I have Brickell on the left, both monkeys set to strong, and I'm exit+continuing every round. The 3rd skull always happens at the tail end of round 46 (not round 45, as for you and fbtd) and I get a chained fort moab which kills me. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

try to focus on when i kill the rounds and replicate it. otherwise you can always just crosspath the dartmonkey or add a 400 boat.

technically you have to exit after round ends after every soul kill when lych becomes vulnerable again. But in easier terms, exiting every round does the same job, you just exit round a couple times more often than what is needed.

if your willing to sacrifice a 7 more tiers you can just get Elite defender for t1

another way of killing t1 is adding a 400 boat, which can be upgraded into 500 if you want on t2. Cheap and easy
