Easter eggs and other oddities! -Color TV-Game 6 finally gets a proper name. This always bugged me about the original. -Since this song is long and challenging, I used art from a lot of my past projects. Gamemaster Classified's timeline, the dancing Pokemon characters (originally timed to various Pokemon Christmas Bash songs), the Waluigi art, various BitMusical references, and more. It's kind of The History of What I've Been Up to Since the Last History of Nintendo! -A couple little errors were fixed, like the 5-block Tetris piece and the Virtual Boy's release date. In fact, I nod to that with the 1994 sticking before going to 1995. -I love the idea of someone picketing with a sign that says nothing more than PLOK (-I'm glad no one's yet noticed I colored Inkling's paint the wrong color) -Some of the additions in the bridge are among my favorite games of the last decade, like Breath of the Wild, DQXI, Streets of Rage (4), and Slay the Spire. -All the "SUPER" games exist both as a Super and non-super version. -The requisite BitMusical Tadpole Treble reference is more obvious than ever here! Totaka's song is more noticeable as well. -The little cameos in "THIS WAS THE..." were my way of sneaking in a few obscure characters from other games I like. And The Ugly Thing! (which technically has appeared on a Nintendo console, in that weird Tadpole Treble easter egg) -The final shot has a character from each of the 11 BitMusical songs. -In the final shot, Sergeant Blue is saluting while standing on the back of his seat. This confirms he survived the night through End of Day! ...But he now has a second eyepatch.
I thought the blue ink for (Orange) Inkling was intentional, since blue and orange were the staple colors of the first Splatoon. 🦑 And as for Kid Icarus Uprising, its release year was 2012. 🪽 (I understand 2011 was the hype year with the trailers.)
@@AceAngelPrincess Yeah, I went back and forth on whether or not I should just have launch titles for the systems or other games as well. Kid Icarus was one of the defining games of the 3DS for me (and one that I played while working on the original History of Nintendo!) so I had it represent the system even though it came out later. Same with Advance Wars DS and Splatoon etc. Blue and orange were the original duo of colors which is why I went with it, but I later wondered if it made much sense. Kind of implies she took someone else's brush!
You did not have to do this. This was an old song that you could've easily guessed no one remembered or cared about anymore. And yet you not only remade it, but added to it. My heart literally skipped a beat when this popped up in my recommended. I did not see this coming at all. This makes me so happy. Thank you for what you do. Best of luck with your future endeavors!
oh my goodness gracious, I actually started to tear up at the end for some reason. I remember watching the original around when it came out, and it's been stuck in my head ever since - heck, I even did a presentation on the history of nintendo for an economics class once because of it! Hearing all of the slight changes and updated lyrics was so cool, and I'm so glad I got to hear it and be on this journey! thank you for everything, and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store!!
Love love LOVE that you incorporated artists and leaders into the patter-section :) Loved this series! So cool to see how your musical abilities have evolved from all those years back.
I've always been a "quiet fan", simply enjoying your videos, but today i want to thank you. From Brawl in the Family to BitMusical you've always managed to make me laugh, even on bad days. I'm sorry that this series didn't have the exposure it deserved (the algorhythm works in mysterious ways) but i'll accept this ending witha smile. And if you ever decide to come back, we'll be waiting for you with open arms and especially open ears
I was here for the original song, and the ending of BitF back when Smash 3DS/Wii U was coming out, it's so nice having all these new uploads be a sort of trip down memory lane. Your work will always have a special place in my heart, I can't understate just how much of an inspiration you are for me, thank you💛
I'M NOT CRYING YOU'RE CRYING- It's been 12 years since I first heard the original, and I mean this with 100% seriousness, it has made me into the massive Nintendo nerd I am today. Thanks man..
Feeling emotional and nostalgic over some video games, songs etc. from over a decade ago is one thing. Feeling emotional and nostalgic over a particular (nerdy) song is another thing, in the sense that I wasn't prepared for it. Kudos to you for this beautiful remaked rendition!
This was the song that got me into your comic in the first place.... And what got me interested in gaming history in general... This was an amazing treat that made me so emotional, thank you, truly
I literally was listening to older BitF songs this morning (and being shocked to how much of the lyrics retained in my memory banks after all these years), what a shock to see this in my subscriptions.
