In a grid down event, I believe things will get out of control within the first 24 hours when all realize that the power is not coming back on. I am presently working on a plan to escape the city as soon as an event occurs. Besides a small bug out bag, I have stashed supplies in several locations throughout the city. Part of my stash includes free bicycles that have been given to me. Bikes and supplies are inspected each month and are ready to go in the event of a major crisis. I live 30 miles from the city so walking this distance could take valuable time and could cost me my life. My suburban home is my bug out location and I plan to get there before everything hits the fan. Video was very helpful. Thanks for all the good information you provide.
I didn't care for the taste of the emergency food bars so I added a couple restaurant packets of honey to my food sack. Dribble some honey on the food bar makes it taste pretty good. The honey is also great to add to instant oatmeal and for wound care.
With a thirty mile distance between the city where I work and the town I live in, I believe a bicycle in the early hours of shtf can provide four times the distance per hour than walking. I have pedled through the downtown area of Charlotte in 10 minutes and can go around it in thirty minutes. From downtown to the outer beltway (16 miles) can take two hours by bike or ten hours on foot. So a forty mile (extra miles added for going around sketchy areas) get home with little resistance could be done in five hours. Sure it's more exposure with the trade off being one fifth the time spent 'exposed' in a declining social climate. After the first hours the bike will change from asset to liability so be ready to let it go and walk. Most anyone with a five mile commute can pedal home in thirty minutes. Short enough that minimal equipment (besides a bike) is needed.
I just found this channel the info in your videos is just simply amazing. Living here on the gulf coast we don't normally pay close attention to hurricanes but living through Katrina changed that for me. needless to say i have become more survival minded over the years. I have read books and pieced together a survival bag from what i read and people i have talked to at pepper shows. Being a single female i am always looking for tips and your videos have taught me so much. Thank you!
Just a question, you say to use alleys and less traveled streets to get out which makes some sense to me except that no one is around and chances are higher I would think of a criminal opportunity, especially in a grid down situation. Wouldn't it be better to take the bigger roads because more people are around so it would be easier to move faster, blend in, and less likely for someone to focus on just you? I know the risk is there with riots and gangs, but the chaos could be a good cover right?
People need to stop talking about this grid down nonsense... I've got friends working for UNHCR and the Red Cross who have stated over and over that even in the most fucked up parts of Africa where there's civil wars going on, people still have the same (or similar) access to the power grid and cellphone coverage.. I also have two high school mates who are now living over in Western Australia serving in the SAS who have stated that these bugout bag videos are a laugh, because when the shit really hits the fan, all you really, really, REALLY end up caring about is a good night's sleep, a change of socks and underwear (especially socks, they say), water and calories..
Funkteon uh your friends are morons then. Australia and England (assuming they’re from England if they’re SAS) both hate firearms or believe in self defense or standing up for yourself so it makes sense that they’d tell you that. Carrying at least a pistol with a few spare mags and some food/water, and a couple changes of socks/underwear/any other clothes you think you’d want is a great plan. Anyone that tells you you don’t need those items is a idiot. Ask any military veteran (myself included) in AMERICA and they’ll tell you the same thing I am. “It’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.”
@@titan_six The only reason you need a pistol and a bunch of mags is because you're in MURICA, and every second geezer is armed in the USA.. The basis behind my mate's advice was that this grid-down scenario is just not plausible anymore, as we're now living in an age where these power stations and telco networks almost run themselves, in contrast to the situation a few decades ago whereby the infrastructure required thousands of people on deck to manage it.. The reason these systems will be maintained at all costs is simple: because even the people of the highest powers have come to require those systems as much as we have.. The best way to bugout is in your home. Living on the streets is dangerous. Reinforce your door, windows and keep fire extinguishers and other emergencies. Form a home defense group with your neighborhood. Individual defense wont last long. Community home defense force is a proven effective and will last longer and results are better . Reinforce around your house with sandbags and chest high barricades with firing ports. Stockpile ammo and food and water. Going on the streets is the last thing you do. I don’t live in a city. And there are good tips here. But I see this whole SHTF thing as two phases of bugging out. First, seeing the signs before the masses. This will give a person bugging out a window to get out of town. At this point, most others haven’t considered the depth. Being a grey man is key here. But more importantly, making the decision to leave and being ready to go. It’s easier to come back if it’s a false alarm. The second phase is after a bug in plan. This will require most more security in movement. Choke points will be an issue. Those left with strength in numbers will gain these strategic places. Bugging out to a location outside of these choke points might be the first best move. (Get over that one bridge, the one highway, or the one town.) Other situation that isn’t a phase but is worth noting is mass chaos. If this is the case, good luck. It will be survival of the fittest or luck.
Samurai used dry rice on hardwood to alert them of Intruders...ninja would lay down a sash or cloth over the entry to counter this and while on an op that sash would be used to pull the rug out from under anyone entering and over the head to distract an enemy while stabbing through cloth for the kill. Also in the dark they would pull their sheath to the end of their sword, sheath outward to detect surroundings and if someone grabbed sheath off the sword simply thrust forward for the kill....also while in shtf.... position a knife in paper bag as if its bottle of alcohol or in a glove finger so your weapon is ready....love the channel Jack....I'm the "Ninjaneering" fan aka Frank Castle, aka rusty shackleford, aka Yusie Noman the grayman...

