LECCO - Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Victory

The Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of Victory was erected in memory of those who fell during the Great War. The church, in neo-Romanesque style, was completed in 1932. At the top of the bell tower is a three-meter iron cross, inside which the precious relic of the True Cross is kept, enclosed in a copper casket surrounded by four lists of parchments signed by numerous citizens of Lecco. Every evening, at seven, the bell is rung, in memory of the fallen of the First World War. Although the vaults are devoid of frescoes and the apse is almost completely bare, the sanctuary is richly decorated with artistic works, located on the walls of the side chapels, and frescoes.