I remember reading BitF back when I was in middle school and kept up with the series up until the end. I loved the idea on bringing in Adeline as part of the main crew, I always laughed when Waluigi was around doing his hijinks, the fan art people made were cool to browse, and even the musical bits you did after the comic were always a delight.
this is a full circle moment for me because the OG History of Nintendo was the first thing i saw from you when i stumbled upon it on YT way back when. thanks for everything; i will 100% be there for whatever comes next
I remember hearing your newer stuff, not realizing it was you and going "oh hey this reminds me of BITF" Little did I know! The original lives in my head rent-free and seeing it expanded as a send off is so beautifully poetic to me ᵕ̈
I HAVE FEELINGS NOW, MAN. Ah, jeez. "The History of Nintendo" is my favorite song from Brawl in the Family, and for BitMusical to end with an updated rendition, it's just... chef's kiss. It really has bee fun, and I can't wait to see where you go next.
Bittersweet to see BitMusical go but it was fun. I wanted a Dededoll so badly as a kid and held out hope that I'd stumble upon a reseller or maybe commission a custom -- to be able to finally fufill my little kid self's wish is a perfect book-end to Brawl in the Family's legacy.
Brawl in the Family never truly ends. Thank you for the songs Matthew! It's been great following this series and coming back to update a song that we all love so much
It's been quite a ride. I'll admit I didn't find Brawl in the Family until after it finished, but I love its sense of humor, I've reread it too many times to count, and the songs are memorable and super charming. I was super glad when you came back with BitMusical, and I had a feeling you were going to remake this song, especially with the Nintendo Museum having opened. This whole project was amazing. Thank you Matt, and everyone who worked on this project. You're all amazing and whatever your futures hold, I'm rooting for you all.
The song that introduced me to BiTF so many years ago. I knew the second I saw the notification that this would get me misty-eyed. Thank you for everything!!
Well dang it now I need to remember the fast part again. What a fantastic song it’s crazy to think I first heard the original in middle school and now I’m in college. Thank you for this wonderful song
Thank you. I was obsessed with this song when I was 13. Sometimes I'd remember bits of it and revisit it as I grew up, and I'm glad to see this song grew up with us too
I used to sing the patter section of the original when I was young. It really helped me with my annunciation! Looks like I’ve got a new one to practice🥺❤️
I still remember this song from time to time, heck, I was literally humming it to myself a few days ago, so seeing it brought back and given new life was a pretty special experience. Your work had a massive impact on my childhood, and I’m sure the same can be said for many others here. Thank you, Matthew, for everything you’ve done.
Giving a salute, same as back when BitF ended - your content has been a delight for ages, and your songs even moreso for me. What a good sendoff, thank you! This hits different at 1.15x speed~
Like many others in the comments, this takes me back. The first time I heard this song, I was in middle school and planned on performing it with my friends at our talent show. So thankful this was in my childhood.
Awesome!! WAA!! So much detail and polish. Thank you Matthew. I love that you frequently invite family and friends to join in too. Too silly and wholesome!!
I remember watching the original when I was a kid and loving it. Learned the whole thing from memory. I now just sung all of the original verses with a dumb smile on my face, honestly this is the best way to end the series. Thank you so, so, so much for all of these years of musical fun :D
I can't stop replaying. I just can't stop. Seeing this song almost made me tear up as I've been a Nintendo fan for over 15 years now. I loved all of your songs and comics beforehand too. I can't wait to see what you do in the future. Let's a go to new horizons.
I started reading late, a while after the comic ended, but I fell in love with your renditions of the characters, and your work always felt like a loveletter to gaming as a whole. Wherever you go, I can’t wait to see what you’ve got planned next!
Oh my gosh, this was a nostalgic landslide. It’s so interesting knowing the lyrics yet being surprised by how the song changed from the original. This may be your best one yet, and that’s saying a lot. One of the best TH-cam videos I’ve seen this year.
This is great, like i dont even know what to say that hasnt been said already, its just all around amazing!! Thank you for this whole project, honestly
Its incredible hearing and seeing the difference in this and the original. The music felt more understated at first but I realized you were just building up even harder! Heres to following whatever projects you have in the future! (My personal favorite was the Megalixer song.)
Crazy to think that earlier this year was the 10th anniversary of BitF ending. I still listen to all the Christmas songs around the season, they're all time classics for me.
