get into a pilot's seat, considering he was either wounded or lost his plane on almost every flight. Part of the lost realism in season 2.
No, but it seems like it.
no blue eyes on his girl

They could have just used the footage of the parachutes. They didn't expect teh audience to catch that 2-engined goony bird?
Hi Pappy. Cigarette?
With pilots like the ole' Col., how could we have won?
Because they had something most people today didn't have, BALLS of steal.

Weak episode.
another stupid episode. absolutely zero mission discipline.
Not stupid at all!