Really enjoy your videos and this was a great video! One point I would have made (being an LEO) is that IF you ever had to use a weapon disarmament technique involving a firearm, that you need to be prepared for that weapon to discharge during the technique. And if that weapon does discharge hand placement on the firearm is critical. You can induce a malfunction if it does happen and this can be used in your favor. Especially if you're technique fails as far as retrieving the weapon is concerned.
The one thing people always get wrong about blending in is stereotypes sometimes work to your advantage and blending in requires knowledge of your surroundings. 1. Stereotypes: I spent almost a decade as a Federal Agent and prior to I was a security contractor. For me in large cities I make sure I look like every other Black guy in the city. Fashionable shows, fresh hair cut, and decent clothing. Not wearing a plaid shirt or 5.11 tactical pants. Things that scream COP. Same thing applies if I were White... In order to be the Gray Man, I have to look like everyone else around me. 2. Knowing Your Area: If you're in the South (US) wearing camo is perfectly fine, in a major city you would look like a potential mass shooter or super sketchy (like this guy in the vid). If you're in a place like Denver where everyone wears plaid then wear plaid. If people dress in beach attire wear beach attire. Never forget the objective is to blend in. *Lastly at this point in time everyone has seen the shows about preppers. When SHTF and it's time to bug out the guy I would want to rob is the one with the military/tactical style bag and clothing. I know he's got a lot of goody's in that bag. Get yourself a nice bag but avoid the tactical look and earth colors. You're putting a target on your back to those that know what they're looking for.
this is one of the most interesting videos I have seen it's good that you have taken time to demonstrate a scenario that could quite easily happen. good work keep them coming.
Very good video well ..... actually great very informative love your channel you are one of the channels that got me into bug out and survival . Thanks for the video . Regards Outdoors Boy.
Anyone who rides the metro/subway could look if their silcock key fits the doors down on the cars. I carry one that does daily, saw the victims of the recent terrorist attack in St Petersburg, Russia banging on the doors trying to get out.
Have subscribed, some very good info. When I go into the city, in my case Manchester, England. I always take a small GHB (not my EDC, which I carry locally). It has a fold out map of Manchester, the same as hung on the wall in local Taxi Office's, which is 25 miles all around the city centre also a small fold out map that was given out by the local Tourist Information office with better detail as that shows back alleys, etc. I always know my bug out route depending what side of the city I am on, to known locations of safety for example if I am on the East side of the city centre. I will head for the canal that runs between Manchester and Yorkshire (another country area/state) as it will take me directly home 12 miles away and there is no way it would be patrolled by the authorities, etc. as it is just a waterway for canal (pleasure) boats and there is out of the way shelter en-route, with small buildings along the canal that provide fresh water, shower, toilet, etc for boat owners using the canal. I have a key to open them as they are a standard key. If you don't know what they are, you would ignore them as they are not marked as such. We are restricted in the UK as we are only allowed a knife (non-locking) with a blade longer no than 3 inches, some multi tools could well be illegal here because of the knife length, also no firearms at all carried in public, only the Police and criminals get those, and the criminals don't care about the law anyway. So a can of deodorant and a lighter can come in handy instead as a flame thrower, or of course deodorant in the face works as well as mace (which is also illegal in the UK) both of which are perfectly legal to carry, so I carry both in separate jacket pockets. So we in the UK have to adapt a little as even lock picks are illegal to carry unless you are a Locksmith by trade or similar like auto rescue, as that is going equipped for Burglary if caught with them.
Having lived in urban areas of Northern UK known for violent night time riots, I would never be in an alley, near any pubs, or waiting for public transport after dark. If I couldn't get out of the urban area before dark, I headed to the roof of a building or hospital waiting area.
I've got to remember that next time I'm trying to make sure I see if anyone's coming towards me I can put out a bunch of chip bags so I can hear them when they step on the crunch

+Matt Gonz0 glad to hear that. Thanks brother.
Excellent, thank you, great series.
really like the video. i still watch your DVD. i find videos like these are really good. cause its the small things you can forget. and watching the videos helps to point out things. keep it up
Fantastic series! Looking forward to seeing more many thanks!
Great series.
Great series. I never thought of roof tops. Good idea.
+Swaggercat thank you💪👊
Excellent content!!wouldnt expected anything less!! Happy thanksgiving!! Looking forward to the other parts!! Semper -Fi..
Great video jack.
+Living Survival thank you sir
I'm fat enough to live off my own juices for 6 months.
So, I'll hide in a maintenance closet until the fires go out.
Fatten up.
this is one of the most interesting videos I have seen it's good that you have taken time to demonstrate a scenario that could quite easily happen. good work keep them coming.
+the thinker thanks boss
I do HVAC and MOST of the time those water hose bibs are shut off from inside the building. Don't count on getting water from them.
His face when he ate the bar🤣🤣🤣🤣 bro get some good food in yo pack🤣🤣🤣
My first thought was...Snickers would have been a better choice.
@@saginawdan 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is the first video of yours I watched.
It also led me to lock picking. Grey man. And others.. I’m getting that DVD and another pick set. I lost mine after about a week from getting it.
Great video!!! Love the fictional format for training purposes!
Another great video and great format, really enjoyed watching 👍🏻.
Thx.
For remindin of that water key.
Excellent video and very worthwhile project. I’m wondering, Jack, what happened to the piece you normally carry?! 😆
Good info and format!! Looking forward to episode II!
Great video, like the storyline/scenario. Its a really unique way to do it. Can't hardly wait for the next segment.

Outdoors Boy.
Looking forward to the series.
Love this series idea! Very nice!
Anyone who rides the metro/subway could look if their silcock key fits the doors down on the cars. I carry one that does daily, saw the victims of the recent terrorist attack in St Petersburg, Russia banging on the doors trying to get out.
I have been looking forward to this series since you announced it. Great first episode and I can’t wait to see what is soon to come. Thanks
Enjoyed the format and content of this video. Looking forward to part two.
+Daniel Gonzalez thanks Daniel 👍

Really well done! Extremely informative. Thanks!
Trash cans get set on fire during riots. The roof/ fire escape seems like a good idea though.
Until they set that building on fire...LOL
Great video, looking forward to next one in series.
Pretty cool 👍👍👍👍👍
I personally like all your videos
Good stuff Jack....And Thank you for your Service.
+Dale James thanks Dale!!
Would you stock your car w/ BOTH a get-home bag and a survival chest(food, tools, water, blanket) ? Space concern.
I liked this vid very much. It was as good as (and in some cases better than) some professionally produced shows on the topic. Excellent work!
I love this .. keep this going I could binge watch these
Having lived in urban areas of Northern UK known for violent night time riots, I would never be in an alley, near any pubs, or waiting for public transport after dark. If I couldn't get out of the urban area before dark, I headed to the roof of a building or hospital waiting area.
Great instruction thank you very much
Interesting. Nice takeaway maneuver with the gun.
I love this. Please keep it going
I've got to remember that next time I'm trying to make sure I see if anyone's coming towards me I can put out a bunch of chip bags so I can hear them when they step on the crunch
I dig it man! These type scenario videos are awesome!
That solar panel might as well be a target that says loot drop.
thx so much dvldg. Im standgby for orders from higher. U R my new her hdqrs MARDIV. We all got eyes on fro Oregon to Utah, CO, all the way to east coast....awaiting orders and ready to defend Constitution and FREEDOM. SEMPER FI.

That's a Krav Maga disarm move.
Was 1 of many I 1st learned in pistol disarmaments.
Nice video and tips, Teufel Hunden, can't wait for part two. Semper Fi.
Don't forget your P-38 can opener!
Just what I needed to review for my Urban Job.My Two Cents. SOOOO glad you stressed having a change of clothes available. Sillcock keys are less than $10 at Lowes (for the American Viewers). Also, if you wear Eyeglasses like I do, have a Spare pair in your GHB. And Gloves. Since I work in an Industrial Park on the edge of one of the Highest Crime Precincts in the city of Cleveland, Ohio, trust me, DO NOT TRY TO SHELTER UNDER THE BRIDGES! And if anyone thinks this Series is a Fantasy, just google "L A Riots, Reginald Denny" and look at the old News Videos of what happened to that poor Truck Driver. Looking forward to the rest of the series Jack.
Leslie Kovacs thanks for the lowes tip, in marital law or civil unrest if you wear contacts you should change to glasses OC spay can melt contacts to your eye.
You actually have a black guy playing the bad guy🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂
Best video you've done in a long time.
Thank you.
I appreciate all you do!
Great video! 👍