I don't know how many years it's been since I've last heard the original, but I'm happy to say I still knew all the words. (Up until the point you added new lyrics, of course) Looking forward to version 3 in another 12 year, talking about the Switch U and 4DS.
This has made me immensely happy. Yes, it's even better than the original. I'm going to watch it again, at least once to enjoy the song again, and another time to catch all the references and visual gags. (I mean, maybe I blinked, but did I see the Ugly Thing towards the end there? Great mother o' Spain, eh.) Thanks for putting together all these songs and sharing them, Matthew. On a separate note, I'm definitely ordering a Dededoll from the Kickstarter, and I'm currently trying to see if I can justify getting a physical copy of the book, too. On the one hand, I really want it; on the other hand, I do already have the BitF books separately, and shipping books from the U.S. to Canada is really expensive. We'll see which side of me wins this argument. ("Waa. You were expecting to be frugal, and reduce your spending on limited-time offers? TOO BAD. WALUIGI TIME!")
Having being a fan since the beginning of the web comic, This made me a little misty eyed not gonna lie ( this is like the fourth or fifth time you cheeky bugger!) From the bottom of my heart Thank you Mathew All the best From a loyal fan, Alexander. ❤️💚
That`s so amazing! I love the original and I have listened to it and sang along so many times :D I really enjoy the new lyrics and also the new instrumental arrangement, love the tiny changes to the music, so it fits the consoles and games! Good job :D
It's wild how hearing that hook come in again, it feels like just yesterday that I'd heard it :') And then when we started to mention the Switch - goosebumps. Man, amazing tribute as always! :D
Holy dang, he finished with Kaclang! 😄 In all seriousness, thanks for continue to write all these catchy songs Mr. Taranto! Your level of creativity as an artist, songwriter, and lyricist is something I greatly admire and aspire to. Keep fighting the good fight, man! 👍
With how much I would sing this song randomly going about my day, it's very much a surreal experience to be hearing it again for the first time like this. Beautiful reprisal, and I'm looking forward to what you cook up next, Matthew! You're an inspiration and I appreciate your work!
Having followed you for a long time, it’s crazy to think how you’ve gone from a bunch of silly comics about Kirby eating things to too many comics and songs to count, working alongside Howard Phillips, an actual game on Nintendo consoles, and a wife and children. Sad to see another project come to an end but looking forward to whatever the future holds!
Man, I remember watching the original History of Nintendo years upon years ago back around the time it came out. Glad to see a revised version serve as the finale to BitMusical.
I love how you used the sounds that would have been used for the game systems when you list them by year! Super awesome work, loved the first History of Nintendo and this one is even more AWESOME
Finale?! I felt like we just started?!😭 Oh well. You deserve a break, Mr. Matthew! Thanks for everything (specifically the ROB and Mr. G&W duet)! And I look forward to seeing your future projects! God bless!!
My wife has always been a huge fan of your work but u am a huge fan of King Dedede so this new kickstarter is something we can both agree is a completely good and normal way to blow $180.
This is like... the 3rd time a Matthew Taranto series has ended and broken my heart
watched the original in 2nd grade now i’m graduating college
I'm thinking of 1989 to tetris forever now and 2 switch online tetris games a month later. Time flies in so many ways.
I read that and thought... that can't be possible??
12 YEARS. HOLY MOLY.
Dude, same!!!!!!☺
I watched the original while i just started highscool, and now i have a job

This was always my favorite song you made. As the finale to Bit Musical, this is perfect.
Love love LOVE that you incorporated artists and leaders into the patter-section :)
Loved this series! So cool to see how your musical abilities have evolved from all those years back.
Oh look.
It's a talking sock.
3:40 the great thing about this remaster from then and now is that L was in fact real for Mario 64 during the gigaleak

Here's to the next adventure!
I loved your work on the Waluigi song, this was beautiful!
Oh, goodness, I’m gonna miss this one something fierce.
Thanks for everything, looking forward to whatever comes next! ❤
This is great, like i dont even know what to say that hasnt been said already, its just all around amazing!! Thank you for this whole project, honestly
Literally just listened to the other one earlier today and thought, "Man, I bet he could make another." What a lovely surprise!
It's been fun following your work since the comic days, good luck out there!

This Chanel is part of my teenhood and honestly a cozy place when things feel meh on TH-cam
Wow. What a trip. I still fondly remember the original. It's kinda surreal seeing the DS - Wii U get actual verses now instead of being a line or two.
