Fabulous performance of one of his greatest songs from possibly his best ever albums: Station To Station. As a musician, if you cannot play your best when on stage with the master who are you going to do it for? It was a fantastic ensemble performance!

Isn’t it wild that we STILL do a search for that 1 DB song/performance we’ve just gotta hear , me the day after you ? IDK , maybe not. I miss having him on the planet.

Bowie always had the best bands. The two guitarists traded off solos. His live performances were epoch! Also, I appreciate that you don't interrupt the numbers you're reviewing, unlike most reactors. That shows respect for the artist. rock on, man!

The man was a musical genius.

Camera kept focusing on the (albeit good) guitarists while Gail Ann Dorsey’s bass on this is a delight .

Love this performance! I caught this STS show in Detroit in 1976. Earl Slick and this band really does this justice.

The great Earl Slick! For my money the best of David's guitarists.

I can feel myself driving my black Trans Am with t-tops on the interstate to work blasting this song so many times and I think my foot would tend to get heavy on the gas pedal. The music, the guitar, the bass, the drums everything just pulled me in and still does every time I listen to this song. As far as more Bowie there are a couple that I really want to see you react to. One of them is called "Right" off of The Young American album and the other one is called "The Hearts filthy Lesson "and there's a live version if you haven't already done either one of those. I try to catch all your Bowie reactions and I don't think that you've done those.Rock On Pope!

Pope did The Heart’s Filthy Lesson two years ago. It is the best and most sinister version ❤❤

Did you see how much he was enjoying being in the midst of all this. It was where he belonged and he got better at it as he got older.
It helps when you have Gail Ann Dorsey on bass, Earl Slick melting his guitar and Sterling Campbell pounding those drums. Bowie always brought the best together with him.

Nice one and you are so right about the aura he has, I'm sure it inspires the other performers. For an early epic from Bowie, try 'Cygnet Committee' from the Space Oddity album. Cheers.

Great performance all around. Earl Slick on lead guitar, yeah !. Copyright permitting Pope, check out Bowie's version of a Jacques Brel song called, "My Death", featured on the live concert film, "Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture". Just David and an acoustic guitar and a fantastic performance. Hope you're doing well Pope.

The whole BBC 2000 concert is amazing, the band are on top of their game and enjoying it and the 2 backing singers are fantastic...''Cracked Actor'' from the same concert is well worth a listen, I've had it on a loop so many times and it gets better and better.

In 1976, Bowie appeared on US daytime tv, on "Dinah" where he did "Stay" for the very first time. A lot of the same guys as in this performance. A young Bowie was dancing his azz off. Its here on youtube too.

Brilliant performance and brilliant band, but honestly he always surrounded himself with the absolute best musicians. If you haven't done so, I recommend checking out his collabs with Nine Inch Nails and Arcade Fire. Musically speaking, wasn't he just the most heavenly Renaissance Man?

David Live Philadelphia. IMHO he does the best version of Rock n Roll Suicide. It seems that every video of him doing that song is different. Did enjoy your reaction to the Tokyo edition. 🖖🍻

That's a good album. From the Tower Theater in Philly. Evidently he was over the bend on the powder but that rendition of "Sweet Thing/Candidate/Reprise" is nails.

I look forward to reading in particular your Bowie reviews, especially his efforts at R&B...Have you also tried these sources: [Luther Vandross and David both on Dick Cavett talk-show video...and Bowie did Soul Train in 1976. Clip still available] ...Also Carlos Alomar funk on Secret Life of Arabia (Heroes album). … Sample his Let’s Dance album produced by Chic’s Nile Rogers (and it’s all good!). Also Black Tie, White Noise with Al B. Sure.…Tonight with Tina Turner (also with him in one of her concert videos)... Knock on Wood (David Live, 1975). “1984” (from Diamond Dogs album. Sounds like “Shaft.” Recorded by Bowie, later by Tina Turner) By the way, tenor saxophonist David Sanborne (the Young Americans album) died in May 2024. A huge loss.

The lead guitarist here (red guitar), Earl Slick, was the lead guitarist on "StationToStation," the 1976 album this is from. He also played on the supporting tour and replaced Stevie Ray Vaughan for the 1983 Serious Moonlight Tour.
Mike Garson - keyboards. First worked with David in 1972 for the Ziggy Tours.
    Sterling Campbell - drums
    GAIL ANN DORSEY - bass
These four were essentially his core band from the late '90s until the end.

    Yo this is a
    " Reaction" channel
So why are you reacting to Bowie’s Stay from the 2000’s
And not the 1978 live version with a much younger Bowie at the height of his powers
With a elite backing band featuring the new young gun guitar God Adrian Belew ripping the 💩 out of his guitar solo and the rest of the band throwing down the FUNK so hard Funkadelic would feel challenged following them on stage
But instead whom ever suggested it comes with this which isn’t bad but in no way matches the 78 performance
In fact it pales in comparison
    Total disappointment!!!!👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽
