    This program brings back so many Boomer memories! I used to watch this show with my late WWII vet father, great memories. RIP Pop. I miss you.

      Same here. I started watching it around mid 1960 when I was not quite 6 (I preferred adult shows such as this or Sky King or westerns over kid stuff even then)

      My father was a WW2 vet also but we didn't watch this particular show together. I wasn't born until 1964!! But we watched shows like Sanford and son, kojak, streets of San Francisco, mannix, Rockford files, and star trek together,.to name a few. And we called him "Pop" too!! He died in 2017. Now the theme songs to these shows invoke a melancholy feeling in me every time I hear them . 🙏

    The title “Plant Robbery” is a misnomer as it should have been called “Supermarket Robbery”. There was another HWP episode that took place at the same Shermart shopping center and which also involved an armored car payroll theft that I liked a lot better than this one. This particular episode no doubt was lifted from a 1952 film noir called Kansas City Confidential that involved an armored truck switch and helps to explain its noirish elements. Just think, if that so called “mechanic” had a little bit more brains he would have repainted that truck right away and then quickly sold it in some far away town as then he would not only have had some money on hand but would not have had to worry about Dan Matthews and Company when they came snooping by his place of business. But he didn’t. So maybe he deserved to die for being so stupid!

    Why are the CHP working on a Robbery? My mom was a CHP matron in the 70's and when I went to the Academy 36 years ago in Central California we all knew a lot of CHP officers. The "Highway Patrol" do not work on robberies, homicides or any kind of fraud or vice, even narcotics. The CHP keep our roads safe (as they can) and work on auto related crimes and some Insurance Fraud if it relates to Automobiles or Trucking. I love these old shows but the CHP should focus on what the real CHP do. It bugs me to see our 'Road Rangers' working general crimes. I've been in Law Enforcement for over 3 decades and if it doesn't have wheels the CHP don't touch it. Maybe the Armored Truck got their attention? Doesn't make sense...

    • @grizzlycountry1030
      @grizzlycountry1030 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      He did most of his own stunts, and with shows being shot every two/or three days, it didn't leave a lot of time for recovery. It was reported (in April 1957) that in an episode where he jumped from a bulldozer into a deep ditch he hurt his back and was required to wear a back brace for almost 4 months. The producer of the show is quoted (also from April 1957) as saying that he was amazed at how tough Brod was at filming 15 shows in a 30 day span.

    So many questions with this one. The shop owner would have had all the evidence thrown out for sure for the illegal entry.
    Why would they assume the armored truck was created so quickly?
    How did the laboratory process the evidence faster than they can do it today?
    And lastly, the man was shot in the middle of the roof, then fell over the edge all the while holding on to the briefcase. That is not how the human body works.

    This show didn't care much about peoples Constitutional rights. Every episode the cops do something that even I know would get the whole case tossed. _Kicking in body shop doors without a warrant?_ Other than that these are actually good entertainment!

    Interesting. In this episode, Crawford seems to have had a wound on his forehead on his right side. I am surprised they didn't cover it up with makeup.

    guess Broderick was a "real"man and didn't believe in makeup nonethe less, he fell down drunk and had a boo-boo on his forehead!

    • @andytaylor5476
      @andytaylor5476 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Luffaman I don't know for sure what his condition was the day this was filmed but accounts of him being drunk and wasted on movie and tv sets make it clear he had a severe substance abuse problem. There are many other episodes on this show where he has bruises on head . A good makeup job would have made them invisible.