Oh my GOD, what a wild ride. Thank you so, SO much for all the fun and memories. I feel honored to even have watched.
i can't believe im at another matthew taranto finale all these years later
EDIT OH MY GOD OCTOPATH 2 MENTIONED
The video that got me into the series. Deserves the remake more than any other!
Nice work, bun
Crazy to think that earlier this year was the 10th anniversary of BitF ending. I still listen to all the Christmas songs around the season, they're all time classics for me.
This brings me so many memories. Great video !

Having being a fan since the beginning of the web comic,
This made me a little misty eyed not gonna lie ( this is like the fourth or fifth time you cheeky bugger!)
From the bottom of my heart
Thank you Mathew
All the best
From a loyal fan,
Alexander.
❤️💚
A sequel to the video that turned me on to this amazing channel. Thank you, Mr. Taranto.
The original is how I found you. Feels right to have Bit Musical end here.
That`s so amazing! I love the original and I have listened to it and sang along so many times :D I really enjoy the new lyrics and also the new instrumental arrangement, love the tiny changes to the music, so it fits the consoles and games! Good job :D
I loved this song when the first one came out. I was twelve. Thanks for everything.
It's wild how hearing that hook come in again, it feels like just yesterday that I'd heard it :') And then when we started to mention the Switch - goosebumps. Man, amazing tribute as always! :D
Holy dang, he finished with Kaclang! 😄
In all seriousness, thanks for continue to write all these catchy songs Mr. Taranto! Your level of creativity as an artist, songwriter, and lyricist is something I greatly admire and aspire to. Keep fighting the good fight, man! 👍
Thank you. I will be eagerly awaiting any news of your next ventures
With how much I would sing this song randomly going about my day, it's very much a surreal experience to be hearing it again for the first time like this. Beautiful reprisal, and I'm looking forward to what you cook up next, Matthew! You're an inspiration and I appreciate your work!
Why am i just finding out about this now :')
What an amazing finale
I remember using the original video in a school assignment a couple years back! I got an A on it! That was such a while ago
Guess it was to be taught in schools all over... well, no clue if you were in Tokyo, but I digress.
I loved the Totaka's Song hidden in the Nintendo Staff section
Having followed you for a long time, it’s crazy to think how you’ve gone from a bunch of silly comics about Kirby eating things to too many comics and songs to count, working alongside Howard Phillips, an actual game on Nintendo consoles, and a wife and children. Sad to see another project come to an end but looking forward to whatever the future holds!
It feels like just yesterday when I saw the original, I’m sad to see but musical go but I will always enjoy the years I spent with it
i was JUST singing this song to myself this morning, talk about timing!
Oh my gosh, I remember when the original first came out. This is awesome!
Amazing series of songs, well done!
Bit musicle was amazing this is a great finale can't wait to see what the future brings
I just got back from losing a Slay the Spire run on the switch. . . I feel so called out! 😭 But also, incredible work!
Man, I remember watching the original History of Nintendo years upon years ago back around the time it came out. Glad to see a revised version serve as the finale to BitMusical.
The comic 411 heckler is undefeated -- StarFox got a mention, but poor Pikmin is still left out ;) Well, there is one in the audience at the end!
Yep, I considered that and figured Sergeant Blue from End of Day would count as a Pikmin reference!
glad you remembered Professor Oak and Professor Dragmire
My emotions have been shattered. Well done, good sir, well done.
Hah, a dozen years- wait it’s actually been a dozen years since the original D:
It’s so beautiful man and it celebrates not just the company and the IP but the people who made it happen
God bless!!
Glad to see the virtual boy date fixed. That’s been bugging me for over a decade.
This song needs to be played in the Nintendo museum, for everyone to listen to.
I just watched the original early in the week. I did not expect this!
My wife has always been a huge fan of your work but u am a huge fan of King Dedede so this new kickstarter is something we can both agree is a completely good and normal way to blow $180.
Wow what a beautifull callback. Such a great finale
This one was my favorite song back in the day.
wow I can't believe it's been twelve years since the original song came out, I sing it to myself to remember when the Wii U released all the time!
I guess you could say, this was ONE FINAL SONG for BitMusical?
And thus, another chapter is done...
I'm not crying your crying-
Man I remember the original and seeing a remake makes me feel complete
Oh yeah! One of my favorites! I still remember the day this came out on the old website.
